2004 Ford Explorer we have had since late 2004 other than the hood. Over all vehicle has been very reliable 152000. Power Locks, mirrors, windows, auto trans, 4 wheel drive/ works very well. New tires last year. Wife wants a new vehicle. We are the second owner and we bought it from blue knob. New fuel pressure switch and throttle body cleaning and front hub assembly upper ball joints on both sides have been replaced. Also innter tie rod end passenger side replace. I will pay for a Maryalnd inspection. I honestly cannot think of why it would not pass the dreaded Maryland Inpsection. This vehicle has alot of highway miles, we took in to canada, ocean city, myrtle beach and have never had a problem other than regular stuff, brakes, tires , lights and that sort of thing. Ford of Europe celebrates Mondeo's 20th anniversary

Ford's European operations are celebrating a milestone of sorts as the Mondeo, the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter D-segment sedan in the old country, celebrates its 20th anniversary. The mid-sizer, which was sold in the US for a short time as the Contour, has been a far more popular vehicle in Europe - even receiving regular praise from one Jeremy Clarkson.
Narrated by Cockney actor Ray Winstone, the video goes through the Mondeo's years and how it's evolved from 1993 to the as-yet-unreleased fifth-generation model, which is essentially the same as the Ford Fusion that's sold in America. Take a look below for the full video from Ford of Europe.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
