YOU KNOW WHAT THESE TRUCKS GO FOR ON HERE THIS ONE IS WELL BELOW THOSE WITH SIMILAR OPTIONS AND THIS MILEAGE. THE GOOD: I JUST SPEND NEARLY $1000 ON THIS TRUCK. THIS WEEK I PURCHASED TWO NEW BATTERIES,A NEW WINDSHIELD, FLUID,GASKET AND FILTER CHANGE FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I ALSO JUST CHANGED THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER. THE REAR END HAD A DRIP SO I HAD THEM REPLACE THE FLUID AND GASKET ON THIS TOO. THE TRUCK HAS A NEW VACUUM PUMP AS WELL.THE AC HAS JUST BEEN CHARGED. NOW FOR THE KNOWN IMPERFECTIONS IN THE TRUCK: THE AC BLOWS JUST NOT COLD, COULD BE A SIMPLE FIX I REALLY DONT KNOW. THE TRUCK NEEDS A FEW TRIM PEICES ON THE INSIDE. LIKE A FEW MOLDING PEICES AND AN INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY VIEWED THIS LISTING YOU SAW THAT I POSTED THAT THE TRUCK WAS SHIFTING FUNNY. WELL THE TRUCK WAS OVERFILLED ON FLUID. IT NOW SHIFTS MUCH MUCH BETTER. THERE MAY BE A SLIGHT HESITATION BETWEEN THE 1-2 SHIFT, EVERY E40D IVE HAD HAS BEEN THIS WAY THO. IT ALSO NEEDS A SHIFT CABLE FOR THE TRANS. THE DISPLAY ON THE GAUGES DOES NOT INDICATE THE ACTUAL GEAR THAT ITS IN. Ford patents a multi-touch version of its classic keypad

Fri, Sep 9 2016

For decades, Ford has offered a keypad on the doors of their cars that would allow owners access with the right code. Amazingly, the keypad has survived almost unchanged except for a recent touch button version. A new patent from the Blue Oval shows the keypad may get a big upgrade soon. The first big change is that it looks like the keypad may move to the key fob. Although it might be possible to have it on the car itself as well, the patent only seems to focus on the key fob. In addition, the fob will now be a multi-touch pad similar to that of modern smartphones. This will allow for more diverse code entries, according to the patent's description. Instead of just a simple number code, owners could enter a code that involves swipes and keystrokes, and even simultaneous keystrokes. For instance, you could enter a code that requires swiping from 1 to 3, followed by holding 2 and 4 to unlock the car. The patent also seems to indicate that this keypad would then display unlock functions and other functions on the fob after the correct code is entered, thus making it more than just a way to unlock the car. As for the practical implications of this keypad system update, it could provide an added layer of security. If someone steals your keys, they would have to also know your access code to get into the car. Whether this would also help make the key and car harder to hack would remain to be seen, though. Another possible benefit could be the prevention of accidental lock and alarm button presses, although that likely isn't a common issue. There could be potential downsides as well. If used as an extra layer of security, the legitimate owner would have to punch in their code on the fob to get in, which would render proximity key benefits relatively useless. Moving the keypad to the fob would also mean owners couldn't get into their cars without having the key with them. We don't have any clues as to when this could become a feature, but it doesn't seem like it would be difficult to implement, so it could show up in the next few years. Ford won't be releasing GT500 lap times for the 'Ring, or any other car

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

Trucks have towing capacity, EVs have driving range and performance cars have Nürburgring lap times. What do all three have in common? They should all be taken with a grain of salt. Currently, there is no sanctioned way to record lap times or verify production-spec cars - a lesson we recently learned with the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo - and until there is a way to do so (and there probably never will be), we'll never officially know the actual time it took for Ford to lap the 'Ring with its ultra-powerful Shelby GT500.
After posting a Ford-made video of a 2013 GT500 running around the 'Ring, the guys over at SVTPerformance.com (an enthusiasts forum not affiliated with Ford or SVT) wanted more answers. They got in touch with Ford's Global Performance Vehicle Chief Engineer Jamal Hameedi, who said until there is a way to verify the times and inspect the cars, Ford will not get involved with lap-time wars. In the email, Hameedi pointed out that the 'Ring is a useful tool in that it allows a wide spectrum of track conditions, but until there is a governed way to record times, there is no way to accurately compare cars head-to-head.
And as much as some may not like it, Hameedi speaks the truth. It really isn't possible to compare times from one car to another, unless those cars were lapping the same track at the same time with the same driver. Not that any of this means there won't be continuous wars by fans and manufacturers alike... in other words, feel free to voice your opinions in the Comments below.

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible to recreate Empire State Building stunt

Tue, 25 Mar 2014

It would have been all too easy to miss the auto show debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible. It was, after all, unveiled alongside its fixed-roof counterpart at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, lumping coupe and cabrio into one debut. But Ford is evidently still intent on making its new droptop stand out. The top of the Empire State Building ought to do the trick.
Automotive history buffs may recall that, 50 years ago, Ford unveiled its first Mustang convertible atop what was then the tallest building in the world, that Art Deco icon of the New York skyline. Half a century later, Ford is recreating the feat and bringing the new topless Mustang to the same observation deck on the building's 86th floor.
Getting it up there, of course, will be no easy task. While they'd usually airlift the vehicle onto the roof or lift it by crane, the spire protruding from atop the building makes approaching the narrow observation deck too dangerous, and no mobile crane can telescope the thousand-plus feet it would take to get the pony car up there.
