__________________________

Here is the story of this car.

This car was built at the San Jose, California Ford Plant and spent most of it's life in SUNNY, DRY, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA !!!

I am a serious Car Collector or as my Wife a Kids say a Car-a-holic. I love '56 Ford Fairlanes and always seem to be looking for one to drive and enjoy. I have built and owned dozens in my lifetime. I MUST HAVE FOUND a hundred '55's BEFORE I FOUND ONE DECENT '56 FOR SALE. I bought this car from an older private collector friend of mine  a while ago literally within minutes of finding out he had decided to sell it. He had spent several years restoring and fixing the car up. He did some of the work himself and had various professional shops do  what he could not. It was a long and exhausting process. By the time he was finished life change issues forced him to sell the car before he could enjoy it for very long. I am very glad to have owned it.

It was a finished,  running and driving car when I purchased it. I had actually purchased the car he built prior to this one and sold to finance this project. From my experience owning that car I knew this car was built correctly. THIS GUY SIMPLY DOES NOT CUT CORNERS.

Since that time I have done little to the car except to drive and enjoy her for what she was, which is a good looking, fun car. A couple of weeks ago I took her to "The Cruise To The Woods Car Show. I had a great time cruising the car around the Iowa Countryside and the Fairgrounds for several days. The car handled city traffic and bumper to bumper fairgrounds cruising with ease. I had a great time.

This car has been primped inside, outside, top to bottom. SHE LOOK'S LIKE A MILLION BUCKS !!!!

As I said at the start, I am a serious Car Collector. As such, this means I like to find, buy, collect, play with, improve  and own a car for a time. Then it is time to pass them along for someone else to enjoy while it is still FRESH. That time has come...I've owned the car for a while....I'm ready to move along !!!

THIS CAR RUNS AND DRIVES SO WELL AND IS SO COMFORTABLE THAT WHEN YOU YOU GET TO YOUR DESTINATION YOU WISH YOU HAD FARTHER TO GO !!!

The BODY- SUPER SOLID and LASER STRAIGHT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CAR. This car never sat in a junkyard, a farmer's field on a barn and has not been pieced together with bits and pieces of other junk cars. This was a solid, running, driving car that sat in a loving owner's garage. I can show you pictures of this car when it was stripped to the bare metal shell. The FLOORS are SOLID. The Body Mounts are SOLID. The Trunk Floor is SOLID. The Fenders, Doors, Rocker Panels, Quarter Panels, Hood, Top, Drip Rails and Trunk Lid are SOLID. The Right Front Fender has had a 50 Cent Piece size patch welded into the bottom and the RR Quarter Panel has had a patch welded into the wheel lip. As far as I know that is the extent of rust repair. ALL OF THE REPAIR AND BODY WORK WAS PROFESSIONALLY DONE AND IS EXCELLENT. The hood, trunk and panels line up nicely as a '56 Ford should.. SUPER NICE BODY !!!

The PAINT-  Professionally applied, Basecoat/Clearcoat PPG Deltron Polyurethane which has been color sanded, buffed and glazed to a stunning "Wet Look" SHINE ! The Builder owned an automotive parts store that sold PPG Products so it is ALL PPG from the primer up. The colors are PPG Hot Colors Pearl Hawaiian Teal and Lexus Pure White Pearl.  These are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS COLORS THAT POP IN THE SUNLIGHT and look right on a Fifties Car. Obviously there are a MINOR few chips, scratches  as one would expect on a car that has been driven which have been touched up. EXCELLENT PAINT !!!

The INTERIOR and DASH-  LOOKS BRAND NEW. This interior was done  by Phil Richardson of Phil's Auto Trim. Phil does Street Rods and Collector Cars Exclusively for customers Worldwide. He has been doing all of mine since the 1960's. His work shows up in the car magazines all of the time. The style is correct for a '50's style Mild Custom and it is done in glove soft  Teal "Ultra-leather" and White Naugahyde. It is soft, comfortable and easy to clean up when you spill your malt on the seat. The Front Seats are SUPER COMFORTABLE late model Lincoln 50/50 Six Way Power units. The 1956 Fords had one of the most beautiful dashes of the '50's and this one is no exception. Uncut with a full set of modern Dolphin Gauges  set in the stock pod. STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL INTERIOR !!!

The CHROME and TRIM- Combination of NEW, Re-chromed, Restored and good originals. Front and Rear Bumpers have been RE-CHROMED.  The grill is straight and an excellent original. The Front Turn Signal Pods are very nice originals, some small pits but shine nicely. The Stainless Trim is nice original and much of it has been re-polished.   NOS Club Sedan Emblems on the doors. NEW Trunk V and Emblem. Nice ORIGINAL Door Handles. The rest of the trim is original and quite presentable. Fifties cars are all about cool chrome and this one has it !!!

