I bought this truck in 2003 from the original owner. It was sold by wilson ford sales in fairmont west virginia in 1953 and I still have the original key fob the truck came with when it was sold new. This truck has the original engine and automatic transmission it left the factory with. I decided to leave the paint original and do a mechanical restoration since I rarely see these the way they left the factory in 1953 and I love the way it looks. Here is a list of the new items I have purchased and have had done since I purchased the truck. Original 8RT engine rebuilt by H and H ($5400.00), original automatic transmission rebuilt ($605.00), complete bumper to bumper wiring harness, front end rebuilt and aligned and steering box rebuilt ($1000.00), radiator rebuilt and recored with 4 row core and transmission cooler reconditioned ($535.00), 5 tires, new floor mat, headlight switch, 4 shocks, 6 volt battery, complete new brake system and 4 drums turned, new front bumper, 4 new hubcaps, hoses and belts, new engine and trans mounts, new running boards ($500.00), starter, generator and carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, water pumps rebuilt, speedometer reconditioned, new front wheel bearings and seals, seat reupholstered, new arm rests but I can't find the pad for the driver side. I know I have it somewhere. New voltage regulator, new grill teeth and hood boomerangs, new dome light, sun visors and brackets, door mirrors and rear view mirror, New headliner but not installed yet because I suck at interior anything and I'm afraid of damaging it. Gas tank cleaned and lined and new sending unit. new battery tray and hold down, complete new exhaust system, new headlight rings, tail lights, new door panels, kick panels and rear of seat panel. As for rust, there is a little bit in the front rockers and the front bottoms of the rear fenders and on of the bottom front lip of the bed. The truck overall is very solid with excellent cab floor. The rust you see on the top of the hood and cab is surface only and can be sanded and painted. The bed has a metal plate that slides out if you want to remove it and put the original bed wood and strips. I have all the crossmembers. Nothing has ever been modified on this truck and would be a great restoration candidate or drive as is. I have all the reciepts for parts and services I have purchased since I bought it in 2003. This has been my regular driver for years now and has never had any issues or breakdowns. I have put 6000 miles on the new engine and it has never missed a beat once. The truck also comes with NOS fender skirts, original radios, owners manual, factory manual, parts book, dealers truck handbook, sales brochure, paint chips pages and 2 boxes of extra parts I got my mits on during the time I have owned this. I also have all the original turn signal parts if you want to install turn signals in the truck. I have posted a lot of pictures so you can get a good idea of the trucks condition and everything that comes with it. I have $19800.00 in this truck as you see it but my reserve is thousands below that. Please don't ask the reserve, just bid what you think is fair. I'm not in love with the idea of selling the truck but I have a 1949 mercury and a 1959 cadillac both in dire need of engine rebuilds and we all know what kind of money that is going to require plus I have 1968 ford truck so at least I will still have a truck to use if this 1953 does sell. If you have any further questions or want to speak further you can call me at (626) 284-4013. If you want to come and see the truck in person, give me a call and we can set an appointment. Please keep calls between 6 and 9 pm monday through friday and anytime on the weekend (within reason of course). I accept cash in person, wire transfer or cashiers check for payment. Sorry, no paypal on this. Payment must clear before the truck is allowed to be picked up. Thanks for understanding. My name is Bill and thanks for any and all interest in my auction.

Ford Mustang SVT caught looking fierce on the 'Ring

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

The next-generation Ford Mustang SVT is one of the most anticipated performance cars of the moment. We've already seen it testing multiple times, but it has always been covered is some very heavy camouflage. However, Ford has just given us our best view yet of the new muscle car. According to our spy photographer, the Mustang was at the Nürburgring for high-speed testing, which meant that the Blue Oval had to remove most of the heavy obfuscation that the SVT has worn previously.
The stylish, more revealing camo makes picking out some of the more interesting details about the SVT rather easy. Starting from the front, there is the big hood scoop to feed cold air to its still mysterious engine. You can also immediately make out the model's new grille and lower front air dam. It has a vertical piece running from the bottom of the hood all the way to the ground. The aggressive styling almost gives the 'Stang the look of two fangs ready to bite down. The hood seam is even taped off here, which shows us its outline.
Around the side, it appears that the front and rear fenders are wider than stock, and the sills are certainly much larger. You can also just make out the SVT's bigger brakes behind its black wheels with a polished lip. Finally, at the rear, things appear mostly stock other than the diffuser that the exhaust outlets nestle into.

Shelby Cobra, Mercedes 300SL and 1947 Woodie from Petersen Museum headed to auction

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

The changes happening at the Petersen Museum have been making the rounds in major press, but it probably won't be until August 18, during Pebble Beach, when we get the full story on what's happening; that's where and when museum reps plan on announcing the way forward for the SoCal institution. In the meantime, the museum is still reorganizing its collection, and that means auctioning some of its showpieces at this weekend's Auctions America event in Burbank.
Three of the stars are a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, one of less than 20 produced with a three-speed C-4 automatic transmission, a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL owned by actor Robert Stack and the last 1948 Ford Sportsman 'Woodie' ever produced. The Cobra, now restored to its original white exterior and red leather interior, was a factory demonstrator that first sold for $5,250. Showing just 38,950 miles on the odometer, its pre-sale estimate is $800,000 to $1 million.
The 300SL is actually a 1957 model but wasn't titled until Robert Stack took possession in 1960. The lead actor in the The Untouchables TV series used to drive by the Sunset Boulevard Mercedes dealership to ogle the car, but couldn't justify spending the money to buy it. When he and the producer of The Untouchables won Emmys for the show, the producer, who happened to be Desi Arnaz, bought the car for Stack. He owned it his whole life, it has been left as Stack drove it and still bears the California license plate "UNTCHBL."

Ford blimp crashes inside Portland Trail Blazers arena

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Portland basketball fans got a free, very safe recreation of the Hindenburg disaster when a Ford airship crashed into the stands during a game between the Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers. Reportedly no one was hurt, but arena staff trying to push the inflatable vehicle through a hole it was too big for, made for some fantastic video and photos. This content is hosted by a third party. The first gives an idea of just how hard it was to fit the blimp through the exit of the arena, and the second is a time-lapse look from someone right next to the action. All these clips need is Yakety Sax as background music for some true Internet gold. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
