California Survivor Short Bed Rare Truck 71 70 69 68 67 F150 F250 Bronco 390 4wd on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States

Super rare 72 Sport Custom Ford F100 shortbed, two tone, a/c, p/b, original CA truck. I acquired this neat truck from the 2nd owner since 1976 (see original ca pink slip with date) on a ranch in central California. Test drove it around the country roads and had to have it. Trailered it home and started cleaning it up (cob webs and hornets nests, etc. It ran great initially but was developing smoke from the left side. it turned out to be condensation, not smoke, and was diagnosed as the head gasket failing on that side. I have a video included in the 118 pictures link that shows the truck running in it's current condition, however starting it too much isn't wise with water in the system. Beyond that, this is a great truck. Brakes, trans, lights, heater, steering, etc... all seemed to be in good functioning condition. Truck is mostly rust free, and very solid. Main rust is surface area (mainly on the underside) only and I have documented the whole thing in pictures. I don't think there are any rust through, or even weak areas other then a small amount of battery acid corrosion in the tray directly under the battery itself. Extremely straight with no detected body fill or replaced panels. Just a 'good 'ol boy' truck that lived a dry CA ranch life. Not perfect, but hard to come by in this unmolested condition. For what it's worth, owner stated to me that the motor had very few miles on rebuild, but was 10 years ago. With a newer looking Holley Carburator and a few other exterior components, owners integrity, and the way it ran and drove, I believe this to be true, but no documents exist to support it. This would make an excellent start to a 'Patina' custom on a very RARE truck or a great candidate for a full resto. Great opportunity to the right buyer. Original CA blue plates, and small ca 'pink' slip title included. DRD Motor Trade is licensed bonded CA dealer specializing in rare CA finds like this one. Sale tax and any required reg/transfer fees due at time of purchase to all CA buyers. Link to 118 pictures and video of the truck running here: http://s761.photobucket.com/user/car-reras/library/72sportcustom Below are just a few highlights. Enjoy. All information on this listing is deemed to be true and accurate to the best of my knowledge. Sale is as-is with no warranty. |

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name
Thu, 07 Aug 2014
The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang to cost $52,995?
Mon, Dec 1 2014The 2015 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang was one of the shining stars of this year's Los Angeles Auto Show. And the Blue Oval's latest muscle car might even have reason to burn a little brighter if a recent rumor about its price proves true. Best of all are rumors that an even more potent version of the Shelby is potentially on the way. According to Horsepower Kings citing unnamed Ford sources at the LA Auto Show, the 2015 GT350 carries a starting price of $52,995, and the Tech package adds a further $2,995 on top of that. There's also the claim of a Track package for an undisclosed price. However, it doesn't look like LA is the last we'll see of the newest Shelby because the source also alleges that a top-rung GT350R is under development with bigger brakes, modified aerodynamics and sportier tires. This rubber-burner is reported to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Assuming these claims are correct, it puts the Shelby in fighting form against its two Chevrolet Camaro rivals. Ford reports that the GT350's 5.2-liter V8 pumps out over 500 horsepower and more than 400 pound-feet of torque. At $52,995, it would undercut by a couple of grand the $55,505 (before destination) base price of the 580-hp 2015 ZL1. The super 'Stang might also beat the 505-hp Z/28 with its power rating, while being vastly cheaper than the track-focused Camaro's $72,305 price. This could be quite the performance shoot-out.
Ford Focus was best-selling nameplate in 2012
Tue, 09 Apr 2013Last August, Ford made a few waves by claiming that the Ford Focus was, at that point, the top-selling car in the world. The automaker failed to account for variations of the Toyota Corolla wearing a different name (such as the Auris and Matrix), however. With official data from Polk coming in now, Ford is able to say that the Focus was, in fact, the best-selling nameplate in the world last year.
Using new-car registrations (which doesn't factor in fleet sales), the Polk data shows that a total of more than one million Focus models around the world. Strong sales in the US and China have led to a 16 percent increase in year-over-year Focus sales from 2011 that helped to create even more of a gap between it and the second-best global seller, the Corolla.
Ford also had the Fiesta and F-Series listed in the top 10 for worldwide nameplates, but what's even more impressive is the fact that the F-Series is only sold in North America. Scroll down to see the list (compiled by Ford using Polk data) of the top global sellers last year and a press release from Ford.
