Solid Low Mileage Original on 2040-cars
Newark Valley, New York, United States
Have owned this truck for about 28 years, having bought from friend in Maryland. It still drives like new and is currently inspected and licensed. It runs sweet and smooth, steering and brakes are good. Not driven in winter, it has near zero rust, only on flange at bottom of bed side. Bed is fair to good with only slight deterioration at forward end on one side. Rubber all matches and is good. Interior is good except for seat back on pass side which got baked from the sun. Could stand new door seals. RH cyl head has slight crack (external) and has had the entire time I have owned it, but it does not lose water. Underside of truck is in great condition. Tailgate is perfect. I have driven it 400- 800 miles per year and may have to add less than 1 qt of oil. It is sprung stiffly and could stand to have a leaf or two taken out of the rear springs. I have always wanted to make a dually out of it to create the truck Henry never built. Ford did make a few in the 30's with the express body (9"). This truck also has the long bed. However, at 74 I am running out of runway and have too many trucks and projects at this point in life. Envision this truck looking as great as some of the better 53's you see but unique and standing apart from the rest due to the low numbers and survival rate. Again, it would make a great dually! |

2016 Ford Explorer revealed with new 2.3-liter EcoBoost
Wed, 19 Nov 2014
A 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder takes over where the old 2.0 left off, making 270 hp and 300 lb-ft.
Right now, around 23 percent of all Ford vehicles sold in the United States is a utility vehicle. By 2020, Ford expects that figure to increase all the way to 29 percent. Put simply, SUVs and crossovers are very big business at Ford. So, when it comes time to update the Explorer, Ford's original sport utility vehicle, you can be sure that a whole heck of a lot of effort goes into the process.
Ford reveals Fiesta ST race car, points at road ahead for bigger things in Global RallyCross
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST doesn't go on sale until this summer, but fans of Global RallyCross will be able to catch the car in action before then. Announced ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, the Fiesta ST will be the car run by Ford GRC teams this season, and the model on display in Chicago will be the racecar built by Swedish tuner OlsbergsMSE driven by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. Ken Block and his newly renamed Hoonigan Racing Division will also be competing in the Fiesta ST.
The 2013 GRC season has not been announced yet, but the venues will also include the summer X Games events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and, of course, Los Angeles. Ford announced that it will be the sole automotive sponsor of this year's summer X Games, and it will be looking to bring home a gold medal this year after Block placed silver last year.
In other Ken Block- and Ford-related news, another Chicago debut will be a tuned Focus ST called the TrackSTer project. Built in cooperation with Block, Ford and automotive tuner fifteen52, the TrackSTer will get plenty of styling, performance and handling upgrades. Some of the add-ons include a performance exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Racing, a rebuilt engine, upgraded components such as the limited-slip differential, intercooler, engine controller and clutch as well as upgraded brakes.
Ford spills SEMA all over its Expeditions
Sat, 01 Nov 2014If you're going to this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas, it's going to be tough to miss the Ford booth, simply for its size. The Blue Oval is bringing over a dozen customized examples of the 2015 Mustang and a quintet of modded Transits. The latest announced addition is a trio of upgraded 2015 Expeditions showing different takes on the recently refreshed SUV.
Any vehicle tuned by Dub Magazine needs to ride on massive wheels, and the Expedition (pictured above) that it has for SEMA is no exception. The SUV has 26-inch Dropstars wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires, and, making them look even larger, the suspension is also lowered. The rest of the custom has some mild upgrades like mesh grilles in front, tinted windows, an integrated radar detector and new upholstery inside.
Tijn wants to boost the performance of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 for its take on the Expedition. The company claims to add 40 horsepower to bring total output to a claimed 405 by upgrading the engine with a charge cooler from Vortech Engineering, a custom side exhaust and a custom tune. To match the extra grunt, the SUV also gets bigger brakes, an Air Lift suspension and 24-inch, copper-colored wheels with custom fender flares.
