*lifted* 1997 F150 Supercab *rebuilt Engine And Trans* One Of A Kind! on 2040-cars
Winchester, Virginia, United States
I'm selling my 1997 Ford F150. You will never find another truck in such amazing shape with the aftermarket parts this one has. It's completely rust free and has lots of aftermarket parts. See list below.
Good stuff: 1997 Ford F150 XLT SuperCab 5.4L V8 Automatic transmission Factory sunroof (no leaks) 4x4 Power everything Keyless entry Rebuilt engine with only 40,000mi Rebuilt transmission with only 40,000mi Rebuilt rear axle with less than 5,000mi 6" Fabtech lift 35" A/T tires on 16" black rims Axles regeared to 4.10 ratio Custom high flow true cold air intake (this actually connects to a hole in the fender to draw pure cold air) Electric fan conversion using a pair of Hayden fans with a Hayden controller Full custom true dual straight pipe exhaust Full aftermarket sound system with Pioneer head unit, hands free hookup, iPhone hookup, auxiliary hookup and speakers Cobra CB radio Billet grill Trailer brake controller Aftermarket carpet Brand new low-profile toolbox in bed Plastic bedliner Trailer hitch with full wiring Bad: Check engine light is on. I checked it and the only code showing is "Bank 2 rich". That means the passenger side upper O2 sensor needs replaced. About $20 for the part and ten minutes with a wrench has it in. It's dirty. I live down a gravel road, so it's covered in gravel dust. It's also got gear oil splattered on the underside of the bed from before the rebuild was done. I'm not using it anymore, so I don't feel like putting the effort into cleaning it. All in all, this is an extremely reliable and powerful truck with no rust, no leaks, and lots of aftermarket goodies. I just got a new truck. So, I don't need it anymore. You won't be disappointed in this one. |

George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]
Sun, 20 Jan 2013Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.
Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.
Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names
Tue, Mar 17 2015Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.
