1963 Fairlane Project Car on 2040-cars
Church Hill, Tennessee, United States
I saved this little diamond from a mad scientist gear head sorta guy! This little car was "restored" when it was still a 6 banger 3 spd papaw car, then it passed into the hands of a "fabricator" who cut the entire stock front suspension out of it and attempted to install a fox body mustang front, rear, and drive train in it. It sat unfinished for several years until it was swapped to a local junkyard for an engine. Then a fellow motorhead rescued it from the jaws of the crusher and made plans to slice and dice it. I talked him into letting me swap a fistful of dead kiteflyers for it.... and here we are! The front rails have been repaired with boxed tubing and is ready for an IFS. the rear still has the OEM leafs in place. When this lil car received its original facelift it got NEW bumpers (fr & rr) NEW weatherstripping, NEW paint, NEW windshield, NEW interior. All the cosmetics are good. it simply needs the giddy-up-go parts. Now I DO have a fresh 1970 460 w/dove heads, a T-5 tranny, Ladder bar kit and coilovers, and a set of American Racing Torque Thrust D's 17x9.5's and 17x6's with new z rated tires that is NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION! All of which can be PURCHASED POST AUCTION. Then all you need is a mustang II IFS and a 9"...... and of course some glue! Im selling this car as-is where-is. I fully expect the winning bidder to pick this up in East TN. I have equipment and the ability to load it onto your trailer without damaging the car. I have so many projects, Im a lifetime behind, thats the only reason Im letting it go. It would make a great pro touring or even a gasser if you must. I am more than willing to provide any information that will allow a bidder to make a well informed intelligent decision. Please ask any questions you might have. The winning bidder will be required to make a deposit of $1000.00 thru paypal @ the end of the auction with the balance due in cash or certified funds upon pick up. If you have a boatload of neg feedback you need to contact me before bidding. Thanks for viewing my auction and good luck! |

Performance CNG wants to crowdfund natural gas-powered Ford Mustang
Fri, May 16 2014Soliciting investments to develop a street-legal compressed natural gas (CNG) powered Ford Mustang that can deliver 470 horsepower certainly wouldn't make sense on a site called Indiestopstop. Nope, Indiegogo is the more-appropriately-named site that one Michigan entrepreneur is using to try and crowdfund his CNG 'Stang. He's looking to raise $55,000. Michigan's Daryl Patrishkoff and his company Performance CNG LLC showed off their converted 2003 Mustang last year at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Royal Oak, MI in an effort to get some exposure for the car, which can run on both gas and CNG. The company and its three-man team is looking to further develop the project in the name of a fueling source that is 40 percent cheaper than gasoline, throws off as much as 30 percent fewer tailpipe greenhouse gas emissions and makes the country less dependent on foreign oil. Performance CNG estimates that just 120,000 of the world's 15 million CNG-powered vehicles are in the US and is calling for more. As for the $55 grand, Patrishkoff estimates that more than half of that amount would be committed to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) testing of emissions, fuel economy and horsepower. The problem? As of right now, only $150 has been raised. Check out Performance CNG's press release below and see the fundraising effort on Indiegogo here. Eco-Friendly Muscle Car? CNG vehicles save money, emit less pollution and creates jobs from American-mined fuel SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich., May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Daryl Patrishkoff of Shelby Township, MI, has a vision for the American automotive industry. He firmly believes that our fuel of choice should be Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), not gasoline. Until the full CNG infrastructure is in place a Bi-Fuel vehicle, fueled by either CNG or gasoline upon the drivers command, is the bridge vehicle that can lead this transition. Patrishkoff heads up a (3) man technical team developing this technology. The advantages are: 40 percent savings in fuel costs at the pump 25-30 percent reduction in harmful emissions 100 percent US provided natural gas Meaningful employment for the US economy The most important benefit, however, is that a CNG-powered vehicle runs on fuel that can be mined in America, eliminating the need for foreign oil. "After decades of political rhetoric, these types of vehicles can truly lead the US to energy independence," he said.
Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn
Sun, 30 Mar 2014Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.
The 11 most expensive American cars ever
Tue, 12 Aug 2014Here's a Pro Tip for all you would-be classic car investors out there: buy Ferraris. With the Pebble Beach festivities kicking off this week, including any number high end car auctions, we thought it would be entertaining to compile a list of some to the most expensive cars ever sold with the bang of a gavel. Trouble is, once you get past the splendor of everyone's favorite Italian sports car maker, that list is pretty boring.
Ferrari dominates the all-time auction sales list; seven of the top ten most expensive cars sold wear the Cavallino Rampante badge, as well as more than half of the top fifty. Sure, a nearly $30-million Mercedes-Benz W196 racecar might be the new top dog as of last year, but it's even possible that Ferrari could take that title back in Monterey this weekend. Long story short: we think a list of the most expensive American cars ever sold at auction is a lot more entertaining to read. Hell, our list has a friggin' Batmobile on it, how can it go wrong?
Follow on below for the top ten cars that are red, white, blue and a whole lot of green.