The ENGINE and DRIVELINE- Powerful, totally rebuilt, Thunderbird Y-Block V-8 with Factory 3-Speed Overdrive Transmission. The body tag says the car came with a 292. I was told the car now has a  rebuilt 312 with a T-Bird Cam. I believe what I was told but I know of no sure way to tell a 312 from a 292 from the outside.  There are only TWO sure ways to tell. One is to pull a head and mic the cylinders and the other is to pull the trans and clutch to check for the dimple in the rear Crankshaft Flange. Neither of those are going to happen while I own the car so I won't guarantee the displacement.  I WILL GUARANTEE THAT IT IS A Y-BLOCK.  It runs FLAWLESSLY with a T-Bird type lope on the idle. NEW Four Barrel Edelbrock carburetor on the original cast intake manifold with Dual Exhaust and Cherry Bomb Glass Packs. "Oh, the sweet burble of a Y-Block with pipes !!! " These engines have a sound all their own !!! Pertronics Electronic Ignition and Positive Crankcase Ventilation.  Everything on this engine is NEW or rebuilt. As with all Y-Blocks it is not ashamed to drip a little oil on your garage floor.....it is a 50's Ford after all. That's just something they will do. New cars do it too. If you don't believe me go to the mall parking lot and look around.....those oil spots DID NOT come from a '56 Ford.  The Transmission has been rebuilt, shifts silky smooth and the Factory Overdrive works FLAWLESSLY improving the highway cruising manners immensely. The driveshaft and Rear End have been rebuilt. EXCELLENT ENGINE and DRIVELINE !!!

The FRAME and SUSPENSION - Nice SOLID frame.  All four springs have been rebuilt or replaced as have the shocks. 2 Inch Dropped Spindles with Granada Disc Brakes on the front. Dual Master Cylinder and all NEW Brake Lines.  FACTORY POWER STEERING !!! Front Suspension has been totally rebuilt.   The car drives and stops nicely. Everything is GOOD !!!

The WHEELS and TIRES- 15" American Racing Aluminum Wheels with Uniroyal Tiger Paw Radial Tires. NEAR NEW !!!

The GLASS-  NEW Windshield. NEW Vent Wings. NEW Door Glasses. NEW Rear Side Glasses. Original Rear Window. NO CRACKS. NO CHIPS.  NEW Windshield Rubber Seal. NEW Rear Glass Rubber Seal. NEW Window Channels and Fuzzies. NEW Vent Rubbers. NEW Door Seal Rubbers. The Door Windows have after-market Street Rod type power window kits installed. These will work perfectly one day and be lazy the next. I'm not sure if it is a temperature deal, an electrical deal or if they will improve as the channels and fuzzies wear in a bit. They have never let me down but may need some attention. EXCELLENT GLASS !!!

DATA TAG INFO: VIN- M6RT125482,  BODY-70 C,  COLOR- JE ,  TRIM- BJ , PRODUCTION CODE - 14L 601C.

OTHER STUFF- This is a GREAT looking car that turns heads and gets a lot of compliments every time I drive it. To me this is the perfect kind of car as I like to drive my cars and enjoy them rather than just polish them and trailer them to a car show. The Lights light. The Blinkers blink. The Gauges gauge. The Wipers wipe. The Horn toots. In other words, this is a REAL CAR and not just a shiny paper weight.  The Factory Radio is there but not hooked up. There is a VERY nice aftermarket JVC AM/FM CD  Remote Control Stereo mounted under the dash. The Clock probably quit working in the Fall of 1956 just like all the others.

This car looks, runs and drives GREAT !!!

I know of NOTHING you will need to worry about or attend to !!!

If you think you can buy a cheaper car and make it as nice as this car for less money go ahead and try. You have my blessing. You are only fooling yourself.

$32,000 buys you 8 weeks ( 320 hours) of LABOR in a good shop.

That's with

 NO parts,

 NO materials,

NO   interior,

NO wiring work,

NO  engine work,

NO  exhaust work,

NO  driveline  work,

NO CHROME PLATING,

NO STAINLESS TRIM RESTORATION.

NO Glass,

NO wheels or tires and

NO allowance for a CAR to START WITH !!!!!!

Most of these cars spend a YEAR or TWO in the shop,

racking up THOUSANDS of HOURS in labor costs and

TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in parts and materials !!!

If you know what you are looking at you will quickly realize that

this car CAN NOT be duplicated for anything close to the price you can get it for here !!!

Plus, it's ready to drive and enjoy TODAY !!!

******

As you can see I've tried to cover it. If I missed something I'm sorry.

Forza Horizon announces January Recaro Car Pack with LFA N"urburgring Edition

Wed, 26 Dec 2012

Another month, another car pack for Forza Horizon. This time it's the Recaro Car Pack featuring a motley gang of cars and trucks: the 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500, 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R, 2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV, 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR, 2012 Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition and 2012 Lotus Exige S.
It'll be up for download on Xbox Live on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 for 400 MS Points. As usual, if you have the Forza Horizon Season Pass you can get them all free, and Season Pass holders will also get a bonus car that's not pictured: the 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster.
The Pagani is everything opposite to that Vandura, but while you might not ever win anything with the van, you can always use the back of it as a place to give out free hugs. Check out the video and press release below for more details.

Ford car-camo artist works his craft on Australia's new Falcon XR8

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Ford is among the kings of concealment when it comes to test cars. On one recent Mustang SVT mule, the automaker went to the extreme of putting baffles over the exhausts to hide how many there were. Sounds like a lot of work, right? In a new video, the Blue Oval has decided to take fans behind the scenes to show them what it takes to camouflage a prototype. In this case the subject was the recently unveiled 2014 Falcon XR8 for Australia.
Ford's prototype build coordinator Down Under has the very appropriate name of Neil Trickey, and it's his job to obfuscate the important bits of test cars to keep them out of spy shooters' camera lenses. Trickey calls his job a "dark art," and he shows off some of the tricks of his trade in the video. It turns out that the fabric we often see on mules is a type of lycra, but his team isn't above getting out a can of spray paint to conceal parts, too.
Scroll down to watch a video about a man who you probably wish could be a little worse at his job.
