1994 Ford Explorer Limited Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Yonkers, New York, United States
Moving back to California soon and selling the vehicle that I purchased when I first got out here. Vehicle has done me some good and has been very reliable. I listed some of the obvious issues in the conditions field and will list some of the rest of the issues I know of here, most of which are pretty easy fixes, I just don't have the time. If I was staying here I would fix all of these things as this is a great winter car, 4x4 works great and helped me dramaticlly in the snow! Lugs me and my three kids around easily too!
Known issues: Air Conditioning doesn't work. Had AC evaporator replaced and it turned out there was just a leak in the line. The leak is by the accumulator and may just need a new accumulator. Simple enough if so. Heat works but not great. Mechanic said I just need to clean out the lines with a water hose or something. I simply never had time. Transmission is starting to slip a bit, not bad though. Still very drivable. I've taken it to Paramus, NJ without blinking an eye. Might need new battery cables, the bolts are rusted really good on the ends and can't tighten so the cables basically just sit on the battery terminals. Might need new tires soon. Might need new serpentine belt. Replaced within the last 6-12 months: AC Evaporator Starter Battery Idler Pulley Anything else that' wrong with the vehicle is news to me..... I'm pretty firm on the price because there's no reason I shouldn't get the value I requested, even if you are going to part out the vehicle. That being said, make me an offer, come see the vehicle. |

Ford Mustang hit by Moore' Oklahoma's EF5 tornado lives to do another burnout
Fri, 07 Jun 2013Oklahoma recently saw the destructive power of an EF5 tornado, but in the aftermath of the devastation, we've also been witness to the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Moore, OK resident Jack Haden survived the storm but found that his 2003 Ford Mustang wasn't quite as lucky. As you can see in the image above, the tornado's 200+ mph winds did quite a number on the car, but while most people would have likely called their insurance company and scrapped the car, Haden had other plans.
After finding the car and seeing that its V6 still fired up, Haden spent a couple hours getting the car, um... roadworthy(?)... by removing the doors and front clip, cutting off the roof and putting on some new wheels and tires. He noticed that driving it around brought some comic relief to an area that needed a reason to laugh and smile. Check out the KSBI TV news report video below showing before and after pictures of the tough 'Stang, as well as a video showing the newly lightweight coupe doing a smoky burnout.
Ford and GM link bonus checks to quality scores
Tue, 29 Apr 2014The poor first quarter earnings of Ford and General Motors are having an effect all the way up the food chain. Both automakers struggled with recalls in the first three months of the year, and, according to The Detroit News, they have responded by increasing the percentage of bonuses tied to vehicle quality for salaried workers, including top executives.
GM announced that 25 percent of bonuses (up from 10 percent) for all salaried workers would be tied to its vehicle quality standards. The automaker revealed in its financial report that it spent $1.3 billion on recall-related repairs in the first quarter, and net income was down 86 percent.
Ford also increased the quality proportion of bonuses for about 26,000 salaried workers all the way up to CEO Alan Mulally from 10 percent to 20 percent. The company announced in its report that the amount paid out in warranty and recall claims was about $400 million higher than expected in the first quarter. Its net income fell 39 percent from the previous year. "The change reflects how critical quality is to our overall business," said spokesperson Todd Nissen speaking to Autoblog.
Ford will probably never offer two RS models at the same time
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Autocar has some sour news for fans of go-fast Ford products. According to Roelant de Waard, Ford's president of marketing in Europe, the automaker will probably never offer more than one RS performance model for sale at the same time. That statement runs contrary earlier rumblings that suggested Ford would launch its next-generation Focus RS in 2015 and follow the hatch with a spate of other vehicles with an RS badge. But de Waard has made it clear that Ford of Europe is now focused on squarely on the next Mustang, even though there may be more RS models on the way eventually.
"What is clear is that the RS shouldn't be a series, or a car badge that we have in our portfolio all the time. It is an extreme car - something more than ST," he said.
That philosophy makes plenty of sense. We loved the old Focus RS - shown above in RS500 trim - because it was generally bonkers and plenty exclusive. Diluting either aspect is sure to end in disappointment for everyone involved.
