1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner Retractable Project Barn Find Rat Street Hot Rod on 2040-cars

1957 Ford Retractable, Skyliner Fairlane 500, let me start out by saying that I bought this from the second owner a  gentleman in north Alabama that bought the car in 1980, in 1979 the car was redone or restored, he drove the car for a few years and enjoyed it and then parked the car in a heated and cooled garage, and it stayed parked till about 6 months ago, he and his son uncovered the car and was planning on restoring the car till they done some homework and seen just what it would cost for a paint job and to get the car to show quality and then I bought the car. This is a factory 312 automatic blue and white skyliner convertible. The motor and transmission was told to me by the second owner to be original to the car, but their is no 100 percent way of telling with a 312 motor. The car is a factory p/s car, but no p/b. The car does come with a Continental Kit and Cruiser Skirts, but I am missing two pieces of the continental kit, the holder for the tire, and the flat pieces that actually covers the rim and tire, I have everything else, and the cruiser skirts are complete. As you can see in the pictures the car is missing a few pieces of trim, the father and son started to pull those pieces off to get the car ready of paint, and I am supposed to get those along with the missing continental pieces from them but they have yet to dig them out of their garage so I don't want to make any promises about those pieces but If I get them they will certainly go with the car to the next owner. However their are some trim pieces in the trunk of the car already, and it only appears to be missing the door handles and couple other trim pieces. The car other then that is complete, and all trim and bumpers that are still on the car appear to be in fantastic shape.  The car will crank up and run and move under its own power, and their seems to be no issues with the drive train. The interior of the car is certainly useable, the seats and door panels appear to be in fantastic shape, however they did pull the carpet out and was going to replace it, so I do not have the carpet for the car. The body is straight and certainly wouldn't take much to get it ready for paint, their appears to be no rust issues with the car, if their is rust it is very very small or minimal, their is however one small crack in the passenger rear quarter panel right in the lip of the wheel well, and it appears to be a small stress crack from years of running the car with the cruiser skirts, other then that the car is just showing its age as far as paint issues, small rock and door edge chips, and some lacquer checking in a few places. Over all this is a great car, and certainly would make for a easy restoration project, and wouldn't take much to get to that show quality. I will say that one of the top motors just went out on me the other day, so the top was working, but will need one top motor rebuilt for sure. I do have the other wire wheel setup, its in the trunk of the car and makes for a full set, and I also have what appears to be a full gasket kit new for the car, the past owner went ahead and bought it for the car when he was planning on having the car painted. The car is for sale locally and is subject to be taken off Ebay if sold. The car is also sold as is with no warranty. A 25% deposit is due within 3 days of the auctions end and the balance within 7 more when the car is to be picked up or arrangements are made for the car to be shipped. If you have any questions about the car please fill free to ask and I will gladly answer them to the best of my ability. Thanks and God Bless Kody 251-454-5455

Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.

This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like

Sat, 12 Oct 2013

Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.

You can now order Domino's pizza from your Sync-equipped Ford

Tue, 07 Jan 2014

The news keeps pouring in from the Consumer Electronics Show now underway in Las Vegas, and the latest comes from Ford which has announced two new apps for its Sync AppLink system.
First up is a cooperative app launched by Ford together with Domino's Pizza that lets drivers of the former order pizza from the latter right from their car. The service allows those with Ford Sync AppLink in their car or truck and are registered with a Domino's Pizza Profile to place an order for their favorite pie using Dearborn's voice-recognition software for either pickup or delivery. Save your information in your Pizza Profile and it'll be sent to your house without even the push of a button, which strikes us as awesome a use of technology as we've ever seen.
