2001 Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab Pickup 4-door 7.3l on 2040-cars
Phoenix, Arizona, United States
As much as I hate to, I am selling my truck to start another business. I've owned this beauty since 2008, when I bought it from a dealer who got it from an Army Pilot in fort rucker. It had 169,000 on it then, and has 211,000 now.
It's been my backup truck, hasn't seen any heavy towing or abuse, and is in IMMACULATE mechanical condition. The outside I would rate an 8.5/10. Been indoors almost every night since I've owned it. Has power mirrors, power drivers seat, and stock radio with 6-CD changer. The injectors/glow plugs are fresh, FORD, and upgraded. The Luk clutch is a dream to drive, the wiring harness is NEW, the ball joints are NEW, and it has a custom tow/economy PCM flash. This is NOT a hot-rod, hasn't been ragged out or towed a bobcat around all day. It has done some RV towing, moved my bikes around, and towed the tractor a few times. Fluids/Filters have been done on time, and this has NEVER had a DROP of any alternative fuel through it. These trucks, with this motor, in this condition are VERY tough to locate. ALL work has been done at PowerStroke Specialty in Buford GA, and the owner himself will vouch for this thing's condition. His website is very informative. I have many, many thousands of dollars in work done to this truck, and it is priced accordingly. Some of the parts for these motors are getting tough to find (like the wiring harness) and this one has already had them replaced. You're welcome. The suspension is top notch, and has been attended to. I am NOT going to listen to lowball offers. I have had 2 of these for 7 years now, and been around the block on fixes, both bad and good. I'm personal friends with Bill Hewitt (powerstrokehelp DOT com) and he has looked after this thing up until last christmas, when I moved to Phoenix. No smoke from oil fill, no skip, nada. This motor runs like a scalded dog. Boost tops out at around 23.5psi, showing turbo is at full capacity. Truck currently has a professionally installed and tuned SuperChips Digital Propane Injection kit. I will gladly take it off and keep it, and knock $850 off the price. If you tow, and aren't a complete moron, propane injection is THE way to go for extra power, clean burn, and longevity. 6 speed manual transmission, and 2WD. This is a purpose built truck to tow safely, efficiently, and comfortably down the road for YEARS to come. I'm not going to re-sell you on the idea of the 7.3 - it does that on its own. However, I've had 2 of these for years now, and I can tell you that stuff does wear out on them. My other one is the workhorse, and has 360K on the dash. This one is my baby, and looks accordingly. Has a full turboback 3" MBRP exhaust. Sounds great, and gets 21mpg if you keep your foot out of the throttle. . .. On the interior, the only modifications are the addition of a boost gauge and pyrometer on the pillar, and I made a custom shift knob from solid walnut on my lathe, which has a shotgun brass for an accent. (I bird hunt a lot). If you don't like it, the stock one is in the glove box. Parking brake needs fixing, but to be perfectly honest, the stock parking brake on these didn't do much when it was brand new. Has 5th wheel rails in the bed, and a spray-on bedliner. Tailgate has been replaced with a stock white ford one after last one got dented. Yes you can come test drive. No you cannot joyride around. 211,xxx on the dash. Shell Rotella every 3500. Batteries are AC Delco, and sit on a tender at least 2x/week. Detail items that I am attending to this week are: - New LED bulbs on roof of cab - new fuses - new A/C compressor (it's HOT here in phoenix....) Located in a warehouse (this thing stays in a garage, always) near Cactus Road and 51. |

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. Ford 'working very hard' on F-150 hybrid
Thu, Dec 4 2014The lighter, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 gets (at best) 26 miles per gallon. That's not bad for a truck that size – and we should always remember that improving gas guzzlers can make a big difference – but what if the popular truck came with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain? How efficient would that be? We heard Ford talking about such a vehicle last year, and now we learn that Ford is still "working very hard" to make a F-150 hybrid happen. You want details? Well, we all want details, but those will not be coming for quite some time. Last year, Ford's global product development chief, Raj Nair, said that the company was planning to have hybrid pickups and hybrid SUVs on sale by 2020. With fuel prices dropping, Nair is now saying that a hybrid F-150 makes more sense, financially, than a diesel, but Ford could make both options available, depending on customer demand. The diesel wouldn't require all that much work, Nair said, since "we've got diesels in the portfolio." To date, the only hybrid F-150s we've seen have been conversions, often PHEVs, like this example from HVET or this one from Quantum. Pickup trucks from other manufacturers haven't been greeted with huge sales numbers. General Motors stopped making its big two-mode hybrids and cancelled the next-gen program.
