A TRUE SURVIVOR
1955 FORD FAIRLANE TOWN SEDAN

76,400 ACTUAL MILE - ARKANSAS CAR
Sold new by Randall Ford Ft Smith AK

Here is a true survivor and a fun car to drive

272 V8 Y Block with 3 on the tree. Has newer radial white walls and a newer dual exhaust with glasspacks (installed 2005). I have receipts that relate to heads/carb, clutch and brake repairs from 2002-2003

This car is a joy to drive and runs great. It is completely original except for the items listed above. A solid Arkansas car has good floors and is 98% rust free. Has some small amount of rust through around rear wheel openings as shown in photos. Some scuff dents on passenger side. Original paint, original interior. Still has the factory chalk marks under the hood. Interior is faded, front carpet is disintegrating. Front seat shows some tears. Foam rubber on both seats is dry and powdery.Original style uphostry available through LeBarron Bonnie. Chrome and trim is presentable as original. Radio works intermidiately (car is missing it antenna assy). Wipers don't work

Car runs and drives good. I drove it last year on the Woodward Dream Cruise with no issues. After 3 hours in stop and go the temp did start to rise a bit. Front sway bar rubbers are dried out so it rattles. Rear engine seal leaks some. Gas tank vent hose is cracked so you can smell a bit of gas if the tank is full. Since last year I have put about 2,000 miles on this car.Lots of fun AS IS!

This car was bought new from Randall Ford in Ft Smith ARK by an Army Colonel from Camp Chaffee ARK. It was sold again in 1958 to another gentleman in FT Smith and remained in his family until 2004 having made its way to Wisconsin sometime in 1998.

I have names and addresses of all the owners, the original owner's manual, original Ford Service Policy and some of the original registration cards through the years. Also have the original Randall Ford Dealer insignia that attaches to the trunk lid.

Car is located near Ann Arbor Michigan.

Last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible nets $500k for charity at Barrett-Jackson [w/video]

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

The last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible was sold on Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Reno, Nevada, for $500,000. Ford donated the Mustang to be auctioned for charity, and all of the money is going to the Brain Injury Association of America.
Parnelli Jones, winner of the 1963 Indianapolis 500, was there on behalf of the BIAA with his son Page, who suffered a brain injury in a sprint car crash in 1994. The bidding increased quickly, reaching $500k in no time, spreading a bit more hope to people who live with brain injuries.
The winning bidder will be able to choose the GT500's exterior, interior and stripe colors, and is scheduled to receive the car, signed by Parnelli Jones in appreciation for the donation, by the end of 2013. Watch the video below to see the auction-block action.

Ford blimp crashes inside Portland Trail Blazers arena

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Portland basketball fans got a free, very safe recreation of the Hindenburg disaster when a Ford airship crashed into the stands during a game between the Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers. Reportedly no one was hurt, but arena staff trying to push the inflatable vehicle through a hole it was too big for, made for some fantastic video and photos. This content is hosted by a third party. The first gives an idea of just how hard it was to fit the blimp through the exit of the arena, and the second is a time-lapse look from someone right next to the action. All these clips need is Yakety Sax as background music for some true Internet gold. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
