Scroll down for 50 pics Here is my 1968 Ford F-100 Stepside short bed truck w/ 240 CI 6 cylinder and 3 speed manual on the tree w/ manual drum brakes and manual steering. I rescued this truck off of a Texas farm in 2012 where it had sat since the late 90's. This truck was originally purchased From Iraan Motor Co. in 1968 by the Shell Pipeline company as a fleet vehicle to be used on the oil fields of Texas. When I bought the truck it had not run in over 10 years but was a solid Texas truck with some real history. I have the original owners manual with all the info written on the inside cover page by the dealership.
This truck is a numbers matching with the original drivetrain. When I bought it the wood bed had already rotted away and most of the glass broken, fuel tank rusted, clutch worn out, carb gone bad, bench seat was torn up from the texas critters, dash pad warped and cracked and so on...... Having said all that I was still impressed with the original sheet metal and history of the truck and just had to save it from the scrap yard.
I have spent over 3K in parts and around 120 hours labor getting her back to driving shape over the past 2 years. Here is a list of the most important things I have replaced during my ownership and have all receipts.
New fuel tank New Firewall insulation pad Rebuilt Carb New Fuel Pump New Battery and cables New Starter New Alternator New Flywheel ring gear New Clutch New rear Glass New Side Glass New Heater Hoses New Heater Valve New front brake drums and pads New rear shocks New Oak wood Bed New Bed Strips New Tail Lights Driver Side Floor Pan Master Cylinder New Tires Bench Seat Cover
Now being my shop truck I have since added a Red fotina paint job over the original Pebble Beige leaving the roof original as I wanted to give it a two tone more head turning look. The original finish was just to drab and tired for me. I have some experience in this type of work and it turned out quite nice. I used a satin clear over the entire truck. The paint I used is Duplicolor Performance Red and Satin clear so it is cheap and readily available. Depending on the direction you go you can continue on with the patina finish or completely strip and start over. The paint is very thin and could be easily sanded back. This truck has ZERO body filler and no sign of any type of accident or frame damage.
The truck still needs a new windshield. The driver floor pan had a few small rust holes so I welded in a correct Ford replacement pan. There is some other minor rust on the lower cab edges and inner rear Fenders. I removed the box/bed and painted the frame rails and diff. Eastwood Chassis Black. The frame rails and cab mounts are rust free and in great shape. The wood bed kit was given a couple coats of stain but could use more as it is already wearing off in spots. I used this truck as my daily work truck in 2012 and part of 2013. The truck runs and stops, shifts well through all 3 gears. The non power drum break system is grabby and needs some muscle to stop hard. Needs front shocks. Heat works, wipers work, lights work. Choke is missing cable so it is hard starting when cold but warms up in a minute or two and purrs like a kitten.
The truck still needs lots of little things but is so cool just the way it sits. Perfect for Resto-Rod or drive as is.
I have provided dozens of pictures documenting the condition and partial restoration I have done over the past 2 1/2 years. Please check out all the pics before you ask questions.

Here's a math problem: if Tanner Foust has a 24 hours to kill in Germany and one blue Ford Raptor, how long will it take him to decide he wants to lap The Nürburgring? Extra credit if you can get your answer precise to the millisecond.
A very truck-like and slidey lap of the 'Ring is exactly what happened when the Ford-sponsored rallycross driver took time off from set-up duties for his 'day job.' Thankfully no one even thought to worry about posting a time, but you can watch some Raptor skid marks getting laid down between the kerbs in the video below.

With more law enforcement agencies across the United States alone than we'd care to count (or ever encounter), selling police cars means big business for American automakers, with Ford, Chevy and Dodge competing to fill the motorpools of every police department, sheriff's office and government agency in the land. For its part, Ford offers the Taurus-based Police Interceptor sedan and the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility, and it's preparing to unveil a revised version of the latter at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show in the same city where it's built. Dearborn hasn't given us much to go on with this teaser, showing just a darkened front shot of the vehicle in question with its emergency lighting all aglow. But it's fairly clear that the Interceptor Utility has been given many of the same updates applied recently to the Explorer on which it's based. That starts with the revised sheet metal, but considering that the Interceptor Utility exclusively packs V6 power, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four that was one of the biggest updates to the civilian Explorer isn't likely to carry over. Ford does, however, promise that the revised Police Interceptor Utility will be "even better" than the model it replaces" and pack "more high-tech features." Related Video:

Ford is on a roll this year, with excellent quarterly earnings and better-than-expected vehicle sales leading to 800 more job opportunities with the Blue Oval. In January, Ford announced that it wanted to hire 2,200 salaried employees, but, since then, that figure has been revised to 3,000, representing a 36-percent increase over original projections. About 1,500 of those jobs remain, 80 percent of which are technical professional positions.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs," says Felicia Fields, Ford Group Vice President for Human Resources. Helping to spur this job growth are increasing market share on both the West and East Coast and robust demand for the Ford Escape and F-150.
To find job candidates, Ford is reaching out to them via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, in addition to the company's corporate career site. The Blue Oval is also ramping up its presence on college campuses.
