Up for auction is a nice Ford F250 XLT 4X4 Extended Cab Power Stroke Turbo Diesel Truck, (that I'm selling for a friend). This truck has 136,429 miles. Gray exterior, gray interior. Air conditioned. Power locks, windows, and mirrors. Keyless entry. CD player, cruse control, trailer brake controller, hide-a-way 5th wheel hitch, receiver hitch, bed liner, running boards, brush guard, and four NEW Firestone TransForce AT tires. LT265/70R17 10 ply. This truck received regular maintenance by local Ford dealership plus had the following work done.....Replaced oil cooler, #5 glow plug, and two new batteries. Very Straight Truck! Now for the little flaws.....Look at Photo's...Drivers seat has two ware holes, rest of interior is good. There is a long scratch or strip of paint chips in front of drivers door where the mud flap came loose and the mud flap screw flopped and rubbed the paint. There is a paint chip the size of a quarter on lower drivers door. There is a little rust on the drivers rear wheel well. There is a little dent/scrape on passenger door above the handle about the size of a dime. The right mirror has the turn lens broke. There is a paint chip next to mud flap on passenger front wheel. There are some little rock chips here and there on the truck too small to photograph, Some of these flaws are hard to see, but are there. There are a couple of little faint stains on the seats and floor if you look hard enough. This is not a NEW truck, so don't expect one if you buy it, but it's not a piece of junk either. I'm listing these flaws because I believe in FULL disclosure! Check out my feedback!  Clear Title. $500.00 dollars down (non-refundable) within 24 hours of auction close via PayPal with balance in Ten (10) days of auction close. No Exceptions. Project Ugly Horse: Part VI

Solid axle? What solid axle?
I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation.
This should not have gone this easily. Having a long and checkered history of simple projects punctuated by much wailing and gnashing of knuckles, I was fully prepared to embark on a seven-day journey down a rabbit hole of broken bolts, internet hearsay and consternation when I finally decided to lay hands on the '89 Mustang with the goal of relieving the car of its stock rear axle. Instead, it took less than a full morning's worth of work to carve the old 7.5-inch solid axle from its moorings and mock up something, well, different.

MotorWeek finds nice things to say about the 1993 Ford Probe

Tue, Mar 8 2016

This latest in MotorWeek's series of Retro Reviews continues its recent trend of remembering the massive glut of sports coupes that hit the market in the '90s. While vehicles like the Mitsubishi 3000GT, Mazda RX-7, and Ford Mustang all enjoy solid reputations down to this day, the 1993 Ford Probe, well... doesn't. As you'll soon see, though, the show's opinion suggests the coupe's second generation isn't really all that bad. Turns out they just weren't particularly sporty. Ford and Mazda developed the Probe together, and the Japanese company supplied both the base 115-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and the 164-hp 2.5-liter V6 in the GT trim. The original's pseudo-angular look gave way to a much smoother shape for the second generation. Of course, pop-up headlights remained, which were a design hallmark for many of this era's sports coupes. After driving it, MotorWeek proclaims the Probe is "a winner" and considers the handling a "delight." That's not a big surprise, considering that in those days, a car had to be really bad not to get a decent review from Television's Original Automotive Magazine. However, the show hints at some of the reasons the coupe isn't so well remembered today. Even the GT reportedly suffers from soft springs and lots of understeer, which sounds like exactly the opposite anyone hoping to drive the coupe enthusiastically would want. To sum it all up, we're sure you're just as happy as we are that Ford went back on its initial plan to shelve the Mustang in favor of the front-drive Probe. Related Video:

Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.
