1966 Ford F100 Custom Cab

For sale is a Ford F-100 short bed truck. It is a Custom-Cab truck and has the original 352 V-8 in it. So it is a numbers matching truck. The interior has a rubber mat and a new upholstered seat. It's clean and does not smell like gasoline. The truck starts without any problems. It drives straight down the road and is a great daily driver. All the lights and blinkers work on the truck. The speedometer works too. Although I think the fuel gauge could use a new sending unit in the tank. It has had the cab corners professionally repaired where there was a little rust. The truck is very solid and would make a perfect truck to just cruise daily or restore. The short bed trucks are very difficult to find in this good of shape. The paint is a little faded and has started to get that sought after patina that the AZ sun is a master at. The engine compartment has been kept clean and the motor has been detailed. It has just had a fresh oil change and a new alternator and master cylinder. The bumpers are new as well. It could use a few little things here and there, but it is solid mechanically. The Twin I-Beam was something new in 1965 for the Ford trucks. This truck handles very good on the road and is comfortable to drive.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. Cadillac ELR, Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas win Eyes on Design awards

This year's annual Eyes on Design awards were presented at the end of press days for the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. Given out for the best production and concept car designs that debuted at the show, and voted on by an esteemed panel of actual car designers, this year's award for best production vehicle design went to the 2014 Cadillac ELR. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, which was the show favorite among Autoblog editors, apparently did not impress the Eyes on Design judges enough with its all-new vent-festooned design.
The award for best concept design was actually split as a tie among the Nissan Resonance and Ford Atlas concepts. Last year's winners were the 2013 Ford Fusion and the Lexus LF-LC concept.
The Eyes on Design organization also presented a new honor this year called the Catalyst Award to Bob Lutz, former Vice Chairman of General Motors. Lutz is reported to have given a defense of design in his acceptance speech, arguing that advancements in quality across the industry as a whole have made good design a key differentiator for buyers.
