2001 Ford Lightning Whipple Supercharger And Jlp Bassani Exhaust, Super Clean on 2040-cars
Provo, Utah, United States
You may have noticed the truck is relisted. This is because the other buyer was not able to work out everything as far as crossing the border/ customs to Canada. He thought about driving it back but had trouble completing the passport application process so we made a mutual decision to move on.
No trades. You can see walk around video at http://youtu.be/H4SnqGhzqVc Video for start-up, idle, and revs at : http://youtu.be/5SntTfVrYFM I bought this truck when it had about 7500 miles on it. It has never been wrecked. I am selling it only because of job commute and because of the snow here, I decided to just keep my AWD vehicle and sell this one. Only about 6000 miles since engine rebuild and there is NOTHING wrong with the motor at all. It is basically new. As you can see in pics, I took excellent care of it and did not drive it much at all except for short mileage commutes to work and the like which is why the mileage is so low. Always garage kept and only sat outside when I was at work and even then that was in the shade far away from other cars. When it arrives at your home, I think you'll freak at just how good the paint and body look. Truck got a few rock chips on the front edge of the hood but I touched those up with correct color code paint. Only noticeable when really close up to the truck. This truck is in exceptional condition. Exhaust is designed to have the four primary tubes slip into collectors. The top inside primary does not seal very well so there is an exhaust leak that you can hear at start up and at certain rpms. It was tack welded but the weld broke so you could tack it again. If my plan were to keep the truck, I'd have probably just had the header welded together as a solid unit. This truck does not throw any check engine lights or codes. In my county, I could have two "not ready" codes. This truck will read "not ready" for the egr and the evap system when doing an obd II test. Both systems are intact and complete on the truck. They needed to adjusted on the tune so as to read "ready" but I never got around to it and it did not matter for my county. Again, no codes/check engine lights come up at all. It just reads not ready when you plug into the obdII port. So keep in mind that you will need to have a tune adjustment if your county/state allows only one not ready code. But then again, it is recommended that you dyno tune and adjust your tune anyway for your specific altitude to get the air/fuels right anyway. The truck usually starts up on the first turn of the key but about 1/4 of the time the engine might turn over for 2 or 3 extra seconds before starting . It was not a big deal so I never worried about it but that can be tuned out if you are extremely particular. I was told that adjusting the crank pulse width on the tune would solve that. Front tires have full tread on the outside but have some wear on the inside one to two inch area where it came out of alignment. I do not think you will have any problem on this and the safety guy passed me with no questions (and I did not even know him). Truck was, of course, re-aligned after I noticed it had come out back then. Then for good measure I aligned the truck again on June 26th 2014 before I posted the truck on eBay. The rear tires are down to the wear indicator bars though and will definitely need to be replaced when you have it inspected. I thought about replacing them but decided not to and to let the buyer decide what tires they wanted in the back (i.e. drag radials or street tires). Just know that they will have to be replaced. Currently the tires are Nitto 555's. This truck has no spare tire provisions. 4inch sail panel that covers the lock mechanism of the tailgate from the inside is not there, but that is covered up by the bed-rug. The cruise control button doesn't work. I'm sure it's probably just a switch and a simple fix but I never drove far enough to care. It does have the FoMoCo cruise control harness upgrade that the dealership installed though. Occasionally the digital odometer/tripometer display will go blank but it always comes back on after a few starts or randomly while driving if it does this. Brand new items include the rear brake pads, windshield, AEM wideband kit, and battery. I will help you find shipping options. I have a good friend who ships cars all the time and he knows some of the best places to look already. I will give you 5 shipping quotes that you can choose from to help out and they will ship from my garage to yours. Of course, buyer is covering the shipping but I will get you the best prices possible. Again, no trades. I am not interested in trades. Current mileage is 71,969 but it may be driven slightly. |

2014 Ford Fiesta ST
Tue, 15 Oct 2013I'm not overly inclined to professional jealousy, as a rule. Sure, I go a bit green around the eyes when Ramsey draws the 911 GT3 trip to Weissach, Harley is tapped-in to drive a completely stunning Porsche 911 by Singer, or, you know, Drew Phillips gets to shoot a Lamborghini Veneno in the middle of a desert like some sort of sheik. I hate you guys...
Honestly though, one of the new car events that dug me the most, was when our Steven J. Ewing got to fling the Ford Fiesta ST around some hot corner of Europe. What goes around comes around, I suppose, as Mr. Ewing himself espoused an envious nature of the Focus ST trip that came before.
The good news in all this covetous intra-office behavior? All the cars mentioned, and specifically the Fiesta ST, are just wonderful to drive. I can say that with more confidence than ever now, having joined Ford for a good bit of Fiesta-flinging myself. In my case, the locale was slightly more pedestrian (Michigan not Portugal), and the car in question was the five-door version of the Fiesta ST that we get here in The States, as opposed to the three-door number they get across the pond.
Chevy Silverado frame twist test a marketing victory versus Ford
Thu, 16 Oct 2014The pickup market is so competitive that all three major American makers are constantly trying to find a way to prove their product is the best. The new 2015 Ford F-150 is grabbing headlines at the moment by winning awards and posting segment best numbers. But in a new video, Chevrolet is taking aim squarely at the 2015 F-250 Super Duty in a battle of heavy-duty truck supremacy against the 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD... well, in a single metric anyway.
The big numbers from pickups often come down to payload, towing rating and fuel economy, but for this test, Chevy and Howie Long are challenging the torsional rigidity of the trucks' frames, specifically which one flexes less. Long plays the everyman here having the Chevy engineer explain what's going on in the tests. Unsurprisingly for a video on Chevy's official YouTube page, the 2500HD wins out by a good margin. The company also reports that similar results as shown here have been certified in third-party testing.
Check out the video to see the full test. While this might seem like a marketing win for Chevy, Ford isn't immune to it, either. In 2009, the Blue Oval uploaded a similar video comparing the flex under 225 pounds of weight from the bare frames of the F-150, Chevy Silverado, Dodge Ram (as it was still called at the time) and the Toyota Tundra. The results fell in the Blue Oval's favor, as you can see here.
