This auction is for a very cool Ford Fairlane 500 survivor. A southern California car since new, this vintage Ford coupe is rust free and wearing its original paint and interior. The body is very straight, no evidence whatsoever of any previous damage and excellent stainless trim. All of the impossible to find trim items are there and look great. A very nice grill, good bumpers and excellent glass complement the original paint. Originally a V8 car, this Fairlane would be an excellent candidate for a gasser or Thunderbolt tribute. Its already equipped with a vintage pair of American Racing Torq Thrust style wheels and black steel wheels in the rear-just like they did it in the sixties! The underside of this Ford is dry and rust free as is the trunk and all the other usual trouble spots. The interior is also original in very nice condition. The dash and gauges are clear, legible and original. Even the steering wheel is in very nice condition. The headliner, door panels and seatbelts are original and look very nice. The original steel wheels and hubcaps are included with the sale as is a service manual and an extra set of tail lights. The trunk area is original with its spare, original mat, jack equipment abd cardboard panels. All the trim tags, ID plates ,etc are original and in excellent condition. The paint is original so its obvious to see that this Fairlane has never been damaged or rusty. Under the hood is very clean with original wiring harness, fender liners, firewall, all in good shape. The small block Ford V8 looks great with its vintage Edlebrock valve covers and HiPo air cleaner. I'm unsure as to the originality of the engine, but it sure looks the part. Many of the items that make restoring one of these vintage Fords difficult are intact and in very good shape on this car. Trim, interior, rust free, undamaged body, original V8, five lug chassis-all ready to take to the next level. This is an ideal Fairlane to restore as original or as a period Hot Rod. What a cool car to take to a vintage cacklefest, drag race or show. Another bonus is that the Fairlane is still displaying its original California black plates and is currently registered in California-of course, due to its age, no smog is ever needed. Clear title. Any issues? Not many. The hood as been lightly primered for that super stocker look and the original seat covers are torn in a few places. The carpet is intact, but somewhat worn and discolored. The engine(unknown as to original or not) looks very clean under the valve covers and doesn't make any bad noises. It does ,however seem to smoke a bit and the carb choke is stickey. The Fairlane has been stored for a while so it should be gone through before returing to daily duty. The Ford does run and drive. The transmission shifts OK and the brakes and steering also work OK. In short, its an honest old Fairlane that due to its rarity and originality, deserves to be the object of a resto or restomod. Don't miss this one. Offered at no reserve. Sold "As Is", of course. Good luck bidding and thanks for looking. |

Ford's Mulally now said to be in lead for Microsoft CEO job
Sun, 29 Sep 2013There have been rumors that Ford CEO Alan Mulally could assume the top job over at Microsoft, whose CEO, Steve Ballmer, will retire within the year. Mulally hasn't come out and said that he's considering moving to Microsoft after (or before) his contract with Ford through 2014 ends, but sources in the know say he's the front-runner to become the tech giant's CEO and has opened up to the idea more in recent weeks, AllThingsD reports.
Mulally is no stranger to Washington, where Microsoft is located, having worked in the state for Seattle-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes as CEO years ago. He also recently was an adviser to Ballmer in an effort to realign the company's management structure to help it become more competitive in a fast-changing computer hardware and software market. And when Ford developed its Sync digital interface, it tapped Microsoft to provide the operating system, Microsoft Auto. Perhaps the least crucial connection - but nonetheless an important one - is that Mulally still owns a house in the Seattle area, and it's been said he wants to return there, according to AllThingsD.
A main challenge Microsoft's next CEO will face is how to manage the company's numerous, fractured operations and, eventually, streamline them. But even on this front, Mulally has experience; after all, it was he who ushered in an era of global Ford vehicles, after the automaker had become complacent developing and selling vehicles by region leading up to the economic recession of 2008-2009.
2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:

Ford Shelby GT350R, GT successor, F-150 Raptor and more rumored for Detroit debut
Mon, Dec 1 2014According to a pair of reports from Hearst's car mags, Car and Driver and Road & Track, Ford has a whole mess of good stuff on deck for the Detroit Auto Show in January. And it all sounds awesome. First, expect to see a hotter version of the Shelby GT350 in Detroit, likely called GT350R. Think of this as the already-hot Shelby with even more track-focused bits baked in – brakes, tires, aero, etc. Everything about the GT350 sounds great, so expect this R variant to be something seriously fierce. As R&T suggests, if the GT350 is the company's new Boss 302, the R is the Laguna Seca. But that's not even close to the biggest news. Road & Track believes a proper Ford GT replacement will debut in Detroit – a road-going version of the Le Mans GTE-class car the Blue Oval is working on for 2016. We've heard about this before, but having the street-legal car debut in Detroit would be absolutely huge news. The performance story continues, though, with R&T suggesting that the next-gen Ford F-150 Raptor will bow in Detroit. Details are scarce about what, exactly, the aluminum-bodied desert stormer will hold, but we expect good things. Finally, Ford's hot hatches might make some news in the Motor City, too. Car and Driver seems to think the all-wheel-drive Focus RS will bow in The D, and that an updated version of the Fiesta ST will also show its face. Road & Track, meanwhile, believes the Focus RS showing will be saved for a European auto show – think Geneva – and our gut feeling is to agree with the R&T theory. All of these rumors point to Ford officially announcing its dedicated performance division – like Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and so on. We've heard reports of a new, global performance brand from the company already, with the name 999 thrown out as a possibility. In any case, if these rumblings prove to be true, there's going to be a ton to drool over from Ford in January. Stay tuned.
