This 1979 F350 Custom, dual rear wheel truck was owned since new by a friend. I am the second owner. The truck had 28,472 miles when I bought it in 2003 and now has 35,774 original miles. It has the heavy duty 300 straight six motor and the granny low T18 four speed, synchronized in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The truck is geared for power but will do 65-70 easily on the highway. The power steering works perfect, power brakes work perfect, and the truck tracks straight. I put heavy duty tires on the truck and the tires are in excellent shape.
I used the truck very lightly, hauling firewood for personal use and going to the lumber store occasionally. I recently had the muffler replaced and the shop said the exhaust manifold has some thin cracks and will eventually need to be replaced. The truck runs ok but the carb needs rebuilt I believe. I recently replaced wires and spark plugs.
The truck has some dents in the hood but mostly the roof, where a tree limb fell last summer. The local junk yard has hoods for around 75 bucks. It also has some dents in the drivers door and some dings here and there. The body is solid and not rusted because it was garaged most of its life (not the last few years). I liked the truck with the patina and never painted it, but it could use a paint job. I painted the front john deere green and just never got around to painting the rest of the truck. The original color is on the doors and cab which I believe is hunter green metallic.
The inside is in nice condition except the roof was pushed down some in the middle and needs to be straightened. The truck is fine as is. The dent does not get in the way of people sitting in the truck. Note I put three pictures right after limb fell, showing cab lights still sitting on top of roof after being smashed.
The truck has a working 8000 pound winch which works, but missing winch lead (have to use screwdriver to touch contacts) and new tool box under truck.
I hate to sell this old truck but I have too many vehicles.
The reserve is low.

Ford EcoBoost smashes records at Daytona
Thu, 10 Oct 2013Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes... heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this - this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway.
What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship. The car, released just last week, is powered by a new 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 from Ford's EcoBoost family, and just obliterated the top speed at the track with a blistering 222.971 miles per hour through the traps.
That's enough to annihilate the previous record that was set, also under Ford power, by Bill Elliott while placing his Thunderbird on pole for the 1987 Daytona 500 that he would go on to win. His 210.364 mph record had stood for 26 years until now.
Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it
Fri, 11 Apr 2014Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.
Recharge Wrap-up: Daimler spending big for fuel cells, Ford Go!Drive experiment advances
Fri, Mar 20 2015Ford's Go!Drive experiment is entering its beta phase in London. The project, which is one of the automaker's global smart mobility experiments, uses a mobile app for on-demand carsharing of Ford Focus Electric and Ford Fiesta vehicles. The beta phase involves increasing the number of available vehicles from 20 to 50, and collecting new data from users. The program offers one-way rentals and guaranteed parking, with no membership fees and a cost of 26 cents per minute. Ford hopes to get 2,000 drivers involved in the program. The company expects cost savings "in the range of hundreds of millions of euros until 2020," while maintaining its workforce of 18,700 employees and adding 150 vocational training positions. The upgrades will allow the plant to become a center for building more efficient engines, hybrid powertrains and fuel cell systems. "Alternative drive systems are an important element of our future mobility," says Mercedes-Benz's Markus Schafer. "Their share of automotive production is set to steadily rise over the next few years, complementing our highly efficient engines within the portfolio. This is what we have laid the groundwork for today." Read more at Reuters, or in the press release below. The Department of Energy is providing $20 million in funding for the development of more efficient high speed industrial motors and drives. Ditching old motors and gearboxes for ones that use integrated power electronics could help decrease the energy consumption of the industrial sector, which currently uses more than 25 percent of the electricity generated in the US. The projects being funded will reduce losses and decrease the size of drive systems used in industries like petroleum refining and natural gas, which could affect the lifecycle efficiency of transportation fuels.
