1956 F100 Pickup Street Rod Hot Rod On 2000 Lightning Chassis on 2040-cars
Belleville, Michigan, United States
I'm considering selling my 1956 F100 project project. I'll try to capture all the info here I can think of, but will probably be missing some of it. To start, it's a 1956 F100 on a 2000 Lightning chassis and drivetrain. I drove the Lightning from Mass to MI and stripped it down. The Lightning has a reman Ford engine and there is a tag on the engine verifying that. Engine and trans have about 10K miles on them and run great. Engine has a 6lb pulley, aftermarket throttle body and idler pulleys. With a good tune, it should put out around 400 hp and 500 lbs/tq at the rear wheels. The Lightning chassis is complete, so you get all the benefit of the Lightning chassis, handling, ride quality, comfort and ABS. The 56 is all metal and any patch work has been done in all metal. The only bondo is for smoothing and blending. All metal has been dipped or sandblasted, coated with epoxy primer and then high build primer, so it's sealed well. Custom floorboards and firewall. All the computer and wiring harness is here, along with a SCT tuner to bypass emissions and PATS if needed. I have several other fenders and extra parts that can go with it, like aftermarket steering column, Lightning A/C, radiator, 56 grill, hardwood for the bed and I'm sure there is more. The body is loosely bolted down and together. A lot of the hardwork has been done, but there is still a lot of work to be done. This is a great project for someone that is interested in having a one of a kind 56 that rides and drives great and can go anywhere. The stance in the pics is basically the ride height. If you need more detail, message me with your phone number and I will call you back. I reserve the right to end the auction early. |

Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla details factory expansion; Ford and SunPower raise money for Sierra Club
Thu, Nov 20 2014Tesla has revealed the details of the upgrade of its Fremont, CA factory. One major change is the addition of a dedicated production space for the dual-motor P85D version of the Model S. Robots will be doing the battery installation on the Model S to save some time, and new export docks allow Tesla to get the cars out the door and on the way to their new owners more quickly. The new robots that move the cars around the factory have been named after X-Men characters, which makes our inner geeks smile. Check out the factory upgrade in the time-lapse video below and read more at Teslarati or at the Tesla Motors Blog. A program in Beijing for privileged registrations for EVs hasn't had much success. Of the 1,424 lottery winners, only about 30 percent went on to register an electric car despite a two-month extension of the deadline to do so. Buyers are likely discouraged by the lack of charging infrastructure, which the city hopes to ameliorate with the addition of 1,000 new charging stations by the end of the year, and by requiring new and renovated developments to set aside parking specifically for EV charging. Read more at Green Car Reports. The UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies suggests that laws designed to protect dealers and consumers are stymieing the adoption of EVs. Laws like the ones certain states have in place that block or otherwise restrict Tesla's direct-to-consumer business model are not helpful for companies that want to introduce new products to the market. They prevent companies from passing on savings to customers for whom they would likely make the difference in a purchasing decision. One possible solution would be to allow exemptions to certain selling restrictions for a certain number of vehicles sold. "This could give automakers the degree of control needed to work out kinks with early customers, develop scalable processes for supporting PEVs, and ensure that effective dealer performance standards are in place before handing the reins over to wholly independent retailers," according to UC Davis ITS. Read more at the UC Davis website. Volkswagen says its environmental program, called "Think Blue. Factory," is meeting the automaker's own sustainability targets. The main purpose of the program is to move toward eco-friendlier carmaking at each of its plants worldwide.
Man turns Ford Fiesta into a one-car band
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The one-man band is a rather ridiculous idea, drawing up images of one person attempting to manipulate several instruments, at once, in a vain attempt at creating music. It's usually represented by silly scenes like this. Interestingly, the concept isn't much more successful when the "man" in "one-man band" is replaced with "car," as we see in this video.
It seems that someone rigged up and edited (699 times, we might add) a Ford Fiesta, a bucket, 12 PVC pipes and the natural sounds that a car makes to come up with a song. Now, we don't recognize the tune, so we've no idea if this is a cover or an original piece. And while it's hardly Beethoven, we have to admire the amount of effort the "conductor" went to in his attempt to turn a subcompact car into a musical instrument(s). Take a look (or listen) below for the entire video.
Tanner Foust tackles 'Ring in SVT Raptor
Sat, 16 Mar 2013Here's a math problem: if Tanner Foust has a 24 hours to kill in Germany and one blue Ford Raptor, how long will it take him to decide he wants to lap The Nürburgring? Extra credit if you can get your answer precise to the millisecond.
A very truck-like and slidey lap of the 'Ring is exactly what happened when the Ford-sponsored rallycross driver took time off from set-up duties for his 'day job.' Thankfully no one even thought to worry about posting a time, but you can watch some Raptor skid marks getting laid down between the kerbs in the video below.
