Take look at a Great Deal on a 1999 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4. This is a nice truck in our opinion! And take a look at the miles, just over, at 119K. Not bad, not bad at all for the year, and this set up! This 1999 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 comes equipped with the POWERFULL 5.4 Triton Engine and Over-Drive Transmission, a setup made to run for 100s of thousands of miles as you can verify with other listings, on eBay, or otherwise. So whether you are pulling, driving, camping, or working you are ready to go, and look very attractive in the Deep Red Color of this truck.
The truck comes loaded with some very nice and functioning equipment! You have on board, 4x4 at the turn of a button, Cold working A/C, Power Windows, Power Lock w/ Key Fob, CD Player, and a Factory Cruise Control. Take a look as well at the Matching Color Topper w/ an interior Bed Liner. As you can see, this truck is nicely loaded with some very practical and useful options. NOT stripped down like many! That makes this truck quite versatile.
The motor on this truck is a powerful 5.4 Liter V-8 Triton Engine, a very expensive option on the truck when it was new. So you have all the power needed, and then you can just cruise with no worries, pulling, in 4x4, working or on the go with your toys hitched up behind. This motor starts very easily and sound just like any other 5.4 L that you'll find. Some say, what about the gas mileage??? There is really only 1 mile per gallon difference on the rating between a F-150 with a 6-cyl and this one (ref. fuel economy.gov), so why not have the no worries dependability of the 5.4 L. V-8. And if you ask around for the reality, the 5.4 can get even better mileage than the dot-gov rating. This has power, and a long life to live, in our opinion.
The transmission on the vehicle is tight, shifting thru all of the gears smoothly, no hesitation. Also the 4x4 is fully operational with 2 wheel high range, 4x4 high range and 4x4 low range. The brakes are all functioning and the ABS is working.
The interior of the truck is clean and not in too bad of shape. The main thing to notice is the edge of the driver's seat (see the photos). It has the normal wear spot for getting in and out of the vehicle, sorry that's a ford seat. The rest of the vehicle is very clean and neat in my opinion. It appears that the it was a "driver only vehicle" as the passenger side appears to be in exceptional condition. The center passenger seat does fold down to make an arm rest and a cup holder. This is in addition to the standard cup holders on the dash. The gauges are functioning on the dash, this does have the ford flaw that the odometer dims very low at times, but don't worry, it has never quit, you can see it working in the pictures and it usually is only dim for a minute or two. This is very common on ford trucks of this model year. The cap for the Over Dive Button is missing on the end of the gear selector. Again a very common flaw in the ford trucks.
The exterior of the truck has a Shiny Deep Red Paint. Very reflective as you can see in the pictures. The Matching Color Topper is very nice and the Truck Bed Liner (nearly new) makes clean-out or camping easy. There is a scuff on the fender flare/rear/drivers side (see photo). The Front Tires appear to be very close to new, and the rears are not far off. There is a spare tire under the truck bed. The chrome bumpers really make this truck stand out in my opinion. The things to notice on the exterior are the areas of rust on the bed and on the rocker panels, most are visible in the photos. Sorry again, these are very common rust points on this model year.

How privacy fears are driving automakers in the age of the connected car [w/poll]
Wed, Aug 27 2014A recent GAO report concluded car companies don't adequately disclose how and why they share location data. As cars collect and store more and more data about the whereabouts of their drivers, automakers are responding to critics who say they should be more transparent about how those details are used. Ford is hiring a global privacy policy attorney to craft the company's customer privacy policies in the era of connected and autonomous cars. "In this emerging space, there is an important need to address customer privacy policies," reads a job description posted on the "people and careers" portion of the company's website. "As part of our compliance and ethics organization at Ford, this person will have an immediate and direct impact in shaping existing and future policy and corporate thinking in this area." Ford is creating the new position, based at its Dearborn headquarters, at a time technology advances are outpacing privacy protections. Earlier this year, a report from the federal government concluded car companies don't adequately disclose to motorists how and why they share location data. That report, from the Government Accountability Office, found many car companies did not describe how they shared location data, did not allow consumers to request their data be deleted and that there was a "wide variation" in how car companies retained vehicle-specific or identifiable location data. It noted there is increased risk of location data being used in ways "consumers did not intend." Ford was one of 10 companies the GAO surveyed while compiling its report. Customers are opting to share that data largely by using features like maps and turn-by-turn direction that are run by a vehicle's telematics unit. Depending on the company, it can be unclear how that data is collected, retained or shared. At the time the GAO report was issued, AAA, the nation's largest motoring club, urged carmakers to be more transparent in how they handle data and to offer stronger security protections. Shaping Autonomous Car Regulations At Ford, the new hire could change how the company handles that data. According to the job description, the successful applicant will, "demonstrate visionary thinking around privacy strategy – imagine how consumer and employee expectations around privacy may evolve and how business should adapt, develop approaches that maximize the benefit of data sharing for consumers and business, etc." (Emphasis from Ford).
