Sharp Custom 1958 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck 460ci on 2040-cars
Central Falls, Rhode Island, United States
Beautiful 1958 Ford F-100 Pickup Let me start off by saying this has always been a Florida Truck! I bought this truck from the original owner. The truck has and comes with the original Florida license plate. Two years ago we decided to do the truck over. The paint was done but all the sheet metal is original, including cab corners, running boards, fenders, doors, bed etc. A Ford/Lincoln 9 inch rear end was installed, a C6 Ford Tranny and a 460 V8 was installed. The truck has a new Edelbrock Carb, electronic ignition, power brakes including disk in front. The air conditioning system is only 8 months old and works perfectly. Ice/ice cold. The truck runs and drives great and goes down the road with no rattles or squeaks. The truck is very fast and easy to drive. The only things that don't work are the temp and fuel gauges. All the lights work fine. The other aftermarket gauges work fine. I'm selling this truck because i recently bought a house in Florida and want to find a nice convertable to drive daily. Prior to buying the house i keep this down there in storage to drive when i make the trip down from RI. This is a great truck to drive. Check the pics, its in really nice shape. It's not a 30,000 or 40,000 dollar truck but its a great daily driveable truck. Perfect for local shows and cruise nights. If you have any questions please call me, Tony @ 401-316-0373. Thank you and happy bidding. |

Ford investing $500M in engine plant for 2.7L EcoBoost production
Sun, 30 Mar 2014Ohio is a hot area for Ford at the moment with the announcement just a few weeks ago that production of the next-generation F-650/F-750 medium-duty trucks would move from Mexico to the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. Now, Ford is investing $500 million to hire 300 workers at its Lima Engine Plant in Lima, Ohio, to add production of the twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 for the 2015 F-150.
The latest investment will be used to add a new flexible engine assembly system and renovate 700,000 square feet of the plant for machining and assembly areas. The Lima factory already builds Ford's 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter Duratec V6 engines. The plant opened in 1957, and it's on track to build its 40 millionth engine later this year.
Ford claims that the 2.7-liter EcoBoost will offer V8 performance with better efficiency in the F-150. It comes standard with intelligent stop/start that doesn't activate when the truck is towing or in four-wheel drive, and it's made from a combination of compacted graphite iron and aluminum for low weight and high strength. The company says that V6 engines have already proven popular in the F-150 with 57 percent of trucks in 2014 being equipped with either the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter or turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost engines.
Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars
Tue, 20 Nov 2012Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
V6 engines will outpace V8s for the 2015 Ford F-150
Wed, 23 Jul 2014How times have changed. Even five years ago, who would have thought the mighty V8 would be just another engine choice for buyers of the 2015 Ford F-150?
Ford is projecting about 28 percent of the next-generation trucks will have the 5.0-liter V8. That's nothing to sneeze at, but consider this: Ford figures its two EcoBoost truck engines - the new 2.7-liter V6 and the existing 3.5-liter V6 - will also each account for about 28 percent of the F-150's sales (56 percent total). That leaves only 15 percent of the pie for the 3.5-liter (non-EcoBoost) V6. The new F-150 goes on sale late this year.
