Original owner selling his first new vehicle purchased. 1985 Ford F250HD (8600 Lbs. GVW). Vehicle is in good condition for it's age with almost all original parts. The engine runs strong, does not smoke and has always passed the California smog test (last done Aug. 18/2012 for current registration) However as with some Ford PUs from this era the paint needs a redo, the rust seen in photos is only on the suface. It has had 1 clutch job, 1 brake job, 1 set of new tires, a couple of starters and water pumps, 1 fan clutch. The only other real major problem with the truck is that the rear tank is not pumping fuel. I have done trouble shooting on this problem as I am a equipment mechanic by trade and my conclusion is that the in-tank electric fuel pump is bad. Also missing rear tail gate. The truck is the higher weight rating F250 so that year it did not have a catalytic converter. Factory equipment includes: 460 cu in (7.5L) V8 w/oil cooler and Holly 750cfm carb, 4 speed trans(full syncro), 2 speed transfer case (w/internal oil pump), Posi rear axle (4:10 ratio), locking front hubs, front and rear sway bars, dual fuel tanks, AC, PB, PS, trailer towing package and dual exhaust pipes to muffler. Items I have installed include: Brush guard w/off road lights, extra 12 volt battery w/isolation solenoid, K+N air filter, new floor mat and head liner, saddle blanket seat cover, behind the seat storage compartment, upgraded stereo and speakers w/Sony pull out AM/FM cassette, transfer case skid plate, Airlift brand air overload air bags on rear springs with engine compartment mounted electric air compressor and cab mounted air controller (w/gauge, switch and valve), Craftsman toolbox, custom built pick up bed cargo rail system, bed liner, Barden brand HD rear bumper with 4 wire tow light plug, Class 3 tow hitch and camper electrical wiring. Extra items include: extra new parts: *DuraSpark" engine ignition control module, ignition coil and starter solenoid. Factory service manual set, tailgate net, original AM/FM/cass radio. I am the original owner and the truck was purchased from Doyle Motor Co. in Susanville CA on 9-26-85. Buyer will be responsible for shipping or pickup (I can assit as much as possible) Payment is by Paypal in full within 7 days or cash in person. Please note the truck is sold "as is" with no warranty what so ever and the sale is final. Please contact me for more info or pictures of the truck. I will respond to all inquiries .

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers
Thu, 12 Jun 2014For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
