I am re-listing my 1961 Ford F-100 half ton pickup truck with a lowered reserve.  This truck was originally owned by the u.s. air force, from dry western states (Idaho)

This is a very straight example of an early 60's Ford truck.  This truck has very little rust and the two areas of concern.  The two areas are below the small steps, on the leading edge of the rear fenders.  These areas are not visible from the top of the step, only from below.  This should be a very easy fix.

The interior front cab corners have patches that look like professional repairs.  The cab corners are very solid as are the bottom of the doors and fenders. The other areas of needed body work are the drivers door and the driver side front fender at the leading edge.  The photographs show these areas.  The remainder of the truck is extremely straight and rust free, including the frame.  There are no frame repairs, and the truck tracks straight.  The excellent patina is great if you want to drive the truck like it is.  All of the military Air Force decals are in place on the outside and on the dashboard.  The truck starts very easily and runs well, no vibrations or stalling.  Directional signals and brake lights work, but the cancel switch for the directional signals should be replaced.  The tops of the bed rails are super straight and in great condition, this is also true with original tailgate, all tailgate hardware is original.  The military radio does not work and is for display purposes only.  The engine is a 223 cubic inch type with a 3-speed column shift (three on the tree.)

I have completed the following work: new headliner, new sun visors, new high energy battery, new battery cables, painted battery tray, new driver side arm rest, new Coker truck tires, sand blasted Ford wheels painted blue to match the body color, excellent newly painted correct Ford hubcaps, new lug nuts on all four wheels, new reproduction rubber floor mat, new reproduction chrome outside mirror.  I have a set of nice oak bed rails that will go with this truck.

This truck runs excellent and stops well.  You can drive it right now.  Note:  The steering is somewhat hard at this point and should be corrected to drive comfortably.  The steering is the manual type, brakes work very well but are not power brakes.  The windshield has a small crack on the drivers side but it is not in the field of view.  In addition, there are a few rock chips in the glass, but nothing serious.  The engine runs cool and the instruments work with the exception of the odometer.  It broke a couple of months ago so the mileage is slightly higher than 48,303.  Mileage appears to be original, and mostly military miles.

This truck could be restored, customized, make a shop truck, or rat rod it.  Very straight, very little rust, laser straight frame, would make an easy restoration.

Please contact me with any questions you may have regarding this truck.  My name is Arnie, and I can be reached at (949) 573-1139.  Or, you can email me through eBay messaging.  I will promptly answer your emails.

NOTE:  You may contact me with any reasonable offers on this truck, please no low ball offers.

The truck is currently licensed and insured in CA, and has no back DMV fees due.

A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction close.  You may contact me to make final payment arrangements after the close of the auction.

Please note that I am only accepting US bidders at this time, I am not set up to sell outside of the US.  There are no warranties expressed or implied on this vehicle.  The truck is being sold in "as is"; "where is" condition.

Transportation of this truck to the winning bidders location is the responsibility of the auction winner.  I can assist with the loading of the truck.

Thank you for looking at my auction and good luck.

Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

US Ford Focus RS to be imported from Europe

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Rumors about the forthcoming Ford Focus RS are flourishing into what sounds like a very impressive new hot hatch. The latest scuttlebutt gives the first indication about when we might see a few of these fast Focuses on roads here in the US.
Unnamed insiders reportedly confirmed to The Truth About Cars that Ford plans to launch the Focus RS in the US in 2016. However, getting one might not be so easy - the boosted powertrain means the car would likely need to be imported from Europe. That's likely going to keep the total number available in the US rather low. The sources estimate a price tag that's a bit more expensive than the top Focus ST3, which starts around $28,500, plus $825 destination.
It seems that a pretty potent package comes for all of that cash, though. The Focus RS reportedly uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making between 325 and 350 horsepower, with a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system to get that muscle to the road. The test mules also wear more aggressive front and rear fascias, dual exhaust tips, larger brakes and sticky tires. It sounds like a great formula on top of the already enjoyable Focus ST.
