You are looking at a fully loaded ex Police K-9 4x4 Explorer ready to roll. The truck is in great shape and we have all the service records since new, that you will get with it. It was used by the Olathe, Kansas PD until they retired it, and couple years ago and we bought it, for our German Shepard dog. It would be great for another law department or private security company. It is also cool just to cruise around in it with your pet, like we did.

It drives and rides great. It has the 4.0 V6 SOHC engine, with about 70,900 miles, 4 speed auto transmission with overdrive, AM/FM, A/C, cruise, tilt, remote mirrors, power windows and door locks and a power driver's seat. Lots of life left in her and we would drive it anywhere.  No leaks, and no funny noises and the 4x4 works perfect. The paint still looks good- it does had a few dog scratches on it, and it makes heads turn going down the road. This truck has been stored inside our garage since we have owned it-see photo. The gray interior has a small hole on driver's seat, about the size of a quarter- see photo.

Police equipment:
Federal signal interceptor light bar-color lens have been removed, front strobes, rear break strobes, grill strobes, console with ticket pad and light bar control, ISM-SW ignition override, and the K9 aluminium cage made by American Alummun Accessories, Inc Perry, FL, with the K9 lifeguard.   Also it has a eyewitenss camera with display screen, plus scanner- all functional.   It has a new receiver hitch and wiring for trailer lights, new tires, battery and front breaks,  also.  The NADA book price for the truck is about $5000.00 which does not include the equipment, and you know that is expensive.  Good Luck.

We are gong to start the price low, with a low reserver and a buy it now price. Call us and bring your dog for a trial ride if you like.   Pleasenote mileage may vary from listing a couple of hundred miles due toroad tests, as it is for sale locally also.

It isthe responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected thevehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the conditionand value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The sellerhas disclosed any knowndefects associated with this vehicle and assumes no responsibility for anyrepair, after the purchase.

 Thanks karen and kenny 505-294-6000.

NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"

Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
