Interior in great shape. Radio does not work, does have power but appears speakers may have come unplugged from radio."

Up for sale is a 2003 Ford F-350, short wheel base, four wheel drive dually.  6.0 Diesel engine.  I purchased this truck from a Ford dealer in 2008.  In 2009, I had a new, Gooseneck brand, steel flat bed installed.  The truck has Nitto Terra Grapplers with approx. 75% tread left.  It has aftermarket 4" exhaust from the turbo back.  It also has aftermarket Bully Dog air filter.  A Bully Dog programmer is also included with the truck.

The body is in great shape.  It does have a couple small dings, nothing major.  The interior is also in great shape.  Always smoke free.  This truck is the XLT package, but it does have the rubber floor mats.  I've always kept rugs and floor mats down to keep the floors looking new.  It also has cloth seats in good shape.  The radio in the truck did stop working a while back.  There is power to the radio and everything works, just no sound.  The speakers have likely come unplugged in the back of the radio unit.  The truck has no antennae ( my wife drives a 03' Excursion, hers was ripped off in a car wash, so I took the one off of my truck and put on hers since my radio wasn't working.

The steel flat bed on this truck was set up for a welder (rig welding bed).  Since this is a short wheel base, the boxes on top of the bed were custom made.  It does have a bottle rack custom made as well.  I've included a couple older pics with the welder on the truck.

Over all this truck is in great shape.  It runs, drives well.  I bought this when I was traveling a lot working construction.  I pulled a 24' travel trailer with it.  I'm not traveling as much anymore, so I don't really need this anymore.

A $500 deposit will be required from the winning bidder.  Paypal is acceptable for this.  I prefer you pay the remainder in cash when you pick up the truck.  A cashier's check or money order is acceptable, but will have to clear before you take possession of the truck.  I prefer you pick up, if not, shipping is your responsibility.

Thanks for looking.

Ford Escort returns... as a concept

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Ford is kickin' it old school at the Shanghai Motor Show for 2013 with a new Escort Concept - "a name that stirs up thoughts of basic, affordable transportation rather than great driving dynamics or bold design" as we said in our initial preview of the small C-segment sedan. Or, as Ford puts it, "Customers in China described seeking a vehicle that is stylish - but not one that is arrogant or pretentious." Potato, potahto...
It's an interesting amalgam of design notes with Ford's recent and stylish hexagonal grille up front, flanked by some pretty busy LED light clusters and chrome-trimmed air intakes at the lower extremities of the fascia, but the Escort Concept is not altogether unattractive. Besides its external appearance, we really don't have much information to report - Ford has not yet hinted at what may be powering this little machine, but we'd expect something with four cylinders and less that 2.0 liters of displacement sending a modest number of horses to the front tires.
It probably goes without saying, but we don't expect to see this Escort make its way to the United States, since we already have the Focus and the Fiesta battling it out in the econobox segment. That said, it's very likely to spawn a production model that will roll out here in China and in other developing market where multiple C-segment entries are becoming increasingly common. Check out our high-res image gallery of live images above, and let us know what you think of the car's styling, then scroll down below for the official press release.

Muscle wins big at 2013 Amelia Island Concours as 1936 Duesenberg, 1968 Ford GT40 take top honors

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The 18th-annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance took place this past weekend, and in one of the show's biggest years yet (bringing in more than 25,000 spectators and attracting more than 300 vehicles), two powerhouses ended up winning the judges' hearts. The top Concours d'Elegance award went to a 1936 Duesenberg SJN, while the Concours de Sport went to one of the celebrated marques, a 1968 Ford GT40.
Owned by Helen and Jack Nethercutt of Sylmar, CA, this flawless Duesy is described as "one of the most powerful open cars of the 1930s," and it displays design cues of the era like rolled fenders and a tapered rear end. The SJN's supercharged straight-eight allowed it to accelerate to 100 miles per hour in just 17 seconds - surely not a disappointing feat for its day.
On a much different level of performance and timelessness, this Gulf-livery GT40 from the Rocky Mountain Auto Collection is not outdone by the elegance of the big Duesenberg thanks to some well-documented racing history. This not only includes winning at LeMans in both 1968 and 1969 - Chassis No. 1075 also managed to win a total of six times in just 11 races.

Pickup prices rising at 2x industry average

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We've said it before, but bears repeating: Pickup trucks are the financial engines of America's automakers. Good thing, then, that the segment is in rude health - in fact, Automotive News is suggesting that pickup truck sales are arguably healthier than they were pre-recession, even though the segment's volume is still significantly down from where it was before the bottom fell out of the US economy. That's because per-unit profits on full-size trucks are skyrocketing, outpacing the industry's average price increases by more than double since 2005. According to data from Edmunds, the average transaction price of a full-size pickup is now $39,915 - a heady increase over the $31,059 average price in 2005 - a gain of over 8 percent after inflation is factored in.
Just how important are trucks to automakers' bottom lines? Automotive News quotes a Morgan Stanley analyst as saying the Ford F-Series is responsible for 90 percent of the company's 2012 profits, and General Motors isn't far behind, with the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins chipping in about two-thirds of the automaker's earnings.
Automotive News points out that Detroit's automakers now have the money to invest in modernizing their full-size truck offerings, in part because they don't have the same overhead and legacy costs that pushed General Motors and Chrysler into bankruptcy. Certainly, the pickup segment has seen a lot of innovations as of late, including turbocharged V6s, coil-spring rear suspensions and active aero. Those improvements in important areas like fuel economy and ride comfort have given existing pickup buyers new reasons to upgrade. In addition, automakers are piling on the tech and luxury goodies, creating more and more high-content, high-profit models like the Ford F-150 King Ranch, Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn and Chevrolet Silverado High Country (shown).
