1978 F150 Short Bed 4x4 Reg Cab on 2040-cars
Springfield, Illinois, United States
Up for sale is this 1978 F150 shortbed 4X4. It has Fords bulletproof 300 6cyl motor which starts and runs good (see oil pressure in pics) backed by a 4 speed trans. Power steering and brakes. Speedo shows 15xxx we are sure its at least 115xxx. The 4X4 with manual locking hubs works like it should. Nice looking truck that a previous owner told me was redone 10+ years ago. Here's what I can say about it now. There is a new(very recent) right front fender and front bumper on it. It must have had a little fender bender because there is no other damage apparent. However the new red paint on that fender makes the faded 10 year old paint look a little lame. There are some rust issues coming back in the bed and bottom of the doors. I took pics of the floor that had been redone and undercoated they look ok. New carpet new bumper new fender nice JVC radio and CD. NO a/c or power windows this is a mans truck. The power steering leaks but I put on a new P/S pump and bought an overhaul kit for the box but don't have time to install(it will come with the truck). I think this truck sat for a while before I got it, I've been driving it around and the brakes are spongy but do stop you. Here's your chance to buy one of Fords classic body style to use as a firewood getter, mud toy or restore a little at a time while driving. These short bed 4X4's are getting hard to find at a decent price. Please do NOT expect a new truck for this price. Being sold as where is. Can hold a while for pickup. I will work with shippers or you can come here and get it. I require a 200.00 nonrefundable deposit. The rest in cash or certified funds on delivery. I will take PayPal for the entire price if you would like. Clear title in hand. I would like to keep it but I bought the wife a Jeep and need the room.

Ford reveals EcoBoost-powered Riley prototype for Daytona 24
Tue, 01 Oct 2013It's not the first time Ford has participated in the Daytona Prototype class as an engine supplier, but in revealing this new EcoBoost V6-powered Riley Technologies prototype for the new United SportsCar Championship, Ford is making a statement: "We want to show Ford EcoBoost's capabilities as an engine that provides both performance and fuel economy, on and off the track," says Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing.
In addition to supplying the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Ford had its production designer Garen Nicoghosian give the racecar brand-inspired design cues with support from Ford Racing chief aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus.
The car is scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25-26, but before that, Michael Shank Racing is working with Ford at another goal. Driving his Ford Thunderbird, NASCAR champion Bill Elliott set the track's top speed record at 210.364 miles per hour during a qualifying run for the Daytona 500 - way back in 1987 -- and Ford thinks it's about time for that record to fall. What better time the introduction of this new Ford-powered Daytona Prototype? Michael Shank Racing plans to use the twin-turbo V6-powered racer to beat Elliott's record, and it expects to begin prepping for the top-speed run on October 9. Scroll down for the full press release below on Ford's latest race effort.
Ford hybrids getting update to improve fuel economy
Tue, 16 Jul 2013Ford has announced that it is introducing "calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid."
We can speculate that these changes are at least due in part to lawsuits over mileage claims of hybrid vehicles. The automaker is enhancing 2013 models starting in August by raising their electric cruising speed to 85 miles per hour from 62 mph, optimizing the use of active grille shutters and the climate control system, shortening the engine warm-up period by 50 percent and reducing electric fan speed to minimize the fan's energy consumption.
It bears mentioning that Ford is doing pretty well in the US electrified vehicle market this year. The company claims to have grown its share in the segment by 12 points to 16 percent while taking a high number of Toyota Prius trade-ins in the process. Conversely, Toyota has experienced a five-percent drop in new-Prius sales over the same period. Additionally, Ford states that it has increased its share of the US vehicle market by one percent this year, more than any full-line automaker.
Ford F-150 RaptorTrax is Ken Block's ultimate snowmobile
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Even when Ken Block isn't starring in the latest Gymkhana video or tearing up Global RallyCross courses, he's finding new ways to redefine "awesome" as it applies to motorsports. For evidence of this, look no further than Block's latest Monster-badged creation, the Ford F-150 RaptorTrax.
Billed as the "world's fastest snowcat," the RaptorTrax started life as a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, and then a set of Mattracks were put in place where the truck's bead-locked wheels and meaty rubber once resided. The goal was to create a truck that made it easier - and presumably more fun - for Block and his buddies to hit the slopes on their snowboards. Aside from the obvious track upgrades, this truck also received a Whipple supercharger, full roll cage, Recaro seats, an in-bed snowboard rack, a roof basket and a rear-mounted winch - you know, just in case something or someone actually manages to get this truck stuck.
The RaptorTrax will be on display later this week at the Winter X Games in Apsen, CO, but we'll have to wait until next winter for a full Block-worthy video of the truck. A full press release from Hoonigan Racing Division is posted below, and a high-res image can be found by clicking above.
