1963 Ford Fairlane 500

2-Door Hardtop

California Car, Rust free

Available for auction is a driver quality 1963 Ford Fairlane 500.  This vehicle presents itself very well, in a mostly original condition, rust free body and undercarriage with a tastefully appointed interior, period correct for this classic.  Runs and drives great, shifts through all gears and the brakes stop the car promptly.  This vehicle was a daily driver for many years, always garage kept, which explains the outstanding shape of all the chrome, body and under carriage.  Recently fluids/filters were changed, and is driving just like it had in 1963

 Interior

The interior looks outstanding with no tears in the seats, Gauge cluster is in great shape, as well as all the dash components.  The dash pad is in great shape with one minor tear.  Door panels are in great shape, arm rests show some aging, but still functional.  The headliner is in driver quality form, and has a few separations in the stitching, not hanging down, but could get re-stitched.  The original steering wheel was replaced; however the original steering wheel is in the trunk. All windows roll up and down smooth, doors open and close solid. All interior lights are in working order to include: dome light, under dash courtesy lights, gauge cluster lights, headlight indicator on gauge cluster & turn signal indicator.  The radio works well with and in dash cassette player, but also is equipped with a multi- disc CD player in the trunk.

Exterior

All following exterior lights are in working order: Headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals.  The paint appears to be original; the original door tag is present along with the original jacking instructions sticker still intact in the trunk.  All chrome is present and in excellent condition.  The body is laser straight, with minor imperfections of a few paint chips on the nose of the vehicle and infrequently along the length of the car.  Also present are slight paint color variations in a few spots, the body is smooth and in excellent shape.  This vehicle is represented as a driver quality classic, showing extremely well overall.

Motor/Transmission

The original engine this Fairlane came stock from the factory with was a V8 221 cubic inch, which was replaced with a strong running/powerful 302.  The 302 is paired with a C4 automatic transmission that does have a very small leak.  The engine compartment and motor are ultra detailed with dual mufflers exiting at the rear of the car.   The heater is functional and plumbed accordingly.

Undercarriage

The undercarriage of this Fairlane is solid. The frame rails/floor pans/torque boxes have never seen a repair and are presented in original condition.

Overall this is an outstanding vehicle that shows very well in the current condition.  Offered in driver quality condition, this car would need very little to be a candidate for further restoration bringing it to excellent show stopper appearance, or drive it as is and enjoy the thumbs up as you cruise down the road.  Being sold locally as well, this auction may end at any time.  In person vehicle inspections are welcomed and encouraged as I may have missed minor details.  I have described the condition/quality of the vehicle to the best of my ability. (See Video).  The car is offered in as is condition with no warranty offered or implied.  Buyer is responsible for shipping of the vehicle with a $500.00 non-refundable deposit paid via Pay pal within 24 hours of the close of auction.  Please make contact within the first 24 hours after auction closes.  The remaining balance is to be paid via cash in hand or wire transfer. I reserve the right to relist if no contact is made. Thank you for looking and happy bidding.

Buy Ford and GM stock and make 5%

Tue, Feb 2 2016

Want to make a five-percent return when 10-year treasuries are paying around two percent? Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) have solid balance sheets, strong cash flow, solid earnings, and growing markets. By all accounts, they are smart investments. But the market is down on these stocks. Why? Some of the stupid excuses include: They are cyclical companies The Detroit 3 have lost 3.5 million in sales since 2000 The world economy is shaky GM recently filed for bankruptcy Their markets have peaked They haven't changed their ways Let's take these criticisms one by one: They Are Cyclical Companies Yes, they are cyclical. Every company is cyclical. Every industry is cyclical. Some more than others, but not every company is immune from swings in the market. Banks used to be 'non-cyclical' leader, not anymore. Airline stocks are just as cyclical as auto stocks, yet they are trading at multiples greater than the auto industry. Why? And what accounts for the irrational stock price for Tesla (TSLA)? At least Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) make money and have positive cash flows. In fact, both companies have a net positive cash position. They have more cash on hand than liabilities. Auto sales in the United States hit a record 17.5 million vehicles in 2015. During the Great Recession, Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) cut their break even points to 10 million vehicles per year. Anything above an annual U.S. volume of 10 million vehicles is profit. And what a profit they make. Sales of Ford's F-150 continues to be the best-selling vehicle in the United States for over 30 years. Detroit 3 Have Lost 3.5 million in Sales Since 2000 Automotive News reports General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Chrysler (FCA) have lost a combined 3.5 million vehicles sales since 2000. So how can they be making more money? Two big reasons – Fleet Sales and the UAW. Fleet Sales The Detroit 3 used to own car rental companies to keep their factories running. Ford owned Hertz (HTZ), General Motors owned all of National Car Rental and 29 percent of Avis, and Chrysler, the forerunner to Fiat Chrysler (FCA), used to own Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent-A-Car. The Detroit 3 owned these rental companies to have a place to sell their bad product and keep their factories running. These were low margin sales, and in many cases, were money losers for the Detroit 3. They no longer own auto rental companies.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.
