1969 Ford Fairlane For Sale

I got the car about 5 years ago out in Southern California where the car had been its whole life and brought it out to New Mexico. Since then the car has spent very little time on the road, has always been garaged and the car has been regularly serviced by certified mechanics. The car runs great and has incredible highway power, front disc brakes and power steering. The specifics of the modifications are extensive and all well done and include:

347 Ford Small Block Stroker ( balanced )

J+S Forged Pistons

Seat Forged Crank and Rods

Ruben Racing Cam .510 lift @ .290 duration

Stainless Valves

Comp Cams Springs, Roller Rockers, and Lifters

MSD Ignition

Melling High Volume Oil Pump

Weiand Tunnel Ram Intake

Ford Racing Billet Pullies

Art Carr C-4 Transmission with 2600 Stall

The exterior has typical wear of the 7 year old paint job, all the chrome is excellent and the body is straight solid and in great shape. The hood was professionally redone to resemble the teardrop on the Ford Thunderbolt. There are a couple of nicks where the hood tolerance was too tight and chipped the paint and unfortunately there is a slight bow to one side nothing too bad. The interior is pretty well maintained with a complete new upholstery about 5 years ago, the headliner is tight and the seats all look great. The gauges all light up and work and its even got the original philco radio in it, but no speaker. This is full disclosue, just telling it is like it is.

Unfortunately Im moving out of state for work and will not be able to keep the Fairlane with me for another move, so its going up for sale. the car has over 10,000 dollars invested in the engine alone and has recieved its annual tune up. If you are an out of state buyer I recommend another carb adjustment at your elevation (its about 5500 ft up here). Im asking for 12,000 dollars obo, the only reason its going so cheap is due to the impending time limit for work. This is an incredible vehicle that is in excellent condition throughout, no rust, straight lines, runs fantastic If you are a serious buyer contact me through email and we can arrange the details further for a meeting or sale if required.

Ford exec downplays idea of aluminum-intensive cars

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Ford certainly made waves when it rolled out the all-new 2015 F-150 made primarily out of aluminum. But while trimming weight off its vehicles is a top priority for the Detroit automaker, we shouldn't expect the lightweight metal to be used as widely on passenger cars as it has been on its new pickup. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress on Wednesday, top Ford exec Joe Hinrichs said that using aluminum in passenger cars isn't as beneficial as it is in trucks – primarily because the weight savings isn't as dramatic, or as deeply needed. Though improved fuel economy is certainly one advantage of aluminum construction in a truck like the F-150, low prices at the pump have prompted Ford to highlight another advantage, and that's capability: With less weight on its own, a lighter-weight truck can carry and tow more than a heavier one, because it all comes down to combined weight ratings. Ford is expected to make the new F-Series Super Duty largely out of aluminum for the same reasons, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the next Expedition use the material as well. But while certain components in Ford passenger cars will be made of aluminum, we shouldn't expect entire chassis and bodywork assemblies to use the material as extensively as on the F-150, or on more upscale passenger cars from the likes of Audi or Jaguar. Dearborn is, however, investing in other lightweight materials. It has a joint venture with Dow Chemical to put carbon fiber into mass production, much as BMW has with its i3. The Blue Oval will use a combination of carbon and aluminum on its 2017 GT supercar, and it has stripped weight by removing amenities from the 2016 Mustang GT350R, but apparently neither is a method Ford can practically apply to its volume models. Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla considers Model III SUV and wagon, Ford tears Tesla apart

Mon, Oct 27 2014

Worries over Brazil's electric grid mean EVs are excluded from green car incentives. As part of a new efficiency program, non-plug-in hybrids will be eligible for a reduction in import duties, while EVs and plug-in hybrids will not. Brazil's government is concerned that the country's grid lacks the capacity to handle the increased load from an influx of EVs. Brazil plans to create a new incentive program - perhaps a more inclusive one - when the current one expires at the end of 2015. Read more at Green Car Reports. Tesla could make SUV and wagon derivatives of the upcoming Model III sedan. Tesla's VP of engineering, Chris Porritt, told Auto Express that to reach as many customers as possible, Tesla would consider all its options. "SUVs, estates - who knows?" says Porritt. He also says that while the company is currently focused on products with a broader appeal, another Roadster or other sports car aren't out of the question in the future. Read more at Auto Express. Ford admits to a Tesla Model S teardown. Ford CEO Mark Fields says that after disassembling, reassembling and driving the model S, his company is "very familiar with that product." He also says the Ford has the capability to build a similarly high-tech, long-range electric car. The questions still remains if Ford has plans for such a vehicle, but Fields says that it fits within Ford's "product philosophy." Read more at Business Insider and at USA Today.
