2000 Ford Explorer XLT.  This has the 4.0L  210 Horspower SOHC engine.  It has 141,101 miles.

Vin # 1FMZU73E7YZB242023

I had the transmission serviced on 8/23/07.  It had 82548 miles.

Since I purchased the vehicle I have changed oil every 5000 miles with a premium filter and full Synthetic oil.

Radiator and upper and lower hoses replaced, May 2013

Replace Front brake calipers, rotors and pads,  June 2013

Replace rear calipers, rotors, pads, rear axle bearings and seals and serviced the rear differential,  June 2013

Battery and Alternator replaced, July 2013

All new tires,  December 2013

When it came time to sell this I did the following to insure a safe and working vehicle.

Right side Upper and Lower ball joints.

Left side Lower ball joint.

Thermostat housing with new thermostat.  I also did the temp sensor for the gauge.  The gauge doesn't respond as fast as it should and stays in the lower area of temp.  It has always done this.  Probably the gauge is tired.  Not a problem.

New spark plugs and wires.  Serpentine belt.  Drivers door lock actuator. [ it was blowing the fuse]

All new shocks, air cleaner and the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets replaced

I also had the arm rest recovered.

Things Not Working:

Probably will need a rear wiper arm.  Doesn't make good contact with the window.

Left side passenger seat belt torn.

Passenger seat will not travel the last 2 inches back.  It needs a seat track/guide.  I put a stop in the track to prevent it from going all the way back. [ I am in the process of finding and replacing that track]

RH side outside mirror cracked.  It has always been this way.

Ford looks to space robots to improve car-to-car communications [w/video]

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Ford has partnered with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for three years to research various kinds of connected vehicle communications. The university tie-up is part of its study of space robots, NASA systems created to enable space-to-Earth communication, and the university's own development of systems that enable communication between the International Space State and Earth.
The objective is for Ford to engineer layers of robust networks and redundancy systems that will allow your car to speak to other cars, to emergency vehicles, to infrastructure like traffic lights and buildings, and to the cloud. Benefits would come in just about every area of transit, from avoiding accidents, to getting medical workers to an accident more quickly, to improving the flow of traffic during rush hour.
Check out the press release below for details on what Ford wants to learn from the JUSTIN Humanoid and NASA Robonaut R2, and a video of technical leader Oleg Gusikhin discussing his interest in the project.

Former Ford president, Jaguar chairman Nick Scheele dead at 70

Sun, 20 Jul 2014

We have the privilege here at Autoblog of reporting a lot of good news, but it is our duty as well to report the bad news and sad news as well. And this is one of those occasions as the automotive industry mourns the passing of one of its leaders.
Nick Scheele was born in the UK in 1944 and joined the Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Durham in 1966, staying within the Blue Oval's portfolio for the entirety of his career. After moving to North America in 1978, he rose through the ranks to become president of Ford's Mexican operations in 1988. After acquiring Jaguar, Ford appointed Scheele as its chairman.
Scheele subsequently acted as chairman of all of Ford's European operations, making difficult decisions to take the division out of the red and into the black. He briefly headed up Ford's North American division before he was appointed in 2001 as president and chief operating officer of the global automaker, working under CEO Bill Ford following the departure of Jacques Nasser departure and retaining the role until his retirement in 2005.

Ken Block's 1965 Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR and CR Supercars Villain are retro done right

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Gymkhana king Ken Block has had a pretty simple car history in his trademark videos, starting out with Subaru Impreza rally cars before moving into Ford Focus racers for the past four installments. His next video, though, Gymkhana Seven, kind of goes back in time.
Rather than the cutting-edge rally racers of past videos, Block will pilot a heavily modified 1965 Ford Mustang, called the Hoonicorn. How heavily modified is it? Well, Block's Hooligan Racing Division, ASD Motorsports and Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s RTR, spent two years working on it, ditching the standard engine and rear-wheel-drive layout and replacing it with a 410-cubic-inch Roush Yates V8. Yes, that's a NASCAR engine, and it produces 845 horsepower.
A NASCAR-powered Mustang would be news in itself, but it's the other powertrain changes made by Block and Co. that really makes headlines. Power is channeled through a one-off Sadev transmission and all-wheel-drive system, meaning that Block has basically married a NASCAR stock car with a WRC racer. ASD also developed the customized suspension, tubular chassis and roll cage. The wide Mustang body is the work of RTR and Block's own Hoonigan Racing Division, while the 18-inch fifteen52 wheels are shod in Pirelli Trofeo R tires that use a specialized compound exclusive to Block.
