1963 Ford Fairlane 500 2dr Coupe on 2040-cars
Georgetown, Texas, United States
Great little classic. The engine is strong and the oldschool three on the tree column shift is a blast to drive. The car was given a once over about six months ago. It was given the usual points, plugs, and fluid maintainence but I also replaced all of the breaks and put a new gas tank in. Lights, wipers, horn ect are also all working. The locks all work HOWEVER I have an ignition key and a trunk key but no door key. I will include the key blanks. I just never got around to having them cut. A modern stereo is installed in the glove box (so that the dash wouldn't lose it's original look) and pioneer speakers have been professionally installed.
I was originally planning to make this one of my daily drivers because of the great shape that it is in. Between work and many other projects, it has sat in my driveway waiting to be shown the love that it deserves. On the brightside, I was honest with myself about how busy I was and disconnected the battery and emptied the gas tank after parking it. So no rust or sediment in that new tank. And the most that you should have to do is replace (or possibly just jumpstart) the battery. And then you have yourself a classic that is sure to get noticed. Not looking to overcharge. I got the car in good condition and at a good price and have put a little bit of money into improving it so I want to pass on a great deal to another lucky person. This is a great car and it will make somebody very happy. I'm just looking to have more room in my driveway and get back what I have invested. You won't be disappointed. Buyer is responisible for all shipping/pick-up arrangements for this vehicle. |

Edge will be the first Ford-badged product to come standard with EcoBoost power.
Ford officially unveiled the all-new, third-generation Edge today at its Dearborn home, announcing that the latest version of the popular crossover will ride on the same CD4 architecture that underpins the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. The Edge will also be the first Ford-badged product to come standard with EcoBoost power.
Ex-PR chief Vines accuses Ford of bugging cars, phones
Fri, 24 Oct 2014Jason Vines, former head of communications at Ford among other automakers, is accusing the Blue Oval of bugging his company phone and his car during the Firestone tire recall for the Explorer in 2001. The allegations have come to light in Vines' upcoming book What Did Jesus Drive? Crisis PR in Cars, Computers and Christianity.
According to The Detroit News, which has an advance copy of the book, Vines (pictured above) claims that after leaving the company, someone with security within Ford advised him that he had been bugged around the time of the recall. The allegations don't stop there, though. Vines further contends that he might not have been the only one to get this treatment, noting that then-general counsel John Rintamaki also believed he was being listened to.
According to The Detroit News, even if it had been a company phone, recording Vines without his knowledge still would have been a felony under Michigan law.
Top torque-to-weight ratios under $100k, $50k and $25k
Tue, 07 Oct 2014Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force represents the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's horse trailer. Good stuff.
It follows then, that as with the horsepower-to-weight list that we assembled for you a few months ago, a list of cars that offer the most pound-feet with the fewest pounds to carry, is an interesting one to break down. Sure, there's a big difference in how the torque is applied from a turbocharged six-cylinder in a Swedish luxury sedan and a massive heavy-duty truck's turbo-diesel. But being the car/stat geeks that we are, we think it's kinda neat that those two vehicles rank near each other where torque and weight intersect.
As with the horsepower list, we've given you figures as pounds per every one pound-foot. Again broken down into broad price categories, we've got a mixed bag of 2014 and 2015 models here, too. Every effort has been made to select the most up-to-date prices and specs, and we've also to omitted some '14 cars that won't be re-upped after the ongoing yearly changeover.
