I bought this truck about 3 years ago for my better half's ambitious endeavor that never came to fruition!

It was a one owner truck when I bought it out of W. Covina, CA  It is a Southern California vehicle and has never left here. When I bought it it had 92k original miles and change and it might have 200 more than that now.So, I rounded it up to 93k. It's got the rarer 360 engine and it is a long bed, which also makes it rare.

It runs super strong!  The interior and exterior are entirely original right down to the hub caps.  It has never been in any accidents.  Other than a few minor rust spots and a couple scratches, 2 broken reflector lenses and it has one small issue. It doesn't want to hold a charge.  We changed the battery, the alternator and a few other things and if you run it frequently it seems to do better. But something is draining the battery and our mechanic thinks it might be an old worn out interior light or something minor. But here is the thing, I don't want to put any money into it. I want to part ways!! I am trying to patent something and I need the funds to help with that.

The rear view mirror, although there is unattached and one of the words, "Custom" on the rear quarter panel is partially broken. But, I have an original replacement AND an extra dashboard piece.  You will also get a cover that was custom made just for this truck!  We don't have a key. But, we will gladly let you have it!!

I work on the RAILROAD!  I will be out of town until this coming Friday!!  PLEASE BE PATIENT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!  Sometimes I have service on the rails and sometimes I do not. I will answer your question and the auction will end after I return. So, do not fear, I will respond.

As for payment. Deposit via PayPal and balance upon pickup.  I have title on the vehicle and it is completely clear. I am trying to locate it and have been unsuccessful. I will see about getting a replacement asap. But, it can be verified that it'a all mine and I have the right to sell it.

This vehicle is sold as is, where is, with NO warranties given OR implied!!  PLEASE DO NOT BID AND THEN READ!!!  That happened to the Mercedes that I have up right now and I had to relist it and that makes me VERY unhappy!! ;D

So, please, only bid if you are serious and of course, as always
CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

Thank you!

Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study

Tue, 28 Oct 2014

Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."

Alan Mulally talks about why Ford's Falcon had to die

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

When Ford made the decision to end production of the Falcon sedan and Territory CUV in Australia, it wasn't a popular move Down Under. The large, four-door Falcon had been in production for 50 years, and while Ford has reaffirmed its commitment to the Australian market, it's understandable that some people still aren't all that crazy about the Blue Oval's decision.
Speaking to CEO Alan Mulally after Ford's Go Further event in Sydney, Australian site Go Auto reports that the decision was not one made lightly, and that the automaker is doing everything possible to respect the Falcon and Territory's "stakeholders." It's an interesting piece that shows a softer side of a corporation, while demonstrating that Ford is doing everything in its power to make the end of production as smooth as possible for all parties.
Head over to Go Auto for the full series of remarks from Mulally, and then let us know what you think of Ford's handling of the Falcon and Territory discontinuations, in Comments.

Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car

Fri, Jan 6 2017

Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.
