1979 Ford F-150 Ranger 4x4

Up for auction with NO RESERVE is the Ford truck I thought I would never sell. I did lots of research and found the perfect truck, I thought would last forever. Unfortunately, my wife's grandfather passed, and his beloved pickup was going to be discarded. We've elected to save grandpa's truck for sentimental value, and...

It's a great opportunity for the right buyer.

I purchased the truck from a close friend of the original buyer. The truck was built in San Jose, and bought in 1978 by it's original owner, a Ford employee. The truck has been covered, or garaged for almost its entire life, and never registered outside of California. The original paint is in good shape for 30 plus years. It's an awesome blue, with subtle metallic flake. Overall exterior condition is very good for it's age. It is not a show truck yet, but with matching numbers, and almost all original equipment,  it certainly could be. The photos speak for themselves.

Modification's are minimal. The truck sits on a 2" body lift, which looks great! Also has an aftermarket chrome grill, and new model rearview mirror with temp and compass features. A small motor for a "hood squirt gun" was installed by original owner, but is not currently hooked up. Also a Flowmaster muffler is installed.

Mechanically, the truck is sound. Starter motor and ignition were replaced less than a year ago, and the truck fires right up! Motor runs well, shifts well, and brakes. Power steering works great! Drives Great! The truck is equipped with Power Assist brakes, but may need work. Stops with manual brake pressure fine.

Transmission is a 4 speed with Granny low. 4x4 works great, although I've used it very little.

NP 205 Transfer Case and solid front axel. The 6th generation F-150 is considered to be one of the must robust and durable truck designs from Ford.

I have never taken this truck off road, and it has been more of a Sunday Driver than anything for me.

Mileage comes in just over 71, 000. but my guess is it's been over once already.

The truck has a Sony CD player, FM/AM radio, and two JLB speakers, which sound great. A Cobra CB radio is also installed.

I'm also including rare factory service manuals, and a Weather Shield HD black custom cover, which cost around $500.

What else can I say? The truck is in great condition for is age inside and out. It's good to drive, and can be kept a daily driver, or customized to your liking.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

This is a truly awesome truck, and I'll miss it dearly.

Thank you, and GOOD LUCK! Did I mention, NO RESERVE!

I have described the truck to the best of my ability, and am selling AS-IS.

Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R named Road & Track Performance Car of the Year

Mon, Nov 9 2015

With a 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 that roars to 8,250 rpm, it's really hard to consider the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R an underdog in any fight. However, the Shelby held the lowest as-tested price and was only middle of the pack in terms of power in Road & Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year challenge. The 'Stang's numbers clearly didn't tell the whole story about the potent coupe because Ford's muscle car grabbed the title in this year's test. A model needs to be new or significantly updated to be eligible for the honor, and R&T found an impressive slate of eight candidates this year. The challengers included the Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper ACR, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and Porsche Cayman GT4. The Ferrari 488 GTB was the most expensive of the bunch with an as-tested price of $347,942, which is five times more than the Shelby. Once the group was together, R&T hustled them over curving roads and on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. There was a lot to love about the Shelby, even in this impressive crew. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," editor-in-chief Larry Webster said in the announcement of the results. The GT350R joins some great company. Past winners include the Porsche 911 GT3 last year and the Corvette in 2013. For some fantastic photography and the complete appraisal of these performance machines check out R&T's website for the full story. Related Video: ROAD & TRACK NAMES THE FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT350R THE 2016 PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR New York, NY (November 9, 2015) – Road & Track today named the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R the 2016 Performance Car of the Year, beating out seven of the world's best new sports cars. The article appears in the December/January issue, on newsstands November 17, and on RoadandTrack.com. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," said Larry Webster, editor-in-chief of Road & Track. "Not only does the car have soul and harness so much firepower with such ease, but the real achievement here is that it's so approachable. It's a car you can't help but love." The Mustang Shelby GT350R was the winner by a runaway vote.

This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum

Tue, Aug 27 2019

Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles.  The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
