You WILL NOT be disappointed in this BEAUTIFUL 1953 EFFIE. She is as pretty and laser-straight one-foot away as she looks in these pictures. I loved this truck as soon as I saw and drove it. If this '53 sounds like a truck you might be interested in, please read on.

This beautiful '53 F100 shows 612 miles since a complete frame-off restoration. Every single part in this truck was new, rebuilt, or completely stripped and refinished 612 miles ago. Unfortunately, the gentleman down in Tennessee that built this truck passed away before he completely finished it. I bought the truck from his son, in California, and finished the necessary items.

The body was stripped, restored, and painted in a three-stage Ford Mustang (1998-2002) Laser Red Metallic, code E-9. It is laser-straight, with no dings, dents, ripples or waves whatsoever.  The underside is black. The chassis was completely stripped and painted black. All chrome and/or polished stainless trim pieces are in great condition.

The soft leather interior is finished in a beautiful warm tan, with gray carpeting. The interior features AutoMeter Street Rod Series gauge system which includes a tachometer and clock. Air temperature is provided via a new Vintage Air AC/heat system. There is no stereo or music system. I like the listening to the soft roar of the engine & exhaust.

The engine is a rebuilt (1979) Ford 351" Windsor V-8.The motor is stock except for an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Edelbrock 1406 4-barrel carburetor, a Mallory breakerless distributor, chrome Ford Motorsports valve covers, and a chrome alternator. The engine is cooled by a new aluminum radiator and electric fan with adjustable fan temperature control. It also has a polished aluminum overflow tank.

The 2 1/2" aluminized exhaust system starts with ceramic coated headers, runs through 21" Flowmaster mufflers to tailpipes neatly tuck up under the rear fenders.

The power is hooked up via a smooth-shifting C-6 transmission, a Lokar shifter and 9" Ford rearend. The rearend rides on new Posies lowering springs, new shocks, and new Mid-Fifties rear spring hangers.

Up front, a Heidt's Mustang II suspension package, with tubular A-Arms, power Rack & Pinion steering, and power disc brakes was professionally installed. Stopping power is provided by a No Limit power brake system (discs in front and drums in the rear)system. A chrome Ididit tilt steering column topped off by a Lecarra steering wheel control steering function.

Polished 15" American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels (15" X 6" Fronts, and 15" X 7" rears) are wrapped in Hankook Mileage Plus tires, P215/70R15 Fronts, and P235/70R15 Rears.

What does it need? (1) I would replace the carpet in the cab. (2) I haven't driven the truck with the AC on in several months. When I drove it this AM, I noticed that the AC wasn't cold. Upon inspection, I found an oily liquid below the AC hoses, which wasn't engine oil, P/S fluid, or coolant. Since the system is as-new, I'm thinking that one of the AC hoses is leaking bit. That's It! It drives and handles wonderfully.

This fabulous '53 F100 is sold As-Is, Where-Is, with No warranty, expressed or implied. The buyer will be responsible for transporting the vehicle after sale is completed. Of course, I will assist in loading the vehicle for transport, if help is requested. This truck is for sale locally, and reasonable offers will be considered, so I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: If you're not absolutely serious about purchasing a vehicle of this caliber, PLEASE DO NOT PLACE A BID. If you do not have the funds in readily available to follow through with this purchase, PLEASE DO NOT hit the "Bid Now" button. I invite any potential bidder to come take a good look at this car and take a test drive before placing a bid. This car is located in Prescott, Arizona, about 1/2 way between Phoenix and Flagstaff (2 hours to each by car).

I will not accept any personal checks, cashier's checks, or money orders. A deposit of $500.00, via PayPal or cash will be due within 48 hours of purchase or close of auction. The full purchase price will be due within seven (7) days of purchase or close of auction. A Bank Wire deposit of funds is the preferred method of payment. If you bring that much cash, we will go to a local bank to very it's authenticity. Most of the large banks (B of A, BMO Harris, Chase, U.S. Bank, Washington Federal, and Wells Fargo) have local branches, as well as a number of other smaller and State Banks. If you bank at one of the banks represented locally, we can both go to that bank and arrange a Bank Wire deposit. If you happen to bank at Wells Fargo, we can go to a Wells Branch very close to our home, and the funds can be immediately withdrawn from your account, and deposited in our account. Again, Thank You. Unfortunately we don't know who we can trust anymore, and simply cannot be too cautious.

New Ford dedicated hybrid due in 2018, will it fare better than C-Max?

Fri, Aug 22 2014

Everyone likes to go after the champ. When it comes to fuel economy, that means taking on the Prius, which is something that automakers not named Toyota have been trying to do for years. Just because no one has been able to beat the Prius for fuel economy numbers isn't stopping them from trying. Hyundai was just caught with a potential Prius-fighter and now we have news that Ford is joining the party. Well, is going to join again. The last time Ford said it was going to challenge the Prius, it didn't go quite as planned. The C-Max hybrid was heavily hyped as a Prius-beater and was originally rated at 47 miles per gallon. Of course, it later needed to be recalculated to just 40 mpg and sales tanked. So, it's back to the Blue Oval drawing board, according to Automotive News, which is reporting that Ford is readying a brand new gas-electric hybrid due in 2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle. A plug-in version is in the works, too, and the car will reportedly share a platform with the upcoming next-gen Focus and Escape models. About those C-Max sales. They have not been stellar for the C-Max hybrid, which started strong but suffered when the reality of the lower fuel economy was realized. So far in 2014 (through the end of July), Ford has sold 11,685 gas-electric models and another 4,759 plug-in Energi versions. The trend for the standard C-Max is downward (from 20,125 during the same time frame in 2013) and upward for the plug-in version (2,915 in the first seven months of 2013).

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019

Tue, Dec 24 2019

It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references.  Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.

2017-19 Ford Super Duty trucks recalled for tailgates that could open

Fri, Dec 6 2019

Ford announced two separate recalls today, though neither has resulted in any known injuries. The first recall, which deals with a tailgate malfunction, affects 261,617 examples of 2017-2019 F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty pickups. The second, which anticipates the possibility of a fuel leak, affects 3,893 units of 2020 Explorer and 2020 Lincoln Aviator SUVs with 3.0-liter engines. Ford says tailgates might accidentally open on some 2017-2019 Super Duty trucks because of a short circuit. If the pickups have an electric tailgate latch-release switch on the tailgate handle, water might get into the wiring. If the water hits the right spots, a short circuit could cause the switch to release the tailgate latch. In a worst-case scenario where the tailgate opens while driving, contents of the truck's bed could fall out and create a safety hazard. Dealerships will fix the problem by modifying the tailgate frame wiring harnesses with jumper pigtails and install a new tailgate handle release switch. Of the lot, 231,664 trucks are in the U.S., and 29,953 are in Canada. The Ford recall number is 19S48.  The second recall is much smaller, involving fewer than 4,000 vehicles. In certain 2020 Explorers and Aviators with 3.0-liter engines, Ford says, "The convolute protective sleeve on the liquid fuel line is not long enough, which may allow for potential hard contact with the convolute-protected vapor fuel line. Over time, with vibration and engine roll, hard contact between the two fuel lines could cause the convolute on the vapor fuel line to rub through the plastic liquid fuel line." If that happens, it could be a fire risk and hazardous for drivers and passengers. Only 35 of those SUVs are in Canada, and the rest are in the United States. Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the defective convolute with a full-length piece and tying it down with a strap. The recall reference number for the Aviators and Explorers is 19S49. The recall adds to what has otherwise been a rocky early production phase for the new Explorers and Aviators.
