This is a one of a kind, professionally built, executive limousine. Many of these types of limousines look cheap and don't look very luxurious (like a few jump seats with plastic-looking vinyl and stock layouts with a few monitors placed on the wall). Not the case with this one. The vehicle was converted in 2006 but only used as a private limousine up until January of 2012. It was then used as a luxury transportation vehicle for an ultra high-end restaurant until about a month ago.

Even though it is a 2000 model year, it looks like a newer vehicle, with all of the exterior upgrades (bumper covers, grill, etc.). If you are looking for an inexpensive limousine, this is by far the best one you will find. As a personal limousine, this was always insured as a regular truck (about $60/month). That is not possible with a stretched limousine, no matter how inexpensive (looking at $200-$600+/month for insurance).

This limousine was custom designed and built by German engineers and upholsterers from the Audi factory in Germany. It was designed and built around ease-of-repair and classic but fun styling. Easy to get to electronics and parts. Very simple back-end, so maintenance is very easy.

The car has been very well maintained and the oil has been changed every 3,000 miles, religiously.  There are no mechanical problems with the car - it runs perfectly. Starts right up, drives and shifts perfectly, etc. There are some paint imperfections and slight over-spray from someone spray-painting a chair at the office next door  (have to be looking at the paint to see), a few dings, scratches, etc. on the exterior of the vehicle. Also, needs a few very minor fixes I just never did due to time (like new door lock motors, which I have, just didn't install...) Here is a list of upgrades:

  • Brand new tires (less than 1,000 miles) purchased at Discount Tire
  • Brand new battery (purchased 6/4/13)
  • DVD Video and sound system (with dual 10" sub woofers and 4 LCD monitors)
  • Fiber-optic lighting system
  • Ultra-suede ceilings and walls
  • Solid Mahogany bar tops
  • Rear AC and Heat controls
  • Seats 6 in rear comfortably
  • LED overhead lighting
  • Motorized divider partition
  • Dual Ice bins (holds about 18 water bottles or cans)
  • Lead Crystal decanters and glasses
  • Brand new alarm system (about 3 months old), with 2 sets of fobs and keys
  • Modified suspension for a smoother ride
  • Custom headlamps and taillights
  • Custom front and rear bumpers (no chrome-expensive upgrade)
  • Limo tint+ for rear
  • Custom, billet grille

Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?

Sat, Sep 23 2017

If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below. Concentrated ST Formula Proves Just As Potent
I'm not the jealous type... usually. But I will fully admit to being somewhat of a Pouty Polly when I read executive editor Chris Paukert's report after driving the then-new 2013 Ford Focus ST through the impossibly pretty southern French Alps region last June. I feel like a broken record saying this yet again, but hot hatchbacks hold a special place in my heart. And while I'm always giddy to drive any sort of small, turbocharged three- or five-door at home in Detroit, my jealousy was indeed piqued after hearing Paukert tell about the challenging yet breathtaking roads he encountered while driving the flamin' yellow Focus. You know, the sort of roads that, from above, look like carelessly drizzled lines of icing on the frosted Alpen caps.
Several months later, I found myself piloting a Focus ST just west of metro Detroit, pitting it head-to-head against one of Autoblog's perennial favorite cars, the Volkswagen GTI. It was fantastic - enough so that I fully stand behind my statement that in terms of balls-out performance, the Focus ST cannot be beat as far as today's front-wheel-drive hatches are concerned.

Aussie Ford Falcon GT shows its rear end to Lamborghini Gallardo

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

When Ford Australia announces, as it did recently, that it wants to celebrate the end of its Ford Performance Vehicle division with a Falcon FPV GT-F that celebrates big-bore origins of the nameplate, it's talking about the kind of car in this video.
At some point the classic Falcon GT - said to be an XY series - was invited to a test of acceleration against a Lamborghini Gallardo. At the very least, the Falcon GT had a 351 cubic-inch motor and 300 horsepower, but whatever this guy's got under the hood of his yellow sedan makes has him so confident that he doesn't even move his elbow from its resting place on the door.
You'll find a reminder of Ford Australia's heyday, a raucous exhaust note and some NSFW language in the short video below.
