Runs good with a built 390 and a C6 transmission. Has an upgraded distributor with an electronic coil."

This pickup is an overal 7.5 out of 10.  It looks good, runs good but needs a smaller carburetor so that it will idle smoother.  Currently it has a 750 Holley on a built big block 390.  This is an older restoration and it has been on the dry side of Oregon since before I owned it.  I purchased the vehicle 4 years ago and have put roughly 1000 miles on it.  There is no rust in the rocker panels as everything was cut and patched when originally restored.  The bed has a little rust in it but overall it is in good shape.  There were lights on the cab which I had removed and professionally welded closed to prevent any future leaking through the roof.  The same was done with an antennae hole that was leaking but now does not.  The interior seats are in great shape.  The back of the front seat could be replaced but the cushions are great.  The transmission takes a few minutes to warm up when I leave it sit for a couple of months without driving it.  Once it is warmed up, it runs great with no problems.  The valve cover on the passenger side leaks some oil under a heavy pedal.  Ordinary driving does not result in any leak.  I do get about 12 miles to the gallon with it but have been wanting to transplant a 12-Valve cummins in it but have not had the time.  With the divorced transfer case, this is actually a relatively simple swap.

2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid

Thu, 02 May 2013

No Prius Killer
As much as we enthusiasts like to rail on the lowly Toyota Prius as the harbinger of death for all we hold dear, there's no denying the machine's absolute and interminable grip on the hybrid hatchback market in the United States. Toyota has so thoroughly sunk its teeth into the segment that you can clearly hear the automaker's incisors clacking against one another with the conclusion of each financial quarter. And there's little wonder why. Buyers can plop down less than $25,000 and have a runabout that can return up to an estimated 51 miles per gallon in the city, leaving every other entry on the market with precious little gristle to gnaw on.
Enter the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. With its claimed 47 mpg combined, the funky little hatch from Europe already falls behind the 48 mpg city offered by the Prius, but that marginal sacrifice in fuel economy could be a small price to pay for buyers who want a credible alternative to the stalwart Toyota. Unfortunately, like the Fusion Hybrid, the C-Max Hybrid had trouble even approaching its Environmental Protection Agency estimates during our time with the car.

Ford C-Max sales hold steady despite fuel economy fracas

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Despite the ballyhoo that accompanied Ford's lowering of the C-Max fuel economy figures, the Blue Oval is still seeing strong demand for the five-seat MPV, as Automotive News reports. Speaking to marketing boss Jim Farley, AN says that the controversy surrounding the C-Max's fuel economy figures won't force Ford to change its marketing strategy.
Ford lowered the fuel economy rating of the C-Max after public outcry and legal action by customers that were unable to reach the 47 miles per gallon promised by the window sticker. The new ratings were dropped about a month ago to 45 mpg on the freeway and 40 mpg in the city. Ford offered rebates for current C-Max owners, with $550 going to those that bought their car and $325 to lessees. The issue, says Ford, stemmed from testing standards that allowed the automaker to base the C-Max's fuel economy on the Fusion Hybrid, because they use identical powertrains. The C-Max's less aerodynamic shape wasn't taken into account, though.
Whether Ford's PR team handled the crises perfectly or people just aren't that bothered by a four-mpg drop in combined ratings, demand remains strong for the C-Max among consumers. Ford moved 3,000 units in August, which was a 12-percent jump over July sales. Meanwhile, consumer demand through third-party shopping websites remains strong as well, according to Autometrics, a data analysis company that spoke with Automotive News. While the long-term effects of the adjustments remain unknown, the C-Max appears to have fared well in the near term.

Ford picks Fiesta ST, Transit Connect as this year's SEMA darlings

Sat, 02 Feb 2013

SEMA is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the GT500, the Raptor, or anything from Lincoln.
Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to Ford with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. The complete proposal is due on March 1, winners will be notified by May 1. Click the link below to get all the details, and for show attendees, get ready to see some funky Fiestas and wild shaggin' wagons in Las Vegas come November.
