The best year 7.3 diesel for it's solid engine block this year only (Many builders seek out this year block for it's high HP rated forged pistons). I care about maintenance and fixing what needs to be fixed. Recent water pump replaced, glow plug relay, fuel filter and oil change. Spare tire is new and matches tire size on truck 285/75r16 load E. Brake pads look good and everything works as it should. This truck is a 4 door with the rear door opening backwards after the front doors are open. Lots of room in the back seat area as compared with earlier year Fords. Real clean interior (I don't let my kids eat or drink in the truck). Front seat cover was $200 and I bought to protect the seats when I go cut wood or am dirty. The origional seats are good. Non smoker. Power everything, cruise, air, and rear sliding window. Auto trans billet built for towing($5000) with trans-command from Banks($500) rebuilt better than new 30k miles ago. Fluid just flushed and refilled after break in on transmission. 4 pillar gauges. Trans temp, boost, egt and fuel pressure (I like to see that everything is going good). Truck has been stock all of it's life but I added the chip recently to try and squeeze out more mpg. High pressure hpop 17*, Tom Wildman 6 position chip for towing/economy or power($500), tailgate off a newer Ford because I like the Super Duty badge ($500), 4 inch lift, new shocks, airbags for heavy loads, toolbox, hitch with brake control, runs great clean truck. I also have a 5th wheel tailgate you can have. I am only selling because I am downsizing to a small truck. I think it's a great deal for a solid truck and if it does not sell I am happy to be it's owner still. Paint and body are perfect aside from the driver side rear wheel well trim and a little scrape on the bed that I included a picture of. No rust at all. No leaks (see pictures). I will provide a smog certificate for California or Nevada buyer. Smog is good. I have a lot of dollars in thi truck and the things that needed to be upgraded have been for a reliable and strong truck. This is the last time I will list this truck because I am about to change my mind about selling it. Thank you for looking and God bless.

Junkyard Gem: 1993 Mercury Topaz GS Sedan
Sat, Aug 13 2022As long as the Mercury brand existed — a period spanning the 1939 through 2011 model years — nearly every Mercury sold in the United States was more or less a redecorated Ford model. The Torino had its Montego sibling, the Crown Victoria had the Grand Marquis, the Cougar was based on everything from the Mustang to the Mondeo, and so on. Naturally, when the folks in Dearborn developed the Ford Tempo compact, a Mercury version had to be created. This was the Topaz, with the official launch of both cars taking place on the deck of the aircraft carrier often referred to as the USS Decrepit. You can't make this stuff up! The Tempo/Topaz, also known as the Tempaz, has largely faded from our collective automotive memory by now, since it broke no significant new engineering or styling ground (this story would be much different if Ford had only put the amazing straight-eight "T-Drive" Tempaz powertrain into production) and didn't have any endearing features other than being a cheap domestic competitor to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Still, close to 3 million Tempazes left North American Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms during the 1984-1994 period. As you'd expect, most of these disposable cars disappeared from both the street and the car graveyard long ago. It takes a very special Tempaz for me to break out my camera while I'm patrolling my local wrecking yards; generally, this means an ultra-rare all-wheel-drive version or at least a very early model in super-clean condition. Today's Junkyard Gem is neither, but I took one look at this spectacular Bordello Red crypto-velour-and-slippery-plastic interior and recognized that this was no ordinary junkyard Mercury. It appears that Mercury had dropped the idea of clever names for base-grade seat fabrics by the time of the Topaz, referring to this stuff as just "cloth" in all the brochures I could find. That's too bad, because Mercurys had cool names for upholstery (e.g., Chromatex) in the old days. The interior is in very good condition but the steering wheel shows substantial wear, so I think this is a high-mile Topaz that got meticulous care from its owner or owners. Ford used five-digit odometers on these cars until the end of production, however, so we'll never know if this reading indicates 65,404 miles or 365,404 miles. The body is very straight, but there's some nasty corrosion behind the right front wheelwell.
Has the auto industry hit peak hybrid?
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Hybrids are known for their great fuel economy and low emissions, but it looks like given current market conditions, only about three percent of new car consumers are willing to pay the premium for them. A new study from IHS/Polk finds that the hybrid market share among overall US auto sales are falling, despite more models with the technology on sale than ever before.
The study examined new car registrations in March from 2009 through 2014. In that time, the auto industry grew from 24 to 47 hybrid models available to consumers, but market share for the powertrain remained almost stagnant in that time. As of 2009, hybrids held 2.4 percent of the market; it fell slightly to 2.3 percent in 2010 and grew to 3.3 percent in 2013. However, 2014 showed a drop back to 3 percent. Overall hybrid sales have been growing since 2010, but they just aren't keeping up with the total auto market.
According to IHS/Polk, this isn't what you would expect to see. Usually, each new model in the market brings along with it a boost in sales. The growth in hybrid models 2009 to 2014 should have shown a larger increase in share for the segment.
Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy
Sun, 31 Aug 2014Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).
