1957 Ford Fairlane Base 5.1l on 2040-cars
Novi, Michigan, United States
I'm selling my Skyliner that I've had for two years because I've agreed to postpone retirement until the end of 2015 and just don't have the time to drive and enjoy it. I'm also selling a 1957 Sunliner convertible that was going to be a restoration project. This car has a 312 with four barrel and Fordomatic. The engine was just tuned up less than 100 miles ago. The trans shifts very strong and smooth. Tires are whitewall radials with about 100 miles also. The top operates as it should. It is always a crowd pleaser at shows and cruises. My club president says that this is one of the first Skyliners built because of the lack of Script on the top. I have read this on 1957 Ford sites also. Hate to part with this car because it has been fun to drive and own, but it deserves a more attentive owner. My reserve is I believe very fair and below what the value should be. I work very hard for my 100% feedback and will answer any questions or provide add any information and pictures if needed. Please call 248-379-0592 with any needed info. The car is also for sale locally and listing can end at any time. Shipping by purchaser but will assist. Thanks for looking, Mike

Ex-PR chief Vines accuses Ford of bugging cars, phones
Fri, 24 Oct 2014Jason Vines, former head of communications at Ford among other automakers, is accusing the Blue Oval of bugging his company phone and his car during the Firestone tire recall for the Explorer in 2001. The allegations have come to light in Vines' upcoming book What Did Jesus Drive? Crisis PR in Cars, Computers and Christianity.
According to The Detroit News, which has an advance copy of the book, Vines (pictured above) claims that after leaving the company, someone with security within Ford advised him that he had been bugged around the time of the recall. The allegations don't stop there, though. Vines further contends that he might not have been the only one to get this treatment, noting that then-general counsel John Rintamaki also believed he was being listened to.
According to The Detroit News, even if it had been a company phone, recording Vines without his knowledge still would have been a felony under Michigan law.
Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues
Fri, 26 Sep 2014Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.
