This has been my toy for a couple years now. This was a farm truck and still wears its patina. Volare front suspension (actually from a Diplomat Cop car) I boxed the frame in front and "C" notched and boxed frame in the rear with a flipped axle. You can actually use this as a truck with the LONG BED! I wouldn't recommend hauling dirt, but I have hauled parts in it and just carried home a complete kitchen from Home Depot. The engine is a 390 from a 1972 camper special, Trans is the C6 with a shift kit from the same truck. It has 3:50 gears and the speedo registers correctly (although the odometer quit). Re-wired with a modern blade fuse block kit and Ignition switch from the '72 truck. Turn signals work with the GM column I used, new tail lights, and all gauges work. Power brakes are front disc and rear drum. I have been all over this truck and the only rust is on the bed sides cab floor and steps are clean. I will include a passenger side door for the parts and the skin will work great if you want to repair the rust.

Wrap up some fun with Ford's commercial vehicle configurator
Tue, 27 Aug 2013Ford has combined multiple steps into one with its commercial vehicle configurator, which allows users to choose, design and place orders for the Transit, Transit Connect, E-Series vans and F-Series Super Duty trucks.
The most interesting part of the new configurator is a fairly robust design tool. Users are able to choose paint color and wrap the vehicle, and then create their own graphics. No materials are needed - Ford provides numerous background textures, text boxes, plenty of shapes and 20 categories of images including floral, construction, plumbing and skylines. Self-created designs or images can be uploaded to the system as well.

A 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder takes over where the old 2.0 left off, making 270 hp and 300 lb-ft.
Right now, around 23 percent of all Ford vehicles sold in the United States is a utility vehicle. By 2020, Ford expects that figure to increase all the way to 29 percent. Put simply, SUVs and crossovers are very big business at Ford. So, when it comes time to update the Explorer, Ford's original sport utility vehicle, you can be sure that a whole heck of a lot of effort goes into the process.
