OUR DAUGHTER IS NOW DRIVING AND WE HAVE DECIDED TO DOWN SIZE TO A SMALLER VEHICLE SINCE WE NO LONGER REALLY NEED THIS MULTI PASSENGER VEHICLE. AS YOU KNOW THE 5.4 L MOTOR IS A GOOD RUNNING MOTOR AND SHOULD GIVE YOU MANY MORE MILES. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT AND STILL GOING STRONG. I HAD A NEW ONE PUT IN AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THIS IS A SMOKE FREE VEHICLE AND ALL LEATHER IS IN GOOD CONDITION. NO TEARS. IT DOES HAVE A THIRD ROW THE TIRES ARE AT ABOUT 50% MULTI CD PLAYER AC AND HEAT WORKS GREAT. HEATED SEATS WORK AS WELL. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY A COUPLE REPAIRS NEEDED ISSUES, ONE IS THE COIL PACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT STILL CAN BE DRIVEN. A COIL PACK RUNS AROUND $125.00. SECONDLY THE DRIVER WINDOW IS STUCK UP, AND PROBABLY WILL NEED A NEW WINDOW MOTOR . THE EXTERIOR SHOW SOME PAINT CHIPPING ON THE HOOD AND A FEW SCRATCHED ON THE BODY. NHTSA opens investigation into Ford Explorer PI brakes
Wed, 27 Aug 2014This year more than most, it's pleasant when we can string together a few days without word of an automaker or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announcing a bunch of new recalls. It's seemingly been a little quiet on this front lately (barring a spider-related Suzuki issue revealed early today), but now we have word of the government safety agency opening a Preliminary Evaluation into the 2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, a probe that could potentially affect an estimated 20,000 vehicles.
The issue being investigated concerns failures of the front brake hose on the vehicle that show "small splits in the hoses near the body side ferrule of the hose assembly," according to the agency, and the issue could result in longer stopping distances. The feds have reports of 13 malfunctions affecting 11 Explorer units. However, it's important to note that all of the incidents come from a single, unnamed metropolitan police fleet that operates 46 of them. According to The Detroit News, the failures generally took place between December and July.
NHTSA is investigating further to find if this is a more widespread issue than just this one fleet. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker confirmed to us, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the agency's report.

Thu, 22 May 2014Regardless of what you think of his skill as a racer, Ken Block is an expert showman. At this point, he has a career of showing up around the world to do vehicular stunts, and he's still able to go racing as well. It's a pretty sweet niche to carve out. Recently, Block was in Barbados to participate in Top Gear Live and the first event of the Global Rallycross Championship season, and Ford Racing produced a short video to show off his exploits.
It looked like a great show. Block got to race Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes-Benz Formula One car and had a very weird crash during a Rallycross race that put his Ford Fiesta on its roof. Top Gear also released an extended look at Block and Hamilton's spectacle with the two of them expertly sliding around.
