1998 Ford F-150 Xlt Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 4.2l - Stx Flareside on 2040-cars
Westport, Massachusetts, United States
I am the second owner and used it as a daily driver untill 2012 and occasionally after that. It runs good and doesn't smoke as I changed the oil approx. every 3000 miles. I had the rear leaf springs replaced a few years ago. It does run good but will not pass inspection. I had it looked at by a mechanic and I was told the fuel rail is stuck in the open position, so it is running to rich. Also it needs a new emissions cannister that is located over the rear axle and the bulb for the engine check light needs to be replaced. The brakes also need work as there is barely any, most likely due to sitting for the past 1 1/2. Most likely needs a new battery. The body is not bad as far as dents, defects are - faded paint, peeling paint, some rust and scratches. Tires are in fair condition, size P275/60R17. As far as the interior the headliner is falling, needs a new temperature control knob, the handle for the rear sliding window needs to be reglued and the drivers power window arm needs to be re-assembled (the power motor works). The air conditioning needs to be recharged or more due to sitting. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Contact me if you would like to inspect it before bidding. Thank You for looking! Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.
F-150 just the start of Ford's aluminum plans
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Not only have we been told that the 2015 Ford F-150 is tougher, more durable and up to 700 pounds lighter than the current truck, Ford COO Mark Fields said it's also "CAFE-positive." That means, for the first time in the history of corporate average fuel economy standards, the F-150 would be a positive contributor on Ford's CAFE balance sheet instead of being a vehicle it needs to counterbalance with frugal offerings.
Fields' comments made at the Detroit Auto Show were among quotes from other Ford execs that confirmed the carmaker will be using aluminum for more of its vehicles. CEO Alan Mulally said it would "proliferate across our lineup," with speculation being that we'll see it applied to crossover and sport utility models first, since they'll benefit the most. Even gaining the massive scale of using aluminum on the world's best selling vehicle for its first effort - on average, the company sells two times as many F-150s in a single day as Land Rover sells of its aluminum Range Rover in a month - Ford will be looking to further spread the cost of its five-year development investment in aluminum technology. And that should mean better handling and fuel economy for those of us who don't need to wear hardhats at the office.
