Up for bidding is a 2002 Ford F-150 Sport 4X4, regular cab short bed, silver in color. This truck has the 4.2L V-6 motor with a 5 speed manual transmission. Truck runs and drives perfect. 126,xxx miles.

I've owned this truck since 2004 and it has been extremely reliable. The miles are mostly highway trips to and from Dayton Ohio to Marietta Ohio, and Davenport Iowa to Dayton Ohio. Truck has never been abused. Normal maintenance has always been completed on time. Very well cared for. The truck is now located in Gainesville Florida.

Here is a brief maintenance record:

Clutch assembly replaced by Firestone at 90,000 miles (they broke and replaced the starter at this time as well)

New alternator at 95,000 miles

New heavy duty battery at 120,000 miles

New Motorcraft spark plugs and wires at 125,000 miles

New Goodyear Dura Track tires at 125,000 miles

New Rancho off road shocks at 125,000 miles

New brakes (4) to include rotors, pads, and front calipers at 125,000 miles. Emergency brake was also serviced at this time (works great, very tight)

New motorcraft fuel filter at 125,000 miles

Oil changed religiously every 3,000-4,000 miles (started using Valvoline high mileage after around 80,000 miles). Normal maintenance also kept up to date (engine coolant, all fluids to include transmission, differentials, ect) Recent service and inspection completed on 26 June 2013.

The only downside to the truck is some normal wear and tear on the exterior. The front bumper has a couple scuffs. Both driver and passenger sides have rust on the lower portion of the rocker panel, all around. Cab covers have some rust. The drivers side front fender and part of the door has a dent from a parking lot hit and run (doesn't look that bad so I never had it repaired) Basically, to be perfect cosmetically it could use some rust repair and minimal body work. Or, just buy and drive it (perfect mechanical condition)

With all that said, I have taken extremely good care of the truck both mechanically and cosmetically. Pride in ownership shows. The rust is to be expected for an 11 year old truck originally from Ohio. The interior is near spotless. The dash and door panels are in excellent condition. I added wet okole seat covers and aftermarket carpet about 3 years ago. The window tint was done by Ziebart about 7 years ago; the drivers side could use a re-do (I have the receipt lifetime warranty by Ziebart for the tint)

Undercarriage sound deadener was sprayed on the frame and underside 1.5 years ago and still looks good. Truck has a class III hitch installed along with functional trailer wiring harness. Always kept extremely clean all around. Just waxed and polished with Wolfgang polish sealer--looks great.

Inspections are welcome. You won't be disappointed.

The only reason I'm selling is because I live and work overseas and the truck is just taking up space at a family member's home. Please, serious buyers only! Don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. Reasonable offers considered. Pick up and/or transportation are buyers responsibility.

Please ask any and all questions.

$500 deposit due via paypal within 48 hours of purchase. Remaining balance due before truck is picked up or shipped anywhere. Clear title in hand. Truck is 100% ready to go. Drive anywhere.

Thanks!

Car-crazy 5-year-old boy writes automakers for treasures, gets big response

Fri, Jan 25 2019

Part of the beauty of children is that they can find worth in something adults might deem unworthy or overlook entirely. Five-year-old Patch Hurty didn't see garbage or a broken piece of a car when he spotted a Ford badge lying on the side of a road. He saw an artifact, a souvenir, a start to a collection he could only dream of. Ezra Dyer of Popular Mechanics tells the story of Patch and his quest to turn that one lost badge into a museum of manufacturer logos. According to the article, Hurty is a car fanatic through and through, even using car names as a way of learning to read. After finding the Ford badge near his Connecticut home, he and his mom put together a plan to reach out to dozens of automakers, confessing his love of things on four wheels. In each letter, Patch assembled a picture of himself standing next to one of the cars, and a penny to pay for whatever he hoped was sent his way. The response was unexpectedly and overwhelmingly positive. Of the more than 50 letters he sent out, including to obscure or defunct companies such as Bugatti, Suzuki, and Saturn, a majority responded with warm notes and some type of souvenir. Two of the coolest responses came from Lincoln and Bentley. Lincoln sent a sketch of a Continental (all car lovers enjoy drawing cars, right?), and Bentley sent a wheel center cap. How awesome is that? The story reminds us of something that can easily be lost in all of the negativity involved with the auto industry: Everybody is in this because of a common infatuation with automobiles. For more details on the souvenirs Patch received and accompanying photos, read the rest of the story. Which is more fuel efficient, driving with a pickup's tailgate up or down?

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Thanks to the smoke wand in the wind tunnel, you can actually see the difference in our video.
Should you drive with your pickup truck's tailgate up or down? It's an age-old controversy that's divided drivers for decades. Traditionalists will swear you should leave the tailgate down. Makes sense, right? It would seem to let the air flow more cleanly over the body and through the bed. But there's also a school of thought that argues trucks are designed to look and operate in a specific manner, and modern design techniques can help channel the airflow properly. So don't mess with all of that: Leave the tailgate up.

Ford Fiesta ST GRC Racecar is hungry for podiums in 2013

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

As we reported earlier, the Chicago showing of this plucky Ford Fiesta ST GRC racer points to bigger and brighter days for Global RallyCross. For the upcoming season, you can expect to see Ken Block and Tanner Foust both driving the Ford racecar, and if last season's results are any indication, you can anticipate quite a few podium appearances, as well.
The Fiesta seen here was built by the Swedes at OlsbergsMSE, and will be driven in anger by Foust in 2013. Modifications are, as you'd expect, extensive, and include an engine, exhaust and braking upgrades, a racing style short-throw shifter and a limited-slip differential. As you can see, the car has been fully stripped out and caged for maximum speed and safety, too.
Refresh your memories with the details of the car, in the press releases below. And if you head out to the Chicago Auto Show this year, don't forget to drop by the Ford stand to have a look.
