1957 FORD FAIRLANE 500 CONVERTIBLE
THIS CAR JUST CAME OUT OF 15 YEARS OF STORAGE. THE BODY IS PRETTY SOLID AND WAS REPAINTED THE ORIGINAL BLACK. IT STILL HAS A DECENT SHINE. IT IS A NICE DRIVER QUALITY PAINT JOB. THERE ARE SOME MINOR NICKS, SCUFFS AND SMALL AREAS WHERE THE PAINT CHIPPED (WHEEL WELL) ALL JUST TYPICAL FOR AGE. THE CAR HAS HAD SOME PREVIOUS BODY WORK. THE TRUNK IS VERY SOLID. THE FLOORS HAVE HAD SOME WORK IN THE PAST AND HAVE A FEW SPOTS OF RUST ON THEM. THEY ARE NOT BAD AND THERE ARE NO STRUCTURAL ISSUES. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP AND REAR WINDOW ARE IN VERY NICE CONDITION. THEY WERE REPLACED RIGHT BEFORE THE CAR WENT INTO STORAGE. THE BUMPERS AND TRIM ARE IN NICE CONDITON, BUT NOT SHOW QUALITY. THERE ARE SOME MINOR MARKS HERE AND THERE ON THE TRIM. IT IS NOT NOTICEABLE FROM 5 FEET AWAY. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP OPERATES EASILY MANUALLY. THE TOP DOES NOT FUNCTION WITH THE SWITCH. IM NOT SURE IF ITS A FUSE, PUMP, LINE OR WHATEVER, NEVER LOOKED INTO IT. OPERATES EASILY. THE INTERIOR IS IN NICE CONDITION. THE SEATS, CARPET AND DOOR PANELS WERE ALSO REPLACED PRIOR TO STORAGE. THE DASH AND GAUGES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE ALSO. THE POWER SEAT DOES WORK. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WORK. ALL TURN SIGNALS, AND LIGHTS WORK. ALL OF THE WINDOWS OPERATE AS THEY SHOULD. THE ENGINE IS A 292 V8. IT HAS A 2 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. THE CAR RUNS, DRIVES AND STOPS FINE. IT PROBABLY DOES NEED A GOOD TUNE - UP. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE, IS QUIET, AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. FRAME IS SOLID. THE TIRES ON THE CAR ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL HUBCAPS. THE CAR HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS OWNED BY THE SAME FAMILY FOR 35+ YEARS. THIS IS A VERY NICE CAR TO RESTORE OR DRIVE IT AS - IS. THE CAR IS DECENT AND LOOKS GOOD. YOU WOULDNT BE EMBARASSED TO DRIVE IT THE WAY IT IS. THIS FAIRLANE IS ALL THERE, VERY COMPLETE AND WOULD MAKE SOMEONE A DECENT CAR. IT DOES NEED A GOOD DETAILING. THERE ARE SOME EXTERIOR TRIM AND ODD PARTS ALSO INCLUDED IN THE SALE. WOULD LIKE $2000 DOWN IN 2-3 DAYS AND BALANCE PRIOR TO PICKUP. ANY TYPE OF CERTIFIED FUNDS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Ford Mustang GT350 seen and heard in motion for the first time
Fri, 27 Sep 2013We just recently saw our first spy shots of the next-gen hi-po Ford Mustang slated to replace the Shelby GT500, but now we're getting our first look - and listen - of prototypes captured on video. Mustang6g.com has the video (along with some different spy shots), which show that, if nothing else, SVT knows how to tune an exhaust system. The :50 mark is a good example of this, but fast-forward to around 2:00 where the driver revs the engine and really gets on the throttle hard taking off from a stop.
There's still no definitive evidence that the next-gen SVT Mustang - said to be called GT350 - will be naturally aspirated, but it sounds just as menacing as the current Shelby GT500. While the video posted below exhibits the sort of quality that is to be expected from someone driving while trying to film someone who is attempting to elude being filmed, it's still exciting to see and hear this new Mustang in motion.
Car technology I'm thankful and unthankful for
Mon, Nov 27 2017The past few years have seen a surge of tech features in new vehicles — everything from cloud-based content to semi-autonomous driving. While some of it makes the driving experience better, not all tech is useful or well thought out. Automakers who are adept at drivetrains, ride quality and in-cabin comforts often fail at infotainment interfaces and connectivity. From testing dozens of vehicles each year and in the spirit of gratitude, here are three car tech features I'm thankful — and a trio I could live without. Thanks Connected search: This seems like a no-brainer since everyone already has it on their smartphones, but not all automakers include it in the dashboard and as part of their nav systems. The best ones, such as Toyota Entune, leverage a driver's connected device to search for a range of services and don't charge a subscription or require a separate data plan for the car. I also like how systems like Chrysler Uconnect use Yelp or other apps to find everything from coffee to gas stations and allow searching via voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: It took two of the largest tech companies to get in-dash infotainment right. While they have their disadvantages (you're forced to use Apple Maps with CarPlay, for example), the two smartphone-integration platforms make it easier and safer to use their respective native apps for phoning, messaging, music and more behind the wheel by transferring a familiar UI to the dashboard — with no subscription required. Heated seats and steering wheels: I really appreciate these simple but pleasant features come wintertime. It's easy to get spoiled by bun-warmers on frosty mornings and using a heated steering wheel to warm the cold hands. I recently tested a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe that also had heated armrest that added to a cozy luxury experience. Bonus points for brands like Buick that allow setting seat heaters to turn on when the engine is remotely started. No thanks Automaker infotainment systems: Automakers have probably poured millions into creating their own infotainment systems, with the result largely being frustration on the part of most car owners. And Apple CarPlay and Android Auto coming along to make them obsolete. While some automaker systems, such as Toyota Entune and FCA's Uconnect, are easy and intuitive to use, it seems that high-end systems (I'm looking at you BMW iDrive and Mercedes-Benz COMAND) are the most difficult.
Editors’ Picks October 2022 | Electric trucks and some excellent SUVs
Wed, Nov 2 2022This month sees a bevy of totally new or totally redesigned cars gain Editors’ Pick status. Important EVs like the F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV quickly jump into the list, and they do so with authority, as all our editors love these trucks. The Range Rover is always a superb experience, and this generation proves to be no different. Plus, the new generation of Kia Sportage continues to surprise and impress. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in October that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 GMC Hummer EV The Four-Wheel-Steer system lets the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup m View 17 Photos Quick take: The Hummer amazes as an electric supertruck with its wild acceleration, incredible off-road capability, luxuriousness and epic utility. It's far from a "green" eco-friendly vehicle, but that's not the point of this technological powerhouse. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Raptor R, Ram 1500 TRX Pros: Stupid quick, tons of tech, off-road capability in spades Cons: Not efficient, annoying in tight spaces, price From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I don't think I've driven a more ridiculous vehicle this year, but that's sort of the point with the Hummer. There's a great argument against this sort of EV in that it doesn't live up to being an efficient and planet-friendly vehicle, but hey, that's not the point. The Hummer EV is a supertruck and wild technological masterpiece for off-roading in the same way that a mid-engine supercar is to track performance. It's not meant to be the EV everybody drives to work and back (mostly because few can afford it), but it serves as a line in the sand of what can be done with electric off-road trucks. This pickup rules, and if you can afford one, you're going to love it." Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder — "This Hummer revival is a showcase of technology and capability on the part of GM, making it an absolute blast to drive and a joy to use.
