Howdy, Folks!  I've had a number of great questions about this Diesel Excursion.  The questions have come from neighbors near and far, inc. Michigan, Ohio, and Florida!  I thought I would share some of the information with you, the Bold Bidders!!  Below are some of our conversations this week:

Greetings!  Thanks for the kind reply and questions.
re:  Does front heads up display work what does it say what the MPG is?
Yes!  The front heads up display works, and so does the Back-Up Sensor.
We got about 17 mpg on our 2000+ mile trip last summer on the Interstate, and right now it's reading 13.5 around town.

re:  Has it ever been "off- road?"
Based on the essentially scratch- free gorgeous/pearlescent ["Oxford White Clearcoat"]  paint finish, I would have to say 'No.'  I'm not the original owner, but doing a walk-around, I could not even find a door- ding from the grocery store/ Sporting Goods/ or big box Hardware Depot.  Really folks, check the photos... she looks nearly NEW... even the driver's seat is devoid of the traditional 'slide-in/out' wear markings / holes.  Oh... I almost forgot:  I am about 6'2" in my boots and I never see the couple of dents in the top.  Tree branch fell?  Golf ball hit?  It's not bad [no leak, etc] so it was "out of sight, out of mind" for us.

re:  In the photo, your Inspection Sticker reads 6/'14.  Any problems?
Fresh Sticker now read good 'till 7/2015!  I put on new wiper blades {just because it was near time for such}... and there was absolutely no problem passing the inspection with the EGR Kit.

re:  Will you accept a loan check?
Of course checks are OK.  Even personal checks... they just might take longer to clear.  If you don't have all the financing lined up already, I've gotten really good help from the folk in CA with https://www.mycccu.com, The Christian Community Credit Union... they have the title for this Excursion right now.

re:  Do you have any shippers you have worked with before?
Yes.  The last buyer was in Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas area, but he was in Med. School in CO and needed a 4x4! The shipper we used was excellent.

re:  If I decide to come get it myself how fast would you need it picked up?
You or your bank / credit union can send the check... then I can be flexible as to the pick-up date.

re:  Do you have a programmer on truck?
When we installed the EGR Kit, the paper-work said that sometimes the Check Engine light will come on...  sometimes not.  Sure enough, the CEL light came on.  We checked the codes and 'EGR' was the only thing showing.  It is my understanding that one of the beauties of having a diesel is that a person can calibrate one's preferences re: power and engine efficiency.  If we were to keep this rig, I would definitely consider getting an all-in-one tuner/scan tool to calibrate the fuel delivery / airflow improvement for instant power, as well as have the "service technician" diagnostic capabilities with its ability to scan and clear vehicle trouble codes.

re:  Does it have rear DVD / rear entertainment system? The Excursion does have a nice Pioneer DVD Player/CD/AM/FM radio receiver w/ motorized flip-out 7-inch wide touch screen unit.

As one can see in photo [#9?], there is not a rear DVD screen installed for the rear entertainment system.  This is the way I bought it, so we enjoyed the vehicle that way.  I do have a replacement screen [OEM Ford, but not a great one] but I would rather the new owner determine his/her exact needs and preferences as to the exact rear entertainment video equipment.  [If when taking delivery, you decide that the one I have will suffice, we can pop it in place and secure with the two Phillips screws.]

Thanks... we'll chat soon!

Greetings friend,

I have received another question about the Reserve price...

If you have a number in mind... feel free to float it by me as we are NEGOTIABLE!

Here is how I answered the other Bidder:

"Here is how I have it listed locally:

NADA Book Value Clean Retail = $19,500

[+ ADD Value for: Custom Rims & Tires,

Pioneer Sound, with CD/DVD

NEW Fluids Change, and

EGR Kit], etc...

So my Local Asking Price of $18,750 {...or Best Offer}

I think is a reasonable starting price for negotiations.

My wife is quite motivated to sell this as two of our 4 kids just flew out of the nest.  We've incurred a lot of expenses between two graduations [college and high school, plus one wedding within the past two months...  and more college expenses coming!]

We love this Excursion, but it is harder to get the six of us to travel and vacation as much together anymore.  -And we've yet to tow the boat to the water this year with all the other family events!  -So, our family transitions are to your gain!!

Feel free to Leave a Message or Text me at..."

Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."

How did Ford keep the GT a secret before Detroit?

Mon, Feb 2 2015

True secrecy is a rarity in the automotive industry. Sure, companies try to keep their future projects under wraps all of the time, but usually a spy shot or blurry development photo leaks out. The complete lack of any hard details before its unveiling likely helped make the Ford GT one of the biggest stars of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Not only was it the favorite of Autoblog's editors, but the supercar scored a prestigious EyesOn Design Award, too. Rumors about the vehicle had circulated for weeks before the show, but no one really knew much about the GT until it rolled onto the stage for Ford's press conference in Joe Louis Arena. Amazingly, the Blue Oval kept things mostly a secret during the car's 14- month gestation period prior to its debut. According to Automotive News, the GT project began in late 2013 by a skunk works team, including six designers, that guided the supercar along from birth until the unveiling. Ford kept things clandestine by locking the vehicle in a basement storage room, and only the group members got a key to the lock. Much of the development was also done at night to further keep the secret, but occasionally the prototype was hauled outside on weekends to check it out in natural light. Because of the speed in getting the development done and for even more stealth, the designers didn't get input from the Blue Oval's other styling teams around the world. But that was somewhat of a double-edged sword. "You don't actually get to bounce opinions off people," Ford design boss Moray Callum said to Automotive News. "We were on tenterhooks ourselves until the first people saw it." Even now, there are still mysteries surrounding the GT. There's still no official word on the supercar's power; just that it's over 600 horsepower. There are also the persistent rumors going back months that the Blue Oval plans to take the GT racing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of automaker's Le Mans victory. Although, maybe this time the secrecy wasn't so good because we might have got a glimpse of the racer, recently. Related Video:

Ford auctioning off F-35-themed 2015 Mustang for charity

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Ford's been a supporter of EAA AirVenture, a huge, annual air show held in Oshkosh, WI, for several years now, with one of its most notable contributions being a modified Ford Mustang, designed to look like one of America's great fighting aircraft. There was an SR-71 Mustang, based on the legendary spy plane, a Red Tails edition, which honored the ground-breaking Tuskegee Airmen of World War II, as well as Blue Angels and Thunderbird Mustangs, based on America's two great military aerial demonstration teams.
Each car is auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the EAA Young Eagles program, which introduces kids to the joy of flight. For the 2014 AirVenture, which runs from July 28 to August 3, the one-off pony car is based on the new-for-2015 Mustang, and America's latest fighting aircraft - the controversial F-35 Lightning II.
The unique Mustang sports titanium paint scheme, with both glossy and matte sections, as well as yellow-and-blue trim and decal elements inspired by CF-1, the first F-35 test plane. A carbon-fiber front splitter and rear diffuser add some visual eye candy, while the interior boasts a set of Recaro seats. Ford also opted to fit unique wheels and a brawnier rear spoiler, to tie everything together.
