Up for auction is my 1968 Ford, F-100 step side, short bed truck. The truck was a one owner truck until 2010 and has only 79K original miles. The truck was purchased off of the showroom floor in San Jose California as the family's second vehicle and it comes with the 2 original keys and "original" dated, owner's manual. The engine is a 360 big block engine with an automatic transmission. The truck is pretty much original with the exception of the west coast mirrors and the dual exhaust. The rear bumper was either a factory or dealer option, but did come new with the truck. The interior has been updated with a new seat cover, arm rest and dash cover, otherwise everything is original with the truck when new.  The brake system has been gone thru completely and the radiator and starter have been replaced.  The tires have plenty of good life left in them. The truck does not squeak or rattle when driving down the road and is a true attention getter in any setting.  Pretty much everything on the truck works except the horn and maybe an interior light? The original AM radio truck, gauges and knobs are all intact and functioning.  The truck looks to have had some paint work done to one of the doors years ago, but can't really tell what damage was done.  Although the truck runs nice, it has been sitting for well over a year and has developed an oil leak. I am pretty sure that it is the front main seal, but since driving the truck today, it has slowed or stopped. I replaced the battery today and the truck started and runs good, except for some minor hesitation when accelerating. I have added some carb cleaner and expect that a little driving will clear everything back to normal. There is some surface rust "only"on the truck, but all easily repairable and only minor stuff. There are several small dents in the truck, but again, nothing major. The door hinges are tight as can be and it runs and drives smooth. The doors all close tight and the windows and seals are all in great shape. The bed is the original wood from the factory, but the 2 outer boards need to be replaced. I am out of garage space and the truck needs to find a new home. This is a nice truck that can be pretty much left "as is" or is a great candidate for a total restoration.

I have a clear Florida title in hand and a $500 PayPal deposit is due within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The deposit is non-refundable, so please ask all of the questions that you have before bidding. The balance is due within 7 days of the auction close. I can assist with getting the truck loaded on a car carrier as you may need. The truck is offered with no warranty and is also for sale locally and therefore I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Thanks for looking!!

Ford dissects the heart of the 2015 Mustang, its engine range

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

Happy Mustang Day. Are you tired of hearing about the 2015 Ford Mustang yet? No? Good, here's a bunch of mechanical data on Ford's sixth-gen muscle car, along with cutaways of the GT's 5.0-liter V8 and the new 2.3-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder shown above. We also have a smattering of info on the Stang's updated transmissions and an exploded-parts-diagram view of its all-new independent rear suspension.
Ford is set to make waves offering the Mustang with a turbo for the firs time since the small-volume SVO of the 1980s. Displacing 2.3 liters, the engine's twin-scroll turbo should help the four-cylinder turn out a projected 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while also returning the best fuel economy in the Mustang's engine lineup. As we said in our Deep Dive, the EcoBoost will be slotted in as a premium engine, above the 3.7-liter V6 but below the 5.0-liter V8.
Speaking of that high-revving eight-cylinder, it's receiving a new cylinder head with high-flow ports. The intake and exhaust valves are larger and the cams have been replaced, among other tweaks. It should rev even higher thanks to a rebalanced crankshaft and forged connecting rods. Ford is still claiming a projected 420 hp and 390 lb-ft, although as many of the changes for the 2015's V8 come from the 2013 Boss 302, we're going to assume there's some sandbagging at work.

How Ford secretly used customers to test its aluminum F-150 [w/video]

Fri, 30 May 2014

Automakers getting clever about disguising development vehicles isn't anything new. Between mules wearing the sheetmetal of other cars and prototypes decked out in as much camouflage as is practical, automakers know how to make it very difficult for the general public to get an exact idea of what kind of vehicle is in development. Ford, though, is rapidly becoming the master.
We knew that the Blue Oval originally tested the durability of the aluminum construction being used for the 2015 F-150 by building an all-aluminum 2014 truck and entering it in the Baja 1000 off-road race. That's no longer a secret. What we didn't know, though, is that the aluminum development dates back to before even that, and that some of the people in question had no idea what it was they were working with.
Ford says this is the first time prototypes have ever been handed over to the public.

Ford Recalls Nearly 435,000 Vehicles

Mon, Apr 7 2014

Ford is recalling nearly 435,000 cars and SUVs to fix rusting frame parts or faulty seats. The biggest of the two recalls covers nearly 386,000 Ford Escapes from the 2001 through 2004 model years. Ford says the subframes can rust, allowing a control arm to separate and hamper steering control. Ford is aware of one crash but no injuries linked to the problem. The SUVs were originally sold or registered in 20 states and Washington, D.C., where salt is used to clear snow and ice from roads. Six Canadian provinces also are included. Dealers will install a reinforcement brace to fix the problem. The Escapes covered by the recall were built from Oct. 22, 1999 through Dec. 19, 2003 at the Kansas City Assembly plant, and from May 1, 2003 through Jan. 23, 2004 at the Ohio Assembly plant, Ford said in a statement issued Monday. They were originally sold or registered in Connecticut, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, Delaware, Maine, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, Indiana, Michigan, New York, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Also covered are Escapes sold or registered in Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador. The second recall covers 49,000 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and C-MAX vehicles from 2013 and 2014. Dealers will replace seat back frames that weren't welded properly. No crashes or injuries have been reported from the problem, Ford said. Recalls Ford
