Submitted for your approval is a rock solid hard to find 1962 Ford F250 stepside truck. Includes California title with pink slip. Sold at a NO reserve. This truck was purchased at a local ranchers estate up here in the Owens Valley earlier this summer.

Consignee/rancher said he had unit running at one time and the carburetor leaked. I believe it will need a carburetor rebuild, fresh battery, & some TLC to get running again.

Exterior features: Straight original cab body with NO significant body damage/bondo or other repairs. Rock solid cab corners, floorpans, & rocker panels. All I have done was to blow the dust & dirt from the unit with my air chuck. Original 1962 Ford f250 F250 owners manual included. Uncut dash board. Original Ford AM radio included. Good window glass all around. Original interior has a torn bench seat which is pictured.

Powertrain features: Original 292ci. motor. Manual 4 speed top loader type transmission which slips in & out of gear correctly when clutch is applied. Good pressure on both clutch/brakes which function smoothly. Limited slip 4:10 ratio with 9" inch rear end. Unusual hydraulic ram operated step/dump bed. Tires look pretty darn good & all hold air presently.

Sold as is as pictured. This is represented as a original well preserved 50+ year old ranch truck. Nothing more nothing less.

Please note: Has some rust on middle sides of stepbed sheet metal from long term hay storage so repair or replacement of sheet metal will be up to the winning bidder. It is a 52 year old truck. Please bid with this fact in mind. Spare aftermarket white spoke steel rims (4) are included pictured in back of bed before cleaning out rear bed. Wood bed stringers were removed recently which are easy to replace. GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.

Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.

Four Wheeler crowns Ultimate Factory 4x4... who wins?

Thu, 15 Nov 2012

Nearly every automaker doing business in the SUV or pickup truck segments offers a package designed to improve the off-road capabilities of its wares. But, of course, not all such factory kits are created equal. How, then, to separate the wheat from the chaff? Gather each of them up and put them through their paces, naturally.
The folks from Four Wheeler and PickupTrucks.com joined forces to run just such a comparison test, with the winner named the Ultimate Factory 4x4. A total of seven vehicles showed up to the fight: the 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 2012 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X and Xterra PRO-4X, 2012 Ram Power Wagon, and 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail and Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series.
With the contestants in place, the whole crew put each vehicle through a battery of tests that included skidpad and acceleration measurements, a hillclimb, a rocky stairstep course and a rock garden. Considering the nature of the beasts, on-road ride and comfort were not part of the routine.