2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is ready to tackle Chicago's mean streets
Wed, Feb 11 2015As is the way of things, when a civilian vehicle gets a significant update, it's only a matter of time before its police counterpart gets similar upgrades. In the case of the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, it's debuting with the same visual updates as the Explorer on which it's based, at this week's 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Like the civilian-market Explorer, the PI Utility is available with a standard 3.7-liter V6 that pumps out 304 horsepower and 279 pound-feet of torque. The higher-caliber option is the tried and true 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, complete with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The standard Explorer's optional 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, meanwhile, won't be offered to the boys in blue. Regardless of engine, the Utility enjoys standard all-wheel-drive, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. The tranny's default setting is primarily for fuel sipping, although if it detects more aggressive inputs – based on brake line pressure, deceleration and lateral acceleration rates – it switches over to Pursuit Mode, offering officers snappier upshifts and more aggressive downshifts. The PI Utility's other cool, new system is called Surveillance Mode. To protect officers from sneak attacks, Surveillance Mode warns them when someone approaches the rear the car, raising all four windows and locking the doors. While Ford says the system has "intermittent fault filter technology" to prevent "erroneous changes in sensor signals," we're betting it won't be long before veteran officers uncover some way to prank rookies with the tech. Beyond these new systems, this is the same Utility that officers know and love, only with a significant facelift reminiscent of what's found on the civilian model, which debuted at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new grille has a positive impact on cooling performance, Ford claims, while a new headlight setup accommodates the high-beam-based "wig-wag" lights. The new look has also allowed Ford to offer police departments additional customized lighting options, for that special touch. Inside, a new steering wheel and center console should make officers' lives easier, as will the new (and requested) liftgate release button, found in the overhead console. Check out the first images of the new Police Interceptor Utility (and, sporty drivers, memorize that headlight pattern) up above. Be sure to check back for additional live images once we check out Ford's latest cop car, at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
2016 Ford Explorer configurator reveals $30,700* base price, Platinum starts at $52,600*
Wed, Nov 26 2014The a la carte menu for the 2016 Ford Explorer is ready for your... umm... exploring. The first page of the refreshed model's configurator reveals the lineup, including the new Platinum trim, and price increases for three of the carryover models. The base Explorer doesn't change by one red cent: it can still be had for $30,700. The XLT needs $33,400 (a $400 price bump), the Limited goes for $41,300 (a not insignificant $2,900 price increase), and the Sport requires $43,300 (a $200 increase). That new Platinum model goes where no Explorer MSRP has gone before, beginning at $52,600 (*all prices are subject to an $895 destination charge). However, since Ford has put almost everything in it, you can't jack the price up too much further unless you lose your mind in the accessories catalog. You can quickly head that way lower down the order, though. The Limited's price jump appears to be due to the voice-activated navigation system, which comes standard; it was formerly part of a $2,600 option package. The Limited goes up by just $995 when specced with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which raises the power over the 2.0-liter EcoBoost it replaces to 270 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but doesn't incur any fuel economy penalty. All-wheel drive tacks on another $2,000, safety features like active park assist and lane departure warning come as part of $3,000 Equipment Group A, and you'll still have another three pages of options to get through. On the other hand, if you just want to get your family bundle into an Explorer without spending a bundle, the base model doesn't offer any packages and only has one option over $200. Let the research begin.
