You are bidding on an original paint 1975 Ford F100 Ranger XLT. I purchased this in Feb. 2011 with the intention of restoring it back to original. I drove it daily for a little over a year and then just used it when I needed to haul parts. Due to the present workload of customer cars I have decided to sell several vehicles that I bought to restore and this is one of them. It is an excellent basis for a full restoration or you can fix a number of small items that I will describe and drive it as a survivor. I do not see any evidence of collision and that paint is consistent over the truck which leads me to believe it has never had any portion repainted. The white portion of the paint is dull but will buff up a little - but remember it is 38 years old. The yellow portion is a little better and does buff out pretty well. It has a nice patina and makes it fun to drive on cruises, etc. The truck does need several things to bring it up to a nice standard. I will try to list them all. Since I purchased the truck I have replaced the following: Carburetor, distributor, fuel pump, oil pressure light switch, headlight dimmer switch, battery, EGR valve, spark plugs, spark plug wires, master cylinder, wheels and tires. Many of the parts were still functioning fine, but driving the truck daily, I wanted to head off any problems.  I have also purchased several parts that I have not yet installed. When I bought the truck, the previous owner had wired a toggle switch into the heater fan because the in-dash fan had gone bad. I purchased a new switch, but have not taken the time to install it yet. I would suggest doing this soon. The toggle switch is not rated for the current drawn by the fan and it and the wires get hot after a few minutes. I have a new interior light and lens that I will send with the truck. The truck has a 390 V8. It was originally equipped with a 360, but was told by the previous owner that when that engine wore out they installed a Jasper rebuilt 390 at somewhere around 110,000 miles. Supposedly at the same time the transmission was rebuilt, but I doubt it was rebuilt or I would have some concern about the rebuild. The truck does not always shift correctly and acts like there is a vacuum leak in the modulator. I think the torque converter may be dragging. The front seal is also leaking. Despite the transmission issues I would not hesitate to drive the truck daily again. I would suggest the new owner go through the transmission, especially checking for vacuum leaks and replacing the front seal and torque converter. Other issues, the air conditioning is probably low on freon, but with the bad fan switch I have not tried it. I prefer the windows down anyway. One or both rear wheel cylinders is leaking. The fuel gauge is not working at the moment, it quit a couple of weeks ago. I think it might be a loose wire or bad ground. There is a minor water leak around the windshield. I was going to replace the gasket when I repainted the truck, but that hasn't happened yet. The seat needs recovering, it has evidently been recovered once as the upholstery is not original. The driver side sunvisor is missing part of the rod that clips into place at the center of the roof, so that end just dangles around, but it does stay in place. The truck has very little rust. You can see where it is starting to appear around the rear wheel openings. There is surface rust in the bed, but no rust through. There is some rust inside the driver's side of the hood. It hasn't worked it's way through the outside yet. There is a small dent in the right front fender where the previous owner misjudged a fence post while backing a boat. Overall, for a 38 year old truck, it is in very good condition. As I indicated, it would make an excellent basis for a full restoration. Someone who has the mechanical ability could fix all of the issues with the truck relatively quickly and without a great deal of expense. They are only original once and trucks like this are getting hard to find. This truck is being offered for local pick up only. I will not ship. Also a $500 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction end. I also have this truck for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early.

Ford Announces Four Recalls, 1.4M Vehicles Affected

Thu, May 29 2014

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013. Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though. "Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software." The most recent generation of the Ford Explorer is suffering from a similar malady, thanks to an intermittent electrical connection (we think that means short circuit) in the steering column. Like the Escape and Mariner, manual steering would still be available in the event of a power failure. Ford will recall 195,527 examples of its Explorer, 177,500 of which are in the US. This recall covers model years 2011 to 2013. According to Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that Ford will inform owners of affected vehicles by July 25. Ford is also recalling 200,000 Taurus sedans, over a corrosion issue in the license plate lamp. This particular recall, which covers vehicles from model years 2010 to 2014, is limited to drivers in northern climes. Vehicle owners in southern states are free to pass on the recall. Finally, 82,576 Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ sedans from 2006 to 2011 are being recalled because of floormats that can interfere with the accelerator pedal. Dealers will replace the offensive floormats with newer examples. "Ford is committed to providing our customers with top quality vehicles. We are equally committed to addressing potential issues and responding quickly for our customers," Felker wrote.

Ford reserving 50th Anniversary Mustangs for service members

Tue, Dec 16 2014

Think getting your hands on one of the 1,964 50th Anniversary Ford Mustangs is hard as a civilian? Imagine how tough it might be for the Mustang fanatics in our nation's military. Perhaps recognizing this fact, Ford Emerging Market Services and the Overseas Military Sales Corporation (the only Ford-authorized retailer on the military's bases) ran a raffle, with the winners receiving the opportunity to purchase one of the limited-edition muscle cars. Ford EMS and OMS received 300 entries to the raffle, although with only eight 50th Anniversary Stangs to hand out, we imagine there were quite a lot of disappointed soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. "We are pleased to offer limited-edition anniversary Mustangs to members of our military through our Military Appreciation Program, and we are delighted at the response it's receiving," Doug Walczak, EMS' fleet sales manager, said. The first Mustang was delivered to Army Maj. Del Boyer, shown above. While Maj. Boyer took delivery in New York, the raffle was open to servicemembers both at home and abroad.

Ken Block's 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR and CR Supercars Villain are retro done right

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Gymkhana king Ken Block has had a pretty simple car history in his trademark videos, starting out with Subaru Impreza rally cars before moving into Ford Focus racers for the past four installments. His next video, though, Gymkhana Seven, kind of goes back in time.
Rather than the cutting-edge rally racers of past videos, Block will pilot a heavily modified 1965 Ford Mustang, called the Hoonicorn. How heavily modified is it? Well, Block's Hooligan Racing Division, ASD Motorsports and Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR, spent two years working on it, ditching the standard engine and rear-wheel-drive layout and replacing it with a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V8. Yes, that's a NASCAR engine, and it produces 845 horsepower.
A NASCAR-powered Mustang would be news in itself, but it's the other powertrain changes made by Block and Co. that really makes headlines. Power is channeled through a one-off Sadev transmission and all-wheel-drive system, meaning that Block has basically married a NASCAR stock car with a WRC racer. ASD also developed the customized suspension, tubular chassis and roll cage. The wide Mustang body is the work of RTR and Block's own Hoonigan Racing Division, while the 18-inch fifteen52 wheels are shod in Pirelli Trofeo R tires that use a specialized compound exclusive to Block.
