1998 Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition
The SUV has 135,250 highway miles as of listing date. (Millage will go up because this vehicle is currently my daily driver.) It has been maintained VERY well by previous owner and myself. The previous owner purchased service manual (included with sale) and kept up to date on all service intervals. I too kept up all maintenance as well. New spark plugs! I did oil changes every 3k miles. Just serviced by my mechanic last week. Brand new abs sensor, u-joint, control arms as per his recommendation. Ready for the winter! It has the 5.4L V8. It is the Eddie Bauer Edition but the originally gold trim has been painted black to match the aftermarket black rims.

The condition of the vehicle has been clearly described to the best of my ability in the "condition description" provided in this auction:
"The expedition starts up, runs, drives, and stops great as it should. Exterior is very clean, original paint still shines and looks great. There are a few scratches throughout and a small dent at the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The interior is very clean with original floor mats in place since new. The driver's seat is torn up a bit but completely useable. There is a small plastic ring missing from the overdrive button on the gear shifter, however it still works fine and only effects cosmetics. "CHECK SUSP" light is only dash light on... One speaker for the radio does not work, it will "buzz" on occasion, I was told it is blown. The tires all have good tread and are all 33" in diameter, however the rear's brand do not match each other and are also different from the front set.  All four tires have an equally aggressive tread so they do make a "humming" noise while driving at higher speeds, which is expected.  Lastly, the 4x4 electronically engages and disengages as it should." Didn't have room to write but the "CHECK SUSP" (or check suspension light) is on only because this vehicle has been converted from air bag suspension to coil over suspension by the previous owner. Code is showing because the plugs to the airbags have been since disconnected. Suspension works great just as it should with the newer lower maintenance coil over suspension.

I would strongly suggest looking at the vehicle in person before bidding because the vehicle is sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY. I reserve the right to end auction early because the vehicle is also for sale locally. It is a sharp looking SUV, I always keep it clean, and very frequently do I get comments about it from complete strangers. It is not perfect but personally, I have yet to see a cleaner 1998 Expedition. The only reason why I am selling it is because I need a pick up truck for work.

Any questions or picture requests feel free to email call or text.

Thank you

NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.

Ford Mustang challenges Lamborghini in amazing drift battle

Fri, Dec 18 2015

Engines scream and tires billow with smoke as Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Daigo Saito stage a drift battle through an abandoned Japanese resort that looks like a Russian village in this stunning clip. The high-performance ballet of these amazing machines sliding around makes this one of the best videos of the year. To fight this duel, Gittin straps into his 550-horsepower Ford Mustang, and Saito meets the pony car's challenge with a drift-prepped Lamborghini Murcielago. The drivers hit a curving road and show expert car control as the men slide these very different vehicles just inches from each other. Eventually, night descends, and they add some fire to the scene to give the stunts a more apocalyptic look. The production values for this short clip are phenomenal, and the editing makes the viewer feel right in the middle of the action. If you want to get behind the scenes of this impressive display of drifting, Speedhunters did a great job capturing the event in photos. Related Video:

Weekly Recap: Ferrari, Ford and Porsche power up for Geneva

Sat, Feb 7 2015

Monday was Groundhog Day. Tuesday, apparently, was Sports Car Day. The Ferrari 488 GTB, the Ford Focus RS and the Porsche Cayman GT4 all debuted within hours of each other ahead of their rollouts at the Geneva Motor Show. Three sporty machines, three vastly different approaches – and a lot of implications for enthusiasts. That's a day worth repeating. It also illustrates the opportunities automakers see in the performance market, which is expected to grow in the coming years. Ford estimates the segment has expanded 14 percent in Europe and surged 70 percent in North America since 2009. The Detroit Auto Show was evidence of this, and performance cars of every stripe debuted, including the Acura NSX, Ford GT, Alfa Romeo 4C Spider and several others. This isn't a fad. Performance cars aren't going away. The question is why? Stricter CAFE standards are looming in the United States, as are tighter emissions regulations in Europe. And no one expects gas prices to remain low in America. None of this matters for sports cars, and automakers are increasingly using them to elevate their images. That's why Dodge rolled out two 707-horsepower Hellcats last year. It's why Ford has decided to resurrect the GT for road and track. It's why in the depths of bankruptcy, General Motors continued work on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, not to mention the Z06. "Great brands are made one car at a time," Ford of Europe president Jim Farley said at the reveal of the Focus RS. Still, companies make those cars for different reasons. View 5 Photos Mainstream brands like Ford and Dodge want to build cars that get people talking, excite their bases and drive more potential customers into the showroom. They probably don't buy a Focus RS or a Hellcat, but suddenly the regular Focus hatch looks a bit hotter, and that V6 Charger seems to be just a touch more muscular. The halo of performance is alive and well in the eyes of automakers and their customers. "It's one of the most effective catalysts for ingenuity and innovation," said Joe Bakaj, vice president of product development for Ford of Europe. That also leads to a trickle-down effect. Some of the technologies inevitably make their way to other products. It's hard to think the new all-wheel-drive system in the Focus RS that distributes torque front to rear and side to side won't be used in other vehicles. It's different for Ferrari and Porsche.
