For sale is a 1996 Ford F150 Standard Cab short wheelbase truck. The engine is the Cleveland built 4.9L 6 cyl engine. I have replaced the fuel filter catalytic converter and O2 sensors. This truck will pass any E-check. This truck has no body rust and has a replacement bed and front fenders that were painted in a dark blue base coat with a clear coat. Truck looks good and has 17" chrome expedition wheels and tires with good tread. Engine runs great, with good oil pressure, no leaks anywhere and transmission shifts good in all gears. Has bed liner and new tailgate panel.
Now for the known problems; the gas gauge does not read full. The sending unit only registers 3/4 full when the tank is full. Heater and defrost blower has only high speed. Door locks are not keyed the same, the bed has two fuel filler doors but there is only the rear tank. Windshield washer fluid pump does not work. Air conditioning works but needs recharged with new refrigerant and seal kit.
I do not want to sell this truck. I have had similar short bed fords for the past 20 years. This truck is not collectible, but it is the last year for the 4.9 l 300 cu in. engine and Twin I Beam front suspension. These features were introduced on the F100 in 1965, and 1996 was the last year for both. This truck is the end of a successful era for The Ford F 150's, and I would like to see this one find a good home. I have been using this as my daily driver this summer and have had no issues. The reason that I will be selling this truck is that I have inherited my fathers GMC, and as much as I like my Ford, I cannot keep two trucks.
This truck would be good as a second vehicle around the house or farm, parts are cheap and plentiful. The drivetrain is bulletproof and there are many more years of service left in this truck.

Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant
Sat, 20 Jul 2013Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
