Looking for an original 1955 Ford that hasn't been altered in anyway and been in the same family since late 1954? Up for sale is a 1955 Ford Town Sedan ----All Original Survivor ----black and white with green inside---Never repainted factory original!!!!!--First, the car is NOT running, and has been in storage INSIDE since 1979. 6 months ago it was moved to my drive-way, and it sits today. The car has the original paint, interior, chrome and stainless still on the car--- it's ALL THERE. One emblem on the trunk is bent (Ford-o-matic) but could be fixed if new one can't be found. The original hub caps are included (tires are going flat), no cracked or missing glass, original tube AM radio, and a dash that's in truly amazing shape for its age. The body is in strong shape, with some damage in the rocker panel under the doors on the driver's side----this is NOT a rust bucket and I have not seen any rust on the car popping up---always been a So-Cal auto since DAY 1 in the Los Angeles area---has 1963 black plates. Has ONLY 89,900 original miles!!!

Power plant is a 272 Y-Block V8 that was rebuilt in the mid 1960's by my grandmother and hasn't been messed with since. I believe this is the 182 hp 4bbl version, but will need to confirm. This 1955 Ford is an automatic (Ford-O-Matic) trans, and is a 6 volt auto---it could be switched over to 12 volt easily during restoration.

This is a restoration project car---but all the bones are here to make this a sweet looking original----could be on the road with about $2000 (tran rebuilt, tires, tail pipe)--hate to sell this, but I just don't have the time to put into this car----looking to sell it to a good home----If you're looking for a classic 50's car that's never been messed with for a great price, this 1955 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan is for you.

UPDATE:

The car's interior is original, but is not in great shape --it's torn in sections---been like that since the mid 1970's. There is a set of green seat covers that was placed on the car sometime in the late 1960's, and they have been on since then. Some of the cloth molding is worn and the drives door panel has torn in the cloth section. As I said, it's all original and never altered---so the car can return back to day one stock (since nothing has been removed) or custom the car out.

The paint does have chips, scratches all over the car, but this was a daily driver up until 1979 when it went into storage---the car seen about 25 years or wear and then stored. As for rust---I've been getting questions about that---looking around the car, I'm seeing no rust popping up on the body. The car was stored inside for 33 years, so it wasn't sitting out in the elements.

The door locks, truck and ignition keys will need to be replace.

Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]

Sun, 08 Dec 2013

The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.

Ford board OK with Mulally stepping down earlier

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

Ford's board is open to CEO Alan Mulally stepping down before his planned departure in 2014, inside sources are telling Reuters. Ford's plan of succession, aside from who would be his actual successor, has been something approaching common knowledge - the 68-year-old former Boeing exec had plans to stay through 2014. This was recently confirmed by Mulally himself on Bloomberg Television and in Automotive News.
Motivation for the about-face comes from what Reuters calls a "growing confidence" in the current crop of Ford execs, led by Mark Fields. Fields, Ford's current chief operating officer, has been tipped as Mulally's ultimate successor, although he's far from the only person with eyes on Ford's top job. Normally, Ford's board saying they're open to an executive, that's done very well for the company, stepping down early would be nearly unremarkable. It's the timing of this announcement, though, that makes this a big piece of news.
Recently, Mulally has been the subject of rumors that he's interested in taking the CEO position at tech giant Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington-based company's CEO, Steve Ballmer, told the media in August that he'd be retiring in a year's time. The fires were stoked when tech website AllThingsD speculated that Mulally would take the top spot, despite denials from the man himself. Could Ford's current boss become the new top dog at Microsoft? Will Mark Fields replace him? Could recently departed Renault exec Carlos Tavares land at Ford in some capacity? Let us know what you think below in Comments.

Ford workers vote to ratify new four-year UAW contract

Sat, Nov 16 2019

DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union said on Friday that rank-and-file members at Ford have voted in favor of a new four-year labor contract with the No. 2 U.S. automaker. The UAW will now focus on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), the sole remaining Detroit automaker without a new labor contract. Talks with FCA are expected to begin on Monday, a UAW spokesman said. The union said 56.3% of Ford's hourly workers voted to approve the deal, which allowed the company to avoid a strike like the one that cost its larger rival General Motors about $3 billion (GBP2.3 billion). UAW leaders said earlier this month that Ford under the deal agreed to invest more than $6 billion in its U.S. plants, and to create or retain more than 8,500 UAW jobs. The deal also includes pay raises and lump-sum payments over the life of the contract, a pathway to full-time employment for temporary employees and unchanged healthcare coverage. Workers at GM approved a deal in late October that ended a contentious 40-day U.S. strike, the longest automotive labor stoppage since 1970. Detailed terms of the Ford deal — released just a week after GM workers approved their new contract — echoed those agreed to with GM, as the union typically uses the first deal as a template for those that follow. UAW leaders managed contract negotiations with Ford and GM, including the lengthy strike, while struggling with an ongoing federal corruption probe. To date, 10 people have pleaded guilty in connection with the criminal investigation into illegal payoffs. Just last week former UAW vice president and former GM board member Joseph Ashton was charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud. Earlier this month the UAW said that its president, Gary Jones, who had been linked to the ongoing corruption probe, was taking a leave of absence. Rory Gamble, the union's acting head, said last week he will examine every department of the union in response to the spreading federal corruption probe to prevent future misuse of members' dues.
