1998 Ford F-150 Lariat Extended Cab Pickup 3-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
I have for sale my 1998 Ford F150 Lariat Supercab truck. It has 56015 original miles. The truck runs and drives terrific, like a new truck. No rattles or squeaks, very solid going down the road. A/C and heat works perfect. It has never been used for work, trailered anything or abused in anyway. There are no leaks or mechanical issues. A very dependable truck. I have a current smog certificate also. It is basically fully loaded and comes with chrome running boards, bed liner, sliding rear window, 6 CD changer and leather interior. The leather shows some wear in areas but very clean overall and the changer can act up sometimes, for some reason does not read the discs in the changer. The paint is very nice and shines...is not sun damaged. It has some normal wear on it, some bumps and scratches...nothing major. The front brakes have just been done and at 55K miles I also changed the oil, which was always done at 3K miles. I removed the bed liner in the one picture so you can see the truck bed but the liner is in the truck and comes with it. It is just a very clean and great driving truck that should last for a lot of years. I try to be as honest as possible in the description. You can fly in and drive this truck anywhere you need to go. The only thing I can think of that the truck will need soon is tires...they drive nice and hold pressure just fine but I'm noticing some cracking in them. Any questions feel free to ask and I have more pictures also. I have a clean and clear Nevada title. I still drive the truck locally so miles will change a bit. Buyer is responsible for pick up or delivery within a week of auction end. A non refundable deposit of $500 is due 24 hours after auction ends, so please only bid if you are a serious buyer. The remainder can be paid in cash or cashiers check, but check must clear first before truck is released. Thank you and good luck bidding.

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines
Fri, 25 Oct 2013The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.
Ford bringing production F-150 to Detroit with Atlas styling and Alcoa blast shields
Fri, 27 Dec 2013According to a report in Bloomberg, the 2015 Ford F-150 will indeed be showing up at the Detroit Auto Show next month. It will bring attitude with it, not only in the form of sheetmetal inspired by the Atlas concept (pictured) that appeared at the 2013 Detroit show but also in the Alcoa military blast shields among the display being used to showcase the ruggedness of aluminum.
There's been a lot of talk about the F-150 switching to aluminum body panels (although maintaining a steel frame), and for good reason. The lightweight body is expected to shed more than 700 pounds and greatly increase its highway mileage, but production-line issues and possible delays have been a major focus of attention concerning the best-selling vehicle in America for 32 years, meaning Ford has to get it right. F-150 is responsible for a massive portion of the company's global profits and it will come in a year when company profits are already predicted to decline because of new car launches.
When it comes to dings, the Bloomberg story says Ford wants Alcoa to supply some of the military-grade aluminum it uses for blast shields on battlefield vehicles to help it talk up the toughness of aluminum. Reading commentary on the many stories about the F-150 reveals there are many more little questions about the aluminum overhaul, like "How much will it cost to repair and insure?" and "How will companies hang their magnetic signs?" Answers should start coming in a couple of weeks.
First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?
Thu, 18 Jul 2013A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.
